Anyone But You

Charming and smart
Hilariously funny, Anyone But You is Cruisie at her very best. Nina is a delightful heroine--angsty about encroaching age, but determined not to return to a Stepford Wife existence with her ex-husband. Does she have the self-confidence to have a relationship with a hunky neighbor who's ten years younger than she is? Movies, junk food and Fred the dog play strong supporting roles in Nina's ...

I absolutely love Rachel Gibson novels and this one was just as wonderful as all the others I have read. It has great characters, a great plot, light hearted and keeps your attention. If you like Rachel Gibson or want a fun, fast, contemporary romance than this is the book for you!

Walk the Talk!
When I read the title, "The Christian Atheist," my interest was definitely piqued! I was not familiar with the author, Craig Groeschel, but with endorsements by Francis Chan, Andy Stanley, Brian Houston, Dave Ramsey, and Bill Hybels, I figured this was a MUST read. I was right! Too many "Christians" are professing their faith...but no living it. Pastor Craig Groeschel cuts to the heart and ...

Great books
These books are very entertaining to my 1.5-2 year old, then she kind of got tired of them because we read them so much. Now that I have an active 8 month old as well, they hold up very well to chewing, throwing, getting climbed on, etc. There is always at least one illustration that makes me absolutely crack up in every book.

Every Wich Way But Dead by Kim Harrison
This is such a fun series, Rachel Morgan is one sassy witch. I plan on reading the whole series. I am really enjoying taking time to myself, get a glass of ice tea and settle down with the book and get lost in the world of the Hollows. Thank you Kim Harrison!
Don't Know Much About History: Everything You Need to Know About American History but Never Learned

Balanced, useful, and interesting
In this abridged audiobook, Kenneth Davis provides an episodic history of the US spanning from the voyages of Columbus to 9/11. Much has to be left out in an abridgement, but I think his choices are reasonable for giving a feel for the major events and general contours of US history. Moreover, he describes these episodes in significant depth, thereby presenting facts which won't be known to ...

Guitarists Music Theory
I have been teaching myself to play guitar (starting at age 60) and realized that I know nearly nothing about how chords are constructed and why they blend well one to the next. This book shows in detail how intervals work to define the major key--now I know what key I am playing in! If you want to be a serious musician and play guitar, this is an excellent book from which to learn the basics. ...
No Choice But Seduction: A Malory Novel

Another "Malory" Favorite!
I really enjoyed this novel. It is as charming, funny and romantic as the rest of the Malory Family series. I love how Boyd Anderson does not hide his "carnal thoughts". He really fits in with the other Malory males. I do miss the interaction of Tony and James! I can't get enough. I am glad it is a large family, so Johanna can keep writing about them!

A must read for teachers of all subjects
This book changed the way I teach on a daily basis. As an 11th grade US history teacher in the Bronx, I was tired of assigning short passages for my students to read and many of them getting nothing from it. Tovani's reading strategies instantly made my students more successful. Talking to them about what good readers do demystified the process and placed the responsibility and power to ...

I purchased this based on reviews, but also not knowing exactly what to expect. I couldn't put it down when I started reading. There were a lot of things in the book that I could identify with myself. If you haven't read this and you're debating, stop debating and get it! You won't regret it.

Mistakes Were Made (But Not by Me)

Mistakes were made but not by this book!
This book is incredible. It requires the reader to critically examine his or her own beliefs and behaviours in the past but if you can do this you will have the scales fall from your eyes. This book gives you an insight into why crazy decisions occur and what is behind them from a psychological standpoint. It is really good as a quick read but I recommend you revisit chapters when something comes ...

Same tone, different direction
There's no guarantee that a comedian you find hilarious on television or in a club will translate equally well to print. I love John Stewart on The Daily Show, like Steven Colbert on his Report, and I think Lewis Black in amazing when he starts ranting out loud. But frankly, for me, none of them translated well into print--I was practically embarrassed at Lewis Black's Me of Little Faith, even ...

The Best of the Best
Parents generally try to seek solutions for the issues they are facing with their children, and they often turn to books containing well-meaning advice from experts that purport to tell them how to communicate with their children so that the children actually listen, how to enforce discipline, how to raise a great child, etc. The problem is that many of the prescriptions contained in such books ...

GORGEOUS!
