Official Soviet Mosin-Nagant Rifle Manual: Operating Instructions for the Model 1891/30 Rifle and Model 1938 ...4 reviews
U.S.S.R. Army

Paladin Press, 2000

Very informative book
This book is essential for anyone who owns a M44 type, Mosin Nagant rifle. It is easy to read and has some very detailed schematics. There is also some information that was supplied to Russian soldiers that show how to fight with the bayonet, etc. There is even a section showing how to shoot down enemy aircraft. Overall, it was well worth the money.

M1 Carbine Owners Manual1 review
Desert

Desert Pubns, 1984

Nice to have for enthusiasts
Any carbine lover knows all about his carbine, how it works, how it shoots, and how it feels in your hands. This manual is a great addition but not a must have. Very informative on operation, cleaning, field stripping, and reassembly. Great gift for a new carbine owner.

Civil War Sharps Carbines and Rifles1 review
Jerry Coates, John McAulay

Thomas Pubns, 1996

A decent book for its intended purpose ... still lacked info
This book should be well-liked by collectors and historians interested in the Civil War Sharps. I especially appreciated the raw purchase and issue data provided in the book. I do have one complaint. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of ANY reference to the New Model 1865 carbines and rifles. Like pretty much every other Sharps book out there, this one seems to pretty much ignore it and treat ...

SKS Carbine 7.62 x 39mm Assembly, Disassembly Manual1 review
Skennerton, Riling

Ray Riling Arms Books, 2004

Decent...
Decent book, nothing amazing. Some of the diagrams were simplistic and the quality wasn't anything to scream to your neighbor about. Most of the interior of the book was common knowledge (if you're knowledgeable about firearms) but it's still decent to keep around for reference if there's something your mind is slipping on.

Complete Guide to the M1 Garand and the M1 Carbine8 reviews
Bruce N. Canfield

Andrew Mowbray Pub, 1998

Any of Bruce Canfield's books are worth reading!
Bruce Canfield's books are always worthwhile reading for the interested student of history: he always explains the development and technical details of the firearm under review within its historical context, never slacking in detail yet somehow never getting bogged down in minutiae. If you don't already have _War Baby_ and are interested in the M1 Carbine, this is a worthwhile book; if you ...

Green Eyes and Black Rifles: Warriors Guide to the Combat Carbine8 reviews
Ret. SGM Kyle E. Lamb

Trample & Hurdle Publishers, 2008

GUN FIGHTING 101 - THE BASICS IN YOUR FACE
This book is a treasure trove of lessons learned through training and combat from a professional career warrior. This book coves the basics giving the reader the why and how to every tactic, technique and procedure. One of the things that make Special Operations Forces so good at what they do is that they have mastered the "basics" in all they do. This philosophy carries over into this work and ...

Official SKS Manual5 reviews

Paladin Press, 1997

The must-have book for the serious SKS owner
What better way to learn about a rifle than from the people who designed it? It contains everything you need to know about the SKS, including detailed instructions for breakdown and cleaning. It also contains military information that is fairly useless to the modern American reader (how to shoot at different kinds of targets), but that is interesting nevertheless.

The Book of Two Guns: The Martial Art of the 1911 Pistol and AR Carbine18 reviews
Tiger McKee

BookSurge Publishing, 2005

JEET KUNE DO of Gunfighting
McKee's BOOK OF TWO GUNS reminds me a lot of Bruce Lee's classic TAO OF JEET KUNE DO. Like TJKD, BOTG chronicles a man's learning experiences across a broad range of techniques. Also like Lee's book, McKee's is presented almost as a journal, full of the author's own sketches and with an organizational style that can be described as "freewheeling." Last, like Lee, McKee is interested in ...

The SKS Carbine, 4th Revised and Expanded Edition (Biotechniques Books)5 reviews
Steve Kehaya, Joe Poyer

North Cape Publications, Inc., 2008

Another must-have for the serious SKS owner
While it contains information that has been covered countless times elsewhere (weapon breakdown, cleaning, etc.) this book also contains a wealth of information I have not seen anywhere else: information on how to determine where your SKS came from, information on the various parts and the different versions of parts, what's interchangeable, what's not, etc. One of the best sections tells you ...

Joe Poyer

North Cape Pubns, 2007

A Great Referance Book
If you need to know the in's and out's of the Krag firearm systems, this is the place to go. Perhaps not everything but pretty close to it. A good book for a good price.

L. Ruth

Collector Grade Pubns, 1993

m1 carbine info and then some!
Destined for cult status among firearms collectors War Baby is an incredibly in-depth look at the development and production of the m1 carbine. I have read several m1 carbine books and this one is by far the most rich with facts and photos. Simply a must have for the carbine collector!

Carbine and Lance: The Story of Old Fort Sill3 reviews
Wilbur Sturtevant Nye

University of Oklahoma Press, 1983

A Solid Sense of History
Having lived in SW Oklahoma off and on for my entire life, I am fascinated with the history of the area. All those places I had visited so often I can now tie to events long before my time. Aside from solidifying my bonds to the region, COL Nye weaves an interesting and exciting tale of the Plains Indians and the rapidly growing USA. If your knowledge of frontier life comes from John Wayne ...

Carbine .30 M1, M1A1, M2 & M3 Assembly, Disassembly Manual2 reviews
Skennerton, Riling

Ray Riling Arms Books, 2004

Not worth buying.
This pamphlet gives the basic disassemble and reassemble instructions for the M1 Carbine. Nothing to in-depth; lacks details. I would not have bought this manual if I were able to page through and read parts of it first. Save your money.

Martini-Henry .450 Rifles & Carbines
Dennis Lewis

Excalibur Publications, 1996

The latter third of the nineteenth century was one of great power and responsibility for the British Empire, and with that power came wars that necessitated the design of a new breechloading rifle. This book traces the story of the rifles and carbines that were the mainstay of the British soldier through a series of Victorian wars. The book provides a general history of the series, with chaptes on all the various marks of rifles and ...
