David Sedaris is HILARIOUS
For my money, he's the best bittersweet comic author out there and nothing beats him reading his own work.

Calling all Corn People - READ THIS BOOK!
I read this book a little while ago and didn't have time to review it, but the essential messages keep popping into my consciousness as I go about my day-to-day life. Before reading this book, for example, I had never realized that Corn has cunningly taken over the world and turned us all into "Corn People." Pollan's simple plan - to make three meals - turns into an exploration of all things ...
The Glass Castle: A Memoir

Jeannette Walls

Fantastic brave memoir of a life of abuse
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Wall is the type of book that makes you want to give your parents a hug and thank them for being such wonderful parents, no matter how bad they were. Wall was raised by free spirits who want their children to become toughened by life and believe firmly in survival of the fittest. Her mother wants to be an artist and not to be bothered by the inconvenience of feeding ...

Excellent condition & delivery!
The whole experience with this seller was outstanding. The book was great, though I guess I wished it had the text of Randy Pausch's lecture. It was delivered in fine condition, and at the time promised.

Eat me!
Barbara Kingsolver's lyric prose is so fun to read, and it's good for you too! It's heartening to see the locavore movement get such attention on a national scale. Maybe American food culture isn't doomed after all. The inserts from her family are entertaining, but sometimes awkwardly placed. I can't wait to lend this out to my friends.

1st Book I ever bought...
I gotta say that I'm not much of a reader, I read text books for school, the newspaper and magazine, but a book NEVER. But I started watching the 2nd season of Tori and Dean, no soNotorious or Tori and Dean Inn In Love. I don't know but I really enjoyed their relationship, how they spend time with baby Liam and how Dean kinda bends to Tori's every little wish, but I can truly see that they are in ...

Chelsea Handler's book review
This book was just as good if not better than Chelsea's first book. I absolutely love reading her material and look forward to watching her show all the time! Her humor is often what helps me stomach this crazy life. It's nice to know there are people out there with lives crazier than mine that are actually experiencing success from such absurd experiences. I love Chelsea and hope she ...

Great book for newborns
I bought this book with a bunch of other books, I'm due in two months so I haven't actually tried any of Dr. Karps techniques but the book was super easy to read, and had some really interesting techniques that I'm dying to try now! :-) I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, especially for first time parents.

Think the thought to the end.
So Communism is bad because it becomes, in the end, like Capitalism. What destroyed Communism in Europe? Lech Walensa and the trade union Solidarity. Why won't Communism in China come to an end? Because capitalist companies like Walmart won't support unionization in China. Chinese communism survives in China because of support from American companies; alone it would tumble to despair. The rich ...
Too Fat to Fish

Anthony Bozza
Spiegel & Grau
, 2008
When good-for-little stand-up comic Artie Lange joined the permanent cast of The Howard Stern Show in 2001, it was nothing short of a renaissance in the Stern universe. The Stern juggernaut has never slowed since its 80s heyday, but Lange provided what Stern had yet to find all in the same place: a wit quick enough to keep pace with his own, a pathetic self-image to dwarf his own, a personal history both heartbreaking and hilarious, and an ...

The Reader /Customer Rant: Double the Gratuity!!
Some estimate that there are now only 16 people left in the USA who do not have a blog. Add to the blogosphere The (anonymous) Waiter, who vents about different species of objectionable customers, bosses and co-workers. The blogging waiter has weaved his postings into a coherent book in WAITER RANT. The book crackles with humor, insight and - ultimately - pathos. The Waiter can not only ...

Amazingly Well Done
Okay, so your politics probably need to lean in this direction for you to be able to appreciate this one. Having said that, this book is a very clever poignant critique of the last seven years. What really impressed me is how well done it was. I actually purchased the original Goodnight Moon as well and read (looked at) them side by side. Much like Goodnight Moon, the subtle embedding of ...

The Joke's on Me
Amazon recently recommended that I purchase The Killing Joke based on my new addiction to comic books and graphic novels. (I've also only recently gotten into video games and other things that I think that I was supposed to start liking a long long time ago...Can you say: "mid-life crisis?" Anyway, how timely I thought, of this Killing Joke recommendation by Amazon....A "new" Batman versus ...

Essential Vonnegut, still relevant today...
I don't care who you are, you absolutely need to read this book. It's justly considered a classic. The thing about it is that it isn't really a "humor book" like some of Vonnegut's other, justly famous works (Cat's Cradle, Breakfast of Champions, God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater). Parts of it are funny - I especially like the segments with the bitter Kilgore Trout, a sci-fi author reputed to be one ...
