very helpful
If you know a little calculus, have taken it a while back or need to supplement your text, this book is very helpful. Plenty of problems to go through. Very helpful when trying to review for exams or GRE math subject test. If you have never taken any calculus, the explanations here are in outline form and will not help you understand much. This book covers Calc 1-2-3 in most undergrad ...

Using the Cracking AP Calculus book for Exam review
The Cracking the AP Calculus Exam is an invaluable resource for students in preparing for the AP exam. It reinforces concepts learned in the classroom and provides further examples and practice. Students who use this as well as the teacher resources tend to score a 4 or 5 on the exam.

Calculus Lifesaver
This is a fantastic book. It has been over 30 years since I studied calculus in college and although I could perform the mechanics fairly well, this book provides insights and a level of real understanding that I had not acquired initially. There is no doubt that calculus students using this book will have a tremendous advantage.

Drop every other calculus book and get this one.
The Author, Mark Ryan, bush wacks all the clutter away. This is by far the best Calculus book I've owned and I own a few. He gets right into the concepts in a easy to understand way and breaks all the ideas down into ways you can relate to (no calculus pun intended). There are no long draw out cryptic proofs filled with a gazillion veriables and symbols and hard to understand einsteinian ...

More useful than a textbook (it's got the answers for both odd AND even problems!)
This book is amazing. It was more useful than my actual textbook. Not only did it help me remember what I learned in previous math classes, it explained the new things in ways that did not make my head explode (which I appreciated greatly).

Excellent way to get in to calculus!
This book follows the same great approach as the Manga Guide to Physics: Break a complex idea down in to small pieces, clearly explain it with practical examples, and use the fun Manga comic style to wrap the entire concept in a great story. I never took calculus in high school or college, yet I was able to get through the Guide and come out at the end with a pretty fair understanding of it. ...

Challenging but rewarding
This book has a thorough coverage of AP Calculus AB/BC. I used this book for the multiple-choice section and CollegeBoard's own materials for the free-response section. Most of my students scored 5. I also used some of chapters for my IB Mathematics SL and HL students. Most US high-school students feel calculus is too challenging for them since they did not have enough practice in algebra, ...

Probably the best Undergrad Calculus Text
I had this book for Calculus I, II, and III. It does a decent job at explaining everything and there are some good exercises in the book. If you actually read through the chapters, you will find yourself picking things up easier, and there are great examples in the reading. This is probably as good as you are going to get in a Undergraduate Calculus text. I find myself going back to it every ...

It is a great book to learn from!
Ok, it had been three years since I had taken Calc. I and II. I had signed up for classes again and I needed to relearn all the stuff from those two courses. At first, I used the book I had at juco and it was great too. Then, I ordered this book for Calc III and I started using that. I was able to teach myself the stuff of Calc I and II and I rocked Calc III.

Good for review
I have found this to be a good reference tool to ease back in to university classes that require calculus without having to spend money and time to sit through the classes again. This would also be helpful if you are having trouble understanding your current calc class. I liked the workbook. The step by step "work" helps.

A great initial treatment of the subject.
This is a great book for a general treatment of beginning calculus. It was definitely meant for people who have either already taken calculus or people who know nothing of it and want a easy intro. If your a non-mathematical student looking to prepare for your first calculus course this isn't a bad start, but you may want to consider augmenting it with a more complete text. As noted in another ...

Best calculus book on EARTH!
I actually purchased this book AFTER I had been an optical engineer for 15 years because my other two calculus books were, how you say, not so good for re-learning (or learning in the first place, for that matter). Thompson explains everything clearly, giving you the details you need to understand the subject matter. Honestly, it's the only book you'll need as an introduction to calculus. ...

This is an excelent book! I bought it right before my final exam (let me point out that I wasn't in the best conditions for that exam)and I passed, eventhough I thought it was impossible that I did. Amazing
This book was amazing. After failing calculus, I decided I needed some extra help other than just the assigned book. I tried the "Calculus for Dummies" book, as well as this (a friend loaned it to me), and this book was by far the biggest help. If you're having trouble with calculus, or are planning to take calculus, try to find this book. This book puts forth great information in an amusing ...

Beautiful book.
This is an absolutely beautiful book about the relationship through letters of a high school math teacher and one of his students who becomes a world class mathematician. It's about their lives and the mathematics that bound them together. I have read quite a few memoirs and don't recall any that choked me up like this one did, I want to thank Dr. Strogatz for being so open. Also, the math in the ...

You need this book!
If, and only if, you are capable of explaining technical things in non-technical terms, can it be said you truly understand them. Mark Zegarelli truly understands Calculus, and because he does, so will you upon working through his book. Too often, writers of mathematics books seem more interested in impressing their readers than teaching them. Many times, I have come away from such a book ...
