Bold Spirit: Helga Estby's Forgotten Walk Across Victorian America79 reviews
Linda Lawrence Hunt

Anchor, 2005

Bittersweet page-turner
Bittersweet: that's the first word that comes to my mind after reading Helga Estby's story. I disagree with other reviewers who think Linda Lawrence Hunt's writing is lackluster or that this is just half a story. Given the tiny amount of information she had to start with, I think she did a fabulous job weaving historical events into Helga's story. I stayed up late reading this--it was ...

The Brave and the Bold Vol. 1: Lords of Luck6 reviews
Mark Waid

DC Comics, 2007

Everything a Super-Hero Book Should Be
Mark Waid, one of comics' best and most unsung writers, brings back the classic "Brave and the Bold" team-up book with "Crisis" artist George Perez. The art is fantastically detailed and the story is well-paced across the six issues collected in "Lords of Luck". Unlike some other DC titles, each character here is defined by his or her actions and words. Waid's characterization is brilliant, ...

Perloo The Bold42 reviews
Avi

Scholastic Paperbacks, 1999

Perloo the Bold Review
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an odd furry little creature and fight for control over the ruling throne? The fantasy novel Perloo the Bold by Avi certainly explains what this would be like! Perloo, a hermit montmer, gets his world turned upside down when the granter, or ruler, Jolaine, asks him to become the new granter over all montmers. This is both bad news and good ...

Bold Love19 reviews
Dan B. Allender, Tremper Longman

NavPress Publishing Group, 1993

My Most Influential Book
What does it mean to "honor" a wicked parent? How do you love an abusive person without opening yourself up to more damage? What happens when you can't forgive and forget? With a few exceptions, I generally write reviews of books I like which means I'm somewhat biasing the overall Amazon rankings. But let me say that of all the books I like or love, none has influenced my life more than Dan ...

Be Bold2 reviews
Cheryl L. Dorsey, Lara Galinsky

Echoing Green, 2006

Useful and inspiring book
The social entrepreneurship organization Echoing Green has just published a book designed to inspire young people to consider careers in the nonprofit sector. The book, Be Bold, tells the stories of 12 nonprofit leaders who typify the core elements of being bold: experiencing a moment of obligation (committing to what you feel is important), having the gall to think big, trying new and untested ...

Ethix: Being Bold in a Whatever World10 reviews
Sean McDowell

B&H Publishing Group, 2006

Buy this book!
Sean has done a fantastic job of dealing with difficult issues in a straight forward manner, biblically. It is unfortunate that in the church today too many are not basing their decisions to some of the most important issues in life based on their 'feelings' instead of what their 'creator' desires. I praise God for Sean and his strong biblical stand.

Bold Land, Bold Love (Love Spell Historical Romance)6 reviews
Connie Mason

Love Spell, 1998

The book is what got me hooked on Connie Mason.
My sister in law read the Brave Land, Brave Love and said it was really a great book .She gave it to me to read and I noticed it was the last book of 3. I went to the library to get the other 2 books before it. I read all 3 in 1 week. Couldn`t put them down. Mrs. Mason is a very good writer. I`m hooked and plan on reading her other books. Keep up the good work.

Showcase Presents: The Brave and the Bold - The Batman Team-Ups, Vol. 15 reviews
Bob Haney, Mike Sekowsky

DC Comics, 2007

The Caped Crusader at his best!
What's great about this book is the range of the stories. Some have a light tone reminicent of the "Batman" TV series of the sixties, (The Metamporpho team-up even MENTIONS the show) others are dark, pulpy mysteries, (the Neal Adams drawn Deadman team-ups are particularly good) No matter which interpretation of the Dark Knight you prefer, your bound to dig at least a few of these tales. Nearly ...

The Bold and the Beautiful: A Tenth Anniversary Celebration2 reviews
Robert Waldron

HarperCollins Publishers, 1996

worth every cent I paid
I have only watched the Bold and the Beautiful since about 1996, that was when I learn't how to video record for when I was at work. This book is a wonderfully comprehensive guide to all things B&B. It starts from 1987, including how the cast were picked and hired. It begins with the Ridge/Caroline/Brooke triangle that leads to many intricately woven triangles. It has at the heart, the fashion ...

Bold Destiny5 reviews
Jane Feather

Avon, 1999

great character and plot driven novel
Kabul, Afghanistan in 1841/42 is definitely not where a British person wanted to be. The conditions were perfectly horrid, the natives were getting restless and the British Army outpost was stuck with high level officers who couldn't command their way out of a paper bag. For Lieutenant Christopher "Kit" Ralston the terms "hell on earth" and "bored out of his mind" about summed it up. That is ...

Be Big: Step Up, Step Out, Be Bold: Daring to Do Our Best Work Together6 reviews
Judith H. Katz, Frederick A. Miller

Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2008

Perfect Pick Me Up and Inspirational Kick in the Pants
A co-worker of mine gave me a copy of this book and I'm happy to say that it kicked me in the pants just when I needed it. Everyone knows they should voice their opinions and be bold, but we sometimes forget how important it is in leading the fullest life we can live. I keep the book on my shelf near my desk a work and flip through the pages when I'm feeling like I need a push to be stronger at ...

Bold Conquest7 reviews
Virginia Henley

Avon, 1983

Couldn't Put it Down
I didn't think this book was one of Henley's best, but it was very enjoyable. I couldn't put it down because I kept wondering want would happen next. It was a very intricate story, however the ending was flat. It should have been better considering the complexity of the story. Lillyth is a Saxon and Guy is a Norman conqueror. Of course, he invades her home and he takes Lillyth as "his." ...

Bold! Daring! Shocking! True: A History of Exploitation Films, 1919-19595 reviews
Eric Schaefer

Duke University Press, 1999

A DEFINITIVE WORK!
I have read many books & articles on exploitation films as well as viewing many of the films mentioned in Eric's book. THE BOOK IS WELL RESEARCHED. The chapters about censorship & distribution/marketing were the most interesting. Eric gives an excellent example of what cuts were required for a specific film for both the Chicago & the Ohio censorship boards (the Ohio board being much stricter), ...
