Something worth considering
I have to admit I was shocked by this book. But when you read it, it just starts to make sense. Too much sense really. This book is the exact opposite of everything we are told about healthly nutrition! Drink raw whole milk for example. But when she tells you why she feels this way, you think there must be something to this. It just makes too much sense. We put out a raw milk petition to ...

Read before you board the pirate ship
Not a cook book, but a fine read for anyone interested in fine food; and required reading for anyone considering a career in the back of the house. You will laugh out loud at some of the antics of Tony Bourdain and his cadre, and shudder in horror wondering if you were victim to some culinary pirate's marauding. Adventurous eaters will find something here too. This is an easy read you will gobble ...

I've been looking for a cookbook like this for years
I've long looked for a cookbook that took favorite dishes and made them more nutritious. My children eat nearly any vegetable I put before them -- but what they really love are foods like macaroni & cheese, buttered noodles, white bread, mashed potatoes, etc. This cookbook has completely changed the way I cook. When I made the chicken nuggets (which had an unbelievable amount of pureed ...

delicious, healthy, easy to make
I just purchased this book and have already made several of the dishes. So far I have not been disappointed and don't really expect this to happen anyway.. Everything I tried has been wonderful and I feel good about eating healthy without having to give up foods I like. The photos are beautiful and make going through the book a mouthwatering experience, each time around.

Calling all Corn People - READ THIS BOOK!
I read this book a little while ago and didn't have time to review it, but the essential messages keep popping into my consciousness as I go about my day-to-day life. Before reading this book, for example, I had never realized that Corn has cunningly taken over the world and turned us all into "Corn People." Pollan's simple plan - to make three meals - turns into an exploration of all things ...

Corporatism at the worst
In Eric Schlosser's first devastating book on the malpractices of the fast food industry, he pieces together history, facts, and numerous sources to reveal some disturbing truths about their nature. Fast Food Nation is less an expose` on how unhealthy junk food is than a look into the operations of the food industry, specifically McDonalds. The book is divided into two sections: the first, ...

Eat me!
Barbara Kingsolver's lyric prose is so fun to read, and it's good for you too! It's heartening to see the locavore movement get such attention on a national scale. Maybe American food culture isn't doomed after all. The inserts from her family are entertaining, but sometimes awkwardly placed. I can't wait to lend this out to my friends.

Don't Judge until you try this!!!
First, I'm not a dieter. Second, I don't do diets!! I didn't do this just for the weightloss. I wanted to do this to feel better. Today is my 21st day of the detox and tomorrow I start the break. My wife and I decided on this program after much research. We read both the posoitive and the negative. Having read a large portion of the reviews here, I found it odd how evenly split they ...

The Best Vegan Cook book to date!
From the moment I saw this book at the Borders where I work I was intrigued...a huge compendium of completely vegan recipes?? I had to investigate further. After borrowing the book from my store about 8 times (yes you can do that if you actually work there...rent brand new books out! WOOOT!) I decided that yeah...it was worth the price tag. I couldn't get enough of it. Everything I have made ...

Good Old Recipes Like Mom Used to Make!
This would be a great cookbook for the new bride or a daughter just starting to cook. The recipes are pretty basic and mimicked a lot I had in my recipe files, but that must mean they are GOOD recipes! The brownies were very good, but don't over bake or they dry out. I used the icing for the German chocholate cake on the brownies and it was to die for!

Does lasagna, potatoes au gratin, or a brownie sound good? I thought so! This cookbook has includes a wide range of foods that are fantastic every-day choices. Another plus is that most of the ingredients are repetitive so you can stock your pantry and have some pretty versitile menu options. Below are the sections: Breakfasts PMS Snacks Appetizers Soups & Stews Salads Sandwiches ...

Be a wild and crazy breadmaking rebel
Wow! I'm amazed that this quick and easy technique can produce such delicious and beautiful bread. Using their basic recipe, I've made peasant-style loaves and incredible baguettes. The baguettes were particularly noteworthy because they required almost no effort. In the past, I've struggled with trying to create a worthy baguette. Now I have a new method that is not fussy at all and makes ...

This book is great for students and teachers that want to know the scientific information about cooking and baking. For example it explains the chemical changes in leavening, emulsions, and so much more. It talks about the nature of plants, dairy, all of the cookingmethods. Oh I dont think the author missed a single detail in this hows, whys, and whos of cooking. I highly recommended it to keep ...

Now that's what I like - diet recipes that are also tasty!
The recipe book and its companion paperback guide make it easy to sort out where all the "sugar" and "fats" are hidden in the prepared foods at the grocery store so you can make healthy decisions according to your own needs. The recipes are good - some a bit too fancy for our tastes - but all can me modified with the foods and spices on the lists that you like. We've also found several new ...
• Filet mignon (French for "dainty fillet") is a steak cut of beef taken from the tenderloin, or psoas major of the steer or heifer.
• Baby food is any food that is given specifically to infants, roughly between the ages of four months to two years. The food comes in multiple varieties and tastes, can be produced by many manufacturers, or may be table food that the rest of the family is eating, mashed up. A common trait of the many different baby foods is that they are designed for ease of eating; either a soft, liquidy paste or an easily chewed food. This is because infants lack teeth and experience in eating.
