Fantastic for the Marketer and it's Fun!
I bought this book on a strong recommendation from a marketing expert and I was not disappointed. Caldini clearly covers what persuasion experts use to get people to do what they want them to do. Whether it's to make a donation to their charity or say yes to their product. Caldini wrote the book to help people avoid being sucked in by marketers (he is a self described patsy) but it's ...

BEST PARENTING BOOK I'VE EVER READ
Very practical and you can put it into action immediately. I have seen major results in my daughter and also got the CDs so I could immerse myself into an action plan. My daughter is 6 and I wish I had this book when she was 1 as there is a section on potty training that would of helped me so much. I highly recommend this book.Have a New Kid by Friday: How to Change Your Child's Attitude, ...

One of the best in the economics genre
Before I get to the book review, note that Thaler has done an excellent 1-hour talk about this book for Authors@Google, which is well worth your time whether or not you actually read Nudge. It's much better than the videos on Amazon. The book. Thaler & Sunstein define their use of the word "nudge" on page 6: "A nudge, as we will use the term, is any aspect of the choice architecture that ...

for the love of owls
I absolutely LOVED this book. I laughed and I cried and I learned so much about owls. I never knew they were so fasinating. I would not mind having one as a pet, but I think the eating mice thing is not my cup of tea. It truly is a love story.

Necessary For All Dog Owners
After reading Cesar's first book and becoming familiar with his training and teaching methods, I struggled with translating those techniques to suit what my dog needed and what I wanted. This book made it all come together and more. I highly recommend this book and suggest reading Cesar's first book in addition.

True story that will move you
I had no idea what having Tourette's syndrome was like; i.e., until I read AGAINST MEDICAL ADVICE by James Patterson and Hal Friedman . . . it is a true story about how one family dealt with the reality of having to deal with this debilitating illness. As Cory, the son with Tourette's indicates: * I once told my parents that they couldn't live through a single day with what I go ...

Well Written and Easy to Understand
I've been interested in the reasons people make the types of decisions they do even when presented with the evidence that it's the wrong decision or, at best, inappropriate. This book explains the reasons in an easy-to-understand format that makes sense. It's a quick read without a lot of the technical gobbledygook that might be present in textbooks or peer reviewed journals. It's well worth ...

My favorite serial killer!
What can I say about Dexter - he's a wonderful character! Its amazing that a monster can be so likeable and so sympathetic. I listened to the audio version and I really loved it. The story is great and Dexter is so amazingly well developed, that you really feel like you know him. One tiny complaint, and this is only for the audio book recording, you can hear the reader swallow and sometimes ...

Classic story of Lean, Love and Happiness
An old boss of mine at Amazon.com gave me a signed copy of this book to read about lean processing. Obviously, this book is a classic. What people fail to mention in their journey with the main character on lean manufacturing in desperate times, is the love story that unfolds in between the pressure of capitalism in a small town. While not a book to actually get specific action items, it does ...

Excellent history of randomness
This is a highly readable survey on randomness. It is filled with examples of how our intuitions about random events are wrong. My favorite is a description of an experiment. In it, the subjects are presented with a series of guesses about some random event--for example, wither a red or green light will appear. One method is to guess the color that appears most frequently. This is what rats ...

Amazing Book - A Must Have
This book is a must have for any parent who struggles with disciplining their child. Our 3.5 year old son is very strong willed and traditional methods of time out (in a corner) were not working. This book was well written and filled with helpful examples. Within a week we noticied a difference - and best of all - I feel confident about what I am doing. If you are even considering the book - ...

A "Must Read" for Executives
If a business leader were to select one book as a guide to success, this would be my choice. It may be that you have a "shopper's card" at your local grocery; you hand it to the teller as you check out, and the computer registers, besides what the total is and how the store's inventory will need to be restocked, just what the purchases were for you as a specific individual shopper. Maybe it will mail you some coupons on items it can tell you will be interested in, based on what you have ...

Inspiring.
Cesar's Way, is a wonderful book. I have been watching the Dog Whisperer for some time. Through observing my mistakes and working hard to correct my issues I was able to fix every agressive, dominate anti-scocial issue my dog had because of my ignorance. This book took his instruction further and truely helped me understand my dogs needs better. My dog can now be trusted while an infant in on the ...
