great quick read! Advice is right on target for me
This book is worth every penny. The advice is short, to the point. Her take is that you should not give up your own life for just any guy. You should be able to hold your own in a relationship and feel respected by the man you date. You are the prize. You are the jewel. Do not sell yourself short and accept just any treatment from just any guy you meet. Good luck in the dating world. Mary ...

A MUST HAVE
I picked this book up at random and boy! am I glad I did. I have recommended it to All my girlfriends both married and single. In our late 30's and early 40's we thought we knew it all, seen it all and bought the T shirts, but this book was so enlightening and totally worth every penny. It is down to earth, not overly moralistic and impractical. You will certainly see yourself in some of the ...

Should be required reading for all humans- bring on one for the men
I did a lot of research into vegetarianism years ago, when I was single, and was a vegetarian for 7 years or so....but then I got married, quickly had kids....and my husband is a confirmed meat eater. I started our marriage though buying only organic fruits and veggies, brown rice, wheat flour, and thought I had educated him about healthy eating. Since I would not cook meat, he took over a lot of ...

A Great Place TO Start And Refer Back To
This book taught me all of the basic stitches I use (whether ready or not) during my introduction to crochet. I refer back to it for a quick refresher or an idea for a pattern change. Well worth every cent.

My new found sewing bible
I just bought this book because I wanted to freshen up my sewing. I knew how to home sew from my mother but I didn't know much about sewing techniques or terms or sewing notions and how to use them. This book was very easy to understand and explains everything I need to know about sewing and using notions and patterns. It's now my sewing bible! If I get stuck on something I grab my sew fast sew ...

great for a new vegan
I'm a new vegan who's been cooking conventionally for over 40 years and needed help. I'm a good cook but I needed ideas and inspiration to make meals for my family every night without using meat. In the 4 weeks I've been a vegan I have made many of the recipes in this book and they've gone over great with my husband (and with me). They were easy, not too time consuming and helped me be a vegan ...

Buy this ONLY if you want to be a VEGAN!!!
Well, unfortunately, I was completely disappointed with this book from start to finish. I thought the authors might have some important things to say about eating healthy and staying away from processed foods, etc...---but just about the entire book was dedicated to the detailed processes of slaughterhouses, animal welfare, and why it's better to be a vegan. I give them credit however for the ...

Buy this book
Disclaimer-I subscribe to Bitch Magazine and have for a number of years. I love it! When I saw this book at the university bookstore, I bought it and savored reading through the book. What I really like about Bitch Magazine, more so than Bust, is that the articles are more theoretical and erudite. I don't consider them dry, but I am WS educator and view BM as more a cutting edge zine that ...

This one is for someone a little past beginner...
For whatever reason, when I bought this book online it was only three bucks. So I thought there was no way I could pass it up. I'm glad I bought it because it taught me how to tweak a pattern in order to use any type of yarn I want. I know I should have been able to figure out how to do this anyway, but I couldn't. Thanks Debbie, now I can use yarn I can afford to knit cool looking things.

Not a Bitch to Read!
Morrell's discussion of deeply flawed protagonists adds greatly to our knowledge of what it means to create a three-dimensional character. Most compelling is the section devoted to bitches. With her perfectly-chosen exemplars, Morrell's takes us through a fascinating analysis of why, even today, an "unsympathetic" heroine remains so much more of a taboo than her male counterpart. Highly ...

I loved this book!!!
The first time I sewed anything was in middle school shop class - we made this hideous blouse that I never wore because I didn't like the material or the pattern. I decided to get back into sewing because while I didn't like the end result, I loved the process. I have a sewing machine coming and I can't wait to get started. I want to try at least a few of the techniques I saw in this book. ...

This was a great place to start
As soon as I received the promotion I went to the bookstore to search for management books. This one was the best of the bunch! The writing is great and it is an easy read and very helpful! I have sticky notes and dogeared many of the pages! I refer to it often.

Good book for smart women!
This book details some of the stereotypes faced by women. I use it in my college classes. The most interesting part is in the back on the book where they describe stereotypes like Barbie Dolls. This book really makes you think about what it means to be a woman and how men try to put us into these catagories. So read the book, shake things up, and confuse the guys by not giving them what ...

Some Great Projects, Some Crappy Projects
I absolutely love most of the patterns in this book. The other ones are just too funky or ugly for me to consider making. It's well over half of the patterns that are great though. It's not easy to find some good patterns for the modern man and this book is good for that. Maybe some of the ugly ones would look better with a different color palette. My favorite projects are the Uncle ...
