Best Yet!
Linda Barnes is one of my favorite mystery writers. I love Carlotta, her little "sister", her psuedo-family. Heart of the World is the best yet--wonderful setting in South America and lots of heart-thumping action.

When Ellis meets Salinger!
College New York had its "Bright Light, Big City". Pre-grad L.A. had its "Less Than Zero". And now thirtysomething Milan has its "Acido". A novel that will cling your eyes from the first to the last page: catching, ironic and real.

A Totally GREAT book!
Carlotta's Kittens is an awesome book! It's exciting, adventurous, and hilarious! I rented it from the library and once I started reading the first and second chapters, I started loving it! I haven't read the first two books of the "Club Of Mysteries" series, but I still think it is one of the greatest books I've ever read! My favorite characters are Carlotta, Polo, Catnip, and Elvis. I loved all ...

The Forgotten Origins of the Libertarian Movement
Libertarians today are often considered extreme conservatives. Their opposition to taxation and government regulation is widely regarded as a defense of "big business" and the popular press, to the extent they mention libertarians at all, tends to see them as a branch of the Republican Party. But liberarianism is actually a radical philosophy with deep roots in the history of American reform ...

A Compelling, Well-Written Novel
It's refreshing to see the human side of the German culture during the Second World War. Not only is this novel filled with great history and drama, it's filled with characters that you grow to love and who you want to see succeed. I highly recommend this book.

Can't wait for the next book.
It was hard to put this book down. I fell in love the the characters, they really became alive. The book gives a deeper understanding of the feminine energies. A wonderful mystical battlefield between the dark and light forces. I loved it.

Westward Ho, Carlotta!
This book is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Parents should read it to their children--they'll probably enjoy it more than the kids. It's hilarious (and that includes the pictures). They're distorted but work well with the story.

This novel by relative newcomer William Agnone is both original and exciting. I hope this will not be the last I see from this new author.

Ripe for Re-release!
To the powers that be: Please re-release this wonderful book, one of the best by Linda Barnes, and certainly worthy of attention from readers new and old. In this Carlotta Carlyle classic, a serial killer is stalking Hispanic women, all illegal aliens, in Carlotta's native Boston. The murders are grisly and vicious, and fear of being sent back to their equally grisly and vicious native lands are ...

Great story!
Carlotta's Secret is one of the best things to happen to contemporary children's mystery fiction. She is the kind of heroine that children and adults can admire. Carlotta's Secret was an entertaining read for me and my six-year old son. The pacing was good, the storyline hit right at the heart of a child's imagination and the Webster Street Gang will easily become the 21st century's version of ...

Carlotta Turns Serious
In the fifth of Linda Barnes' very enjoyable Carlotta Carlyle series, the main character comes into her own as a PI. Although she still has a wry sense of humor, a self-deprecating streak, and daily contact with a cast of outrageous characters, this story is a serious one. Carlotta is approached by a distraught woman, Emily, who is accompanied on the visit by her young and handsome psychiatrist. ...

good, solid, informative read
When the Soviet Union imploded, the Chechens made a bolt for freedom. Russia has launched two major wars to bring the rebels to heel since then. This action-packed book describes the first campaign, the 1994-96 war, which caused 60,000 fatalities and a host of human rights violations. The second one is continuing and the death toll has already surpassed that of Russia's first, failed campaign. ...

Her best ever!
All the Carlotta Carlyle series books are wonderful but this is the best yet. Thank you, Linda Barnes! A strange premise to start out with and lots of other threads from other places but they all come together. It's a joy to see the characters grow and mature. Then, just like in real life, some don't grow at all. I couldn't stop reading.

This is a true story for balloon lovers!
Do you like balloons? If so, this is the book for you. The story is true and took place in 1882. I loved it. There were four characters: Carlotta, Ariel, Bernard, and Mr. Myers. I think kids and their friends should read this book. It did take a long time to read, but it was good.

Cops on the Take!
Carlotta Carlyle from A TROUBLE WITH FOOLS, gets stuck with a none functioning bathroom, her little sister in Columbia, a mentor who makes the papers as a crooked cop and a young teen who finds life on the streets preferable to home. A fine continuance for a budding detective who knows no other way than to keep plugging away until all the layers of Boston sleaze are stripped away. Into her life ...
