I read this to my children every night
I agree with the other 150+ people who think this is an amazing book that every child and adult should own. It's definitely a "feel good" book. My children love it and so do I.

Everyone should Read this
I have never had the urge to write a review before, but this book has overwhelmingly compelled me to do so. What made this book an astonishing standout to me was not only the constant gripping action, but the brutal honesty with which the author writes. Brutal honesty not only about the events, but the real and hardcore emotions he goes through in dealing with the events as they unfold. It ...

THE TALE OF A VERY PUSHY MOUSE!
This is the first offering of a wonderfully delightful series of like stories for children. If You Give a Mouse A Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond tell the story, and the problems you might run into, if you should happen to give a overly active and demanding mouse a cookie. The story begins with a young boy innocently setting by his sidewalk in front of his house. ...

I loved this book!
I fell in love with all of the characters and lived through their trials right along with them. I felt their cold, hunger, fear and despair but also their love for life and optimism. This is a book I could imagine reading again even though my pile of unread books is daunting. This one is a keeper.

Outstanding.
It's a shame the publisher decided to put a picture on the cover of Steve McQueen wrapped up in the barbed wire at the end of his big motorcycle escape attempt. Because, you see, that never happened in the TRUE story of the Great Escape contained in this book. The movie (while good) took serious dramatic license, while Brickhill's book presents the facts. And they are quite inspiring and ...

Little Prince speaks to the child in me
I was an adult when i read this book, and i really appreciated the lessons in life that Saint-Exupery shares through the Little Prince. A great book, full of beautiful illustrations, easy to read, while fun and sad at the same time. I personally read it as if Exupery is sharing with us the conversations he has with his own inner child, in the image of the Little Prince. That is why the ...

Absolutely Outstanding- wonderfully illustrated too!
This is the most impressive book yet on cajun/ creole cooking. Outstanding in every way (except perhaps the cornbread, all of which had sugar in it, and grandma would whop him over the head with her iron skillet for THAT). Can't wait to cook from this. The recipes, history, festivals, photos, and everything else make this HUGE book indeed an encyclopedia. Impressive that the Italian and German ...

Essential reading for strength training.
I have a huge collection of books, many on strength training and fitness, this is the one I refer to most frequently. This book is only about muscle anatomy as relates to strength training. As such it really helps you to focus your energy to where you need it. and I add that I think the book is helpful in preventing many injuries.

Outstanding, but an update is overdue!
I bought this book in 2003, and it covered most of the bases then, but only the movies through 1998 ("Insurrection" IIRC; "Nemesis" is not covered.), and the 5th season of Voyager. It just covered the last season of DS9. And of course it has none of the "Enterprise" series. There have also been events such as the Paramount auction of all the series and movie paraphernalia since then, and ...

Ingenuity. Imagination. Depictions. Diagrams.
Put these four things together--ingenuity, imagination, depictions, diagrams-- and you have a double ID toward understanding how things work. David Macaulay and Neil Ardley put together a magnificent volume for children and children at heart containing a way of understanding the laws of physics and mechanics. The first illustration even shows God busy creating the rotation of the earth. Then ...

A Story of Courage and Hope
I real a lot of fiction, and this book was a departure from my usual literary fare. I was not disappointed. I listened to the book on CD during a long drive and was hooked. As a CASA, I understand how the system works, and how often children are under-served. On the flip side, I have encountered wonderful foster/adoptive families who have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children. ...

As Good as Biography Gets
This fully lives up to its reputation as perhaps the best biography ever written. Manchester does a peerless, masterful job filling in the background colors and giving a complete picture of Churchill from a young man into his early fifties. As Manchester emphasizes, this background was essentially the decline and fall of the British Empire and the aristocracy who ran it. Manchester's main point, ...

Practical and useful for the professional
I am an editor these days. I came on this book quite a few years ago when I was a sub. It was recommended to me by an old hand in the newspaper game. Without doubt, it is the single best aquisition I have made in terms of newspaper design. In the places I have worked, I have been regarded extremely highly for my layout skills. This book, with a little creativity, is the basis of almost ...
