Good book...for a textbook
It's a good book, as far as statistics textbooks go. It makes a tough subject very easy to understand, using many accessible examples and simple terms. Most of the other students in my class had trouble with this course. I was one of the only ones who actually read the assigned chapters, and I was the only one who got a 98 in the class. So, I think that says something!

Superb Introductory Statistics Text
Prior to the first edition of this text I used a different text in my introductory statistics course each year because students did not like my text selections. I've used Pagano's text every year since the first edition was published in 1981 because every year the students tell me to retain this text. It is superbly written and exquisitely designed. It is the best text of its kind that I have ...

Good and easy to understand statistics book
I had to get this book for my statistics class. I am not good at math but this book is written well enough that I was able to get a great grade on a test. I am pretty happy with this book :) Maggie (Frankfort, IL)

Very Useful
At first the title of the book may appear daunting, but a look inside reveals a very well written book. Takes confusing topics and helps explain them in ways that a student will understand. I found it incredibly useful in my course!

Though the price was much too high, I still feel happy
I must say I felt bad with the price of the book - I felt it was much too high. But after reading the first few chapters of the book, and noting that it flows and is very easy to understand, I do not have to complain so much now. I am loving the book now.

A must-read for practitioners of cognitive behavioral therapy
This is one of those books that I regret not having when I was beginning with cognitive behavioral therapy. The authors synthesize all the crucial information to help therapists make CBT work. Readers will dramatically increase their comfort, confidence, and outcomes with delivering CBT. I used this book with graduate students I supervised and they loved it!

Emotional and behavioral disorders of children and youth
This is an impressive book in its seventh edition since 1977 and used as an introductory text in special education on the subject of children and youth with emotional and behavioral disorders. It is also impressive, because the publisher has developed a companion website accompanying the book with resources for the professor and the student (www.prenhall.com/kauffman). The website is divided ...

What makes it so great?
Taking this class in medical school was a breeze with this book. I read it cover to cover easily. The author is very good about keeping each individual chapter only a handful of pages long, but the text doesn't become too wordy or detailed. Diagrams are very well done, and it would be worth it to have this book for these alone. However, this book isn't the perfect reference. It is a little ...

An Excellent Introduction
The book is up-to-date and effectively presents the basic concepts. Deals with current power and sphericity concerns. Example SPSS-keyed analyses and APA-format results sections are especially valuable for research training. Uses post-hoc Tukey HSD test. Separate nonparametric chapters. The authors know their material (not always the case with statistics texts) and they provide a solid ...

well organized
Each chapter is well organized and it is made sure that readers understand the concepts before proceeding. Clear research questions always accompany the statistics involved. All key terms are well explained. Statistics books can be tough. This one is easy to comprehend, especially for introduction and all the fundamentals. I learned all I needed to know to take an introductory stats course ...

One of a kind
There are very few books written that covers as many important topics in behavioral research methods as this one. Earlier editions were outstanding and the fourth edition is exceptional. The new material in the 4th Edition is helpful to today's researcher. Both researcher and student doing research should have this book. The examples are extremely useful in facilitating the understanding of ...

An excellent aid in the primary care setting!
This book is a wonderful overview of both common and difficult issues in the clinic setting, and very relevant to outpatient practice. It is easy reading, but full of practical tips and up-to-date references. I would recommend it to every primary care resident as an aid in their training.
Introduction to Behavioral Research Methods (5th Edition)
Mark R. Leary

Research Methodology is not an inherently interesting topic. This book counteracts the natural tendency to shy away from research with an understandable, palatable, useful, and interesting, and above all, readable attempt to explain research methods. Knowing proper research methodology comes from an understanding of basic statistical principles, research design, measurement, descriptive studies, and scientific writing. This book ...
