Smart and Warm Witchcraft Mystery
The author sweeps us into the very real world of modern day San Francisco and immediately into a paranormal mystery. The women and men in this book are smart, fascinating, and hard to predict. Few books have such wonderful description woven into the narrative so seamlessly -- if the protagonist of the book, Lily is a witch who has a way with vintage clothing, than Juliet Blackwell is a writer ...

A great series!
Dear Readers, My daughter and I have both read this series two times! It is truly gratifying and uplifting. Although this episode in the Gresham Chronicles may not be my favorite, it is a sweet read and well worth the purchase as the very fine story continues here and one can know how things turn out for beloved characters. Make sure you read all four of them as they are worthy of the price ...

The Dowry of Miss Lydia Clark, The Gresham Chronicles
I loved the Gresham Chronicles. No sifi, no murder, no sex scandal, no need to study it for examination, just a lovely story set in a lovely little town. A relaxing set of stories to enjoy. I read all four of the books. Each book follows a different character in the series.

Arrogance and "entitlement"
Never, in my life, have I seen a more arrogant politician, and gang. They ignore the will of people that "elected" Mr. O, ignore laws, The Constitution, existing laws, and literally ram their will right through that wall, called Checks and Balances (of which there are none left). I have kept an eye on all the elections, appointments, etc. since I was 12. I am now in my 60's, so that is 50 ...

Wow, it's like they're real people!!!!
I first read this series many years ago and fell in love with Ms. Blackwell's stories. I say I "first read" it because I've actually read this whole series at least three times (obviously it's my favorite one, so far), and I still laugh out loud and enjoy it as much as the first time! I've lent the book to my daughter and to all of my friends who like historical Christian fiction, and they ...

A story of intrigue, romance and forgiveness in London.
I really enjoyed this new story by Lawana Blackwell. Set in the theatre world of London in the late 1890s, she creates a plot and subplots of lively characters onstage and backstage. Bethia Rayborn is the new wardrobe mistress of London's Royal Court Theatre. She accepts a seemingly innocent invitation for a tea outing with her cousin Jewel's cousin Douglas Pearce after the departure of her ...

I so enjoyed this book!
I have to admit I have a soft spot in my heart for any book whose main character opens her own cafe or bookstore, as food & books are two are my favorite things in life! And, having worked in both restaurants & bookstores, the storylines bring back fond memories for me. The characters in this book are just wonderful and remind me of Jan Karon's Mitford books. The mystery that adds the line of ...

From Modernism to Postmodernism: An Anthology Expanded (Blackwell Philosophy Anthologies)

A diverse introduction
Even if one is only marginally interested in postmodernism, this book is nonetheless valuable. It reprints substantial excerpts from writings that put forth numerous important ideas, from Descartes to "The Cartesian Masculinization of Thought." It should not be mistaken for an introduction to modern philosophy, however, because it is strictly Continental and (obviously) postmodern. Still highly ...
