Don't Be Embarrassed, If the Title Interests You, Read It
The book's title is provocative on purpose, but Ferriss delivers excellent ideas about life and work. You don't have to agree with everything he says, and you don't have to implement all his suggestions to benefit. For me, the point of the book is to look at your work differently. When you do that, you can make different decisions that will benefit you, as opposed to the instinctive "work, get ...

"Must Have"
A definite "must have" book for any student in a counseling program. Even if not "required", this book makes writing reports so much easier because then you know EXACTLY what is required for deifferent diagnosis. I suggest all counseling/psychology students buy this book as early on in their studies as possible.

Highly recommended
This book gives an excellent overview of what the GRE will be like, and has lots of super tips as to how to best approach the different question types. When I got to the math section I was a little overwhelmed, especially since I have never had geometry, only algebra. But the authors say that it is not a math test at all and go on to explain how to approach each type of math question. I am so ...

Great Tool for Your Writing
I am excited to use the MLA tools in this pocket guide for writing my college papers. There is so much in this little book, and was worth ever cent of my purchase. There are lots of little things that students forget like noun/verb agreement, and possession. It is very helpful, and every student should have this!

A Look in the Mirror
[As a corporate human resources director, I often work on developing the latent talents and skills of various managers. Years ago, I taught a class where I had each participant to look into a hand-held mirror and ask the question, "Would you want to work for this person?" This book takes this exercise to a completely different level. To discover your own inner strengths (and weakness) ...

The structure of this book is confusing. Carr takes us back and forth and back again. This disrupts the sense of tension. His devotion to his kids is admirable, but I had a bit of a struggle sticking with this book. The

This book is a great reference for anyone studying spanish. It lays out the verbs and their conjugations clearly and systematically without any extra filler. I have used it in higher-level college spanish classes and have also given it to first-year high school students. Everyone has found this book a great tool in their studies.
How Fiction Works

The Cover is the Key
The retro cover says it all. Farrar, Straus knew that it had the next big thing and that the next big thing consisted of a return to the best of the past. The book is receiving a great deal of attention, confirming their prescience. How Fiction Works is a study of something that is very old-fashioned these days: craft. It is an examination of key elements of fiction and how they are most ...

Helpful
This was quite helpful while taking a journalism course. It takes a few minutes to understand the layout of the book to lookup things, but once you get it, it's easy. I think this book helped raise me a letter grade in my course. Anyone taking a journalism course with a strict professor or planning on entering journalism should get a copy. My textbook had a reference in it, but it was ...

The parable as a blank canvas
Who Moved My Cheese is a classic that uses a story without the burden of extra detail to force you to put your own life into the situation, and learn from it. It's true that this method isn't for everyone, but the book is popular for a reason: it helps people. Who Moved My Cheese has that special something that most fables lack. It makes you think. The only other fable I've seen accomplish ...
