Organic Chemistry I as a Second Language: Translating the Basic Concepts102 reviews
David M. Klein

Wiley, 2007

A Very Good Supplement
This book is invaluable as a supplement to your textbook. I have used this book in conjunction with every chapter we have covered so far in O-chem I, and it has been especially helpful in getting me grounded in the basics, so when the harder problems come like synthesis reactions they don't seem as daunting. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone in organic, and they should start ...

Great Chem book!
This Chemistry book is great! It is surprisingly easy to read and understand. It is really helping me with my chem class. For some reason i enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy reading harry potter.

Great practice problems, with answers. I like that the sections refer to the lectures and tell you where you need improvement.

USMLE Step 2 Secrets37 reviews
Theodore X. O'Connell MD, Adam Brochert MD

Mosby, 2010

great book for a quick review, use other sources too
This book was great. I scored in the 99th percentile by skimming this book twice, USMLE world, and a quick read through First Aid for Step 2 CK for basic information and understanding. My advice would be to read through Secrets as you take USMLE world and take notes in the book [some of the info is out of date but you can update as you go]. Studied about 3 1/2 weeks with only these 3 sources.

Examkrackers 1001 Questions in MCAT Chemistry18 reviews
Scott Calvin, Jonathan Orsay

Osote Publishing, 2002

Best MCAT study package EVER.
These 1001 questions books along with the Audio Osmosis and their MCAT study package raised my MCAT score 4 points after I bombed the first one trying to study with Kaplan. Highly recommend for MCAT study, as well as physics, chemistry, bio, and ochem classes. I wish I had these books for those classes because they would have made the concepts a breeze.

The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic ...1 review
Sam Kean

Little, Brown and Company, 2010

Accessible science for any age
I have to confess I didn't pay much attention to chemistry. Once the instructor talked about electrons, protons, atoms and the nucleus I usually turned on my Walkman (the cassette kind, now antique!). It never seemed interesting because it wasn't something that related at all to real life. If I had a teacher like Sam Kean, however, that could have been different. Fast forward too many ...

From Fatigued to Fantastic49 reviews

Avery, 1900

Excellent Reference to Healing
Having CFS, at first I considered this book a joke. As sick as I was, how could Dr. T's SHINE protocol help me? But as I took a closer look, I realized that he was on to something...with his serious look at hidden viruses, and the recent attention called to the XMRV virus it was evident that a clearing out of viral infections is key to getting well. And sleep -- I had become so accustomed to ...

David L. Nelson, Michael M. Cox

W. H. Freeman, 2008

Very Cheap and Fast Shipping
The seller processed the order very quickly and shipped the item faster than expected. The book was brand new as promised. This book is very helpful in discovering the different metabolic processes that are occurring in the body. This is an essential need for anyone interested in medical school, biochemistry, bioengineering, and biochemical engineering. For the engineers interested in learning ...

Chemistry13 reviews
Steven S. Zumdahl, Susan A. Zumdahl

Brooks Cole, 2006

Outstanding
I used this book for my AP Chemistry class last year, and this is one special textbook. It is extremely clear and straight-forward, and it explains even complicated ideas (such as acid-base chemistry, thermodynamics, and electrochemistry) completely, concisely, and with many step-by-step examples. It even outlines the basic steps to take when approaching certain types of problems. The best ...

Kinetics of Catalytic Reactions--Solutions Manual

Springer, 2005

This advanced textbook teaches readers to design kinetic experiments involving heterogeneous catalysts, to characterize these catalysts, to acquire rate data, to find heat and mass transfer limitations in these data, to select reaction models, to derive rate expressions based on these models, and to assess the consistency of these rate equations. Special emphasis is placed on assessing mass transfer effects. Discussion of adsorption isotherms ...

Occult Chemistry Clairvoyant Observations on the Chemical Elements1 review

Public Domain Books, 2005

Lacks illustrations -- don't waste your time.
This version of the book does not include the illustrations. Since the illustrations are referred to frequently, this greatly diminishes the value of the book. It is akin to trying to study anatomy through text only. You will miss a lot. Project Gutenberg has an illustrated version that you can read on your computer for free.

Cracking the AP Chemistry Exam, 2010 Edition (College Test Preparation)5 reviews
Princeton Review

Princeton Review, 2009

The best AP Chemistry book
This Princeton Review AP Chemistry book is very concise and accurate. I use it as a reference for my high-school chemistry, SAT II Chemistry, and AP Chemistry students. If you want even more examples and exercises, combine this book with Schaum's Beginning Chemistry Third Edition by David E. Goldberg.

The Metabolic Typing Diet: Customize Your Diet to Your Own Unique Body Chemistry117 reviews
William Linz Wolcott, Trish Fahey

Broadway, 2002

Certainly great for practitioners.
As a practitioner I found this to be a fantastic read. It is rather dense so I'm not sure that a good deal of the general public will be able to get through it. I don't think it works to well for the untrained reader, especially since it gets into the history of the research behind this discipline, as well as a lot of physiological content. Despite that, it is well written so even if you're ...

Crush Step 2: The Ultimate USMLE Step 2 Review60 reviews
Adam Brochert MD

Mosby, 2007

Very good!
This book provides comprehensive preview for step 2 CK. Focuses on next step in management of commonly asked diseases. Uses paragraphs instead of bullets for easy, coherent reading.

Tarascon Adult Emergency Pocketbook, 4E10 reviews
Steven G. Rothrock

Jones and Bartlett Publishers, Inc., 2008

Exactly what I was looking for
I loved the 3E of this pocketbook, but it hadn't been updated for the new ACLS so I stopped using it. Now that the update is out, I've come back to using this book every day. A previous reviewer noted that the index is not as good as maybe it could have been, but I find it easier (in this case) to use the TOC as the starting point anyway.
