Reading "Animal, Vegetable, Mineral," I learned when not to pick asparagus; who's for and against genetically modified foods; where to buy heritage seeds; that tomato plants habitually lose their lower leaves (not to worry); how to make mozzarella cheese; how to spell mozzarella cheese; how mass produced beef, pork, and chickens are raised; what dairy products are okay for the lactose intolerant; ...

This purchase was actually a birthday gift for my son's 10-year old friend, but my son (almost 11) has had his own book for several months. He absolutely loves it. He is a diehard Lego fan and became interested in the Star Wars movies in the past year, so this book is like heaven for someone like him. Includes a complete history of all the Star Wars Lego sets with tons of detailed pictures and ...
Cesar's Way: The Natural, Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems

No quick fix - his "way" requires connecting with nature
Cesar's TV show amazed me how the dog owners always blame their dog for having all sorts of "human behavior" type problems. Then Cesar rehabilitates the dog from the sick behavior of the owners only to find they are unable to change their ways. EXAMPLE: One woman had a hyperactive miniature pinscher that was totally out of control. She never exercised the dog, let alone trained him. Cesar ...

Flavor made easy
The Flavor Bible is a well written and highly detailed book that leads the reader down a road to understanding flavor from somewhere between an artistic viewpoint and a magical experience. The authors spend an extensive amount of time developing the readers understanding of what flavor really is. Much less time is spent on the clinical side of "cooking something." The latter part of the book ...

Gaia's Garden - a workable plan that works
I don't think I can say anything here that hasn't already been said except to add that I'm not even finished with the book and I'm implementing alot of the ideas. Its the most perfect blend of food production, wildlife habitat and minimizing labor that I've ever found. This is my first introduction to permaculture and the reading is easy and interesting. Lots of details but not boring in any way. ...

Let it Rot!: The Gardener's Guide to Composting (Third Edition)

Storey Publishing, LLC, 1982
nothing rotten about this book
I've been composting for about six months, as a completely ignorant amateur. I just piled up all of my lawn trimmings and vegetable kitchen scraps out next to the garden - it worked, but I needed to know more. Who knew I knew so little! I was avoiding putting things in my pile that belonged there. Layering, turning, components- I am now so ravenous for compostables I look at everything ...

This Collector Map is really great.Especially for a foreigner, who is a great fan of the US-state quarters program. Unfortunately the delivery time was a little bit longer than expected. I hardly managed to get delivered to my hotel, before I flew home. Anyway, now that I have it, I am glad.

Cesar Knows His Stuff
I really think that everyone should ready Cesar's books! Not only does he give you great insights into the mind of your dog, he shows you how to get in touch with yourself and your own emotions. I never thought that my dogs could sense my moods and emotions let alone act out directly because of them! I will definately be reading more of Cesar's books!
