No light reading...
This book, or another like it, are for me necessary to even partially understand the capabilities of a massive program like PS. A "lessons" CD comes with it; I wouldn't recommend buying any book without that assist.
The Differentiated Classroom: Responding to the Needs of All Learners

Instruction should fit the student!
Throughout so much of the history of American public education, the students were subjected to a one-size-fits-all model of instruction where the teacher stood in the front of the classroom and lectured while students were expected to take notes or otherwise "learn" what they were being told. Differentiated instruction puts an end to such torture (okay, there are some learners who thrive in that ...

An Excellent Primer on 2.0 Tools in the Classroom
I primarily taught higher education students and I thought that this might be aimed at a lower age group - but it's applicable to adults in many cases. I really appreciated the theoretical side of the book - which wasn't inaccesible - and the many practical examples.

A Practical How-To Guide, Especially for Challenging Students
Far from being dry theory or college-class textbook, this book is full of useful methods for dealing with classroom-management situations. Sprick suggests, first of all, which behaviors to ignore. These can include comments such as "More junk to do!" Talking back can be handled initially by a mild consequence. This allows the student a graceful means of backing off. Individuals who talk at ...

Hey, this is still a good book to buy.
I have read other reviews and I have found a lot of negativity. This book does tell you that these (the strategies named in the book) strategies do work because of research indicating that it does affect student behavior. And, it does indeed tell you how to do things in the classroom, and it tells you what to change or address. So, yes go ahead and buy this book...its good stuff. The actual book ...

Great book BUT don't make the same mistake I did...
This is one of the most helpful texts that I have purchased in the past year. It is easy to read and gives lots of examples as well as many points to ponder. HOWEVER, (if it matters to you)- make sure that you do not get the BOOK ALONE version. There is an online component that you need an access code to, which doesn't come with the book unless you buy the other version (I believe it said ...

Excellent Text on Differentiated Instruction
This is an excellent book that we used in a graduate school class that I took on middle school curriculum. The book is very readable and doesn't overwhelm the reader with an excessive number of techniques. It is very practical and hands on. Some parts come off as a bit utopian, but as long as the reader stays grounded it is not a problem.

Great but borrow it
This book was amazing but could have all been summarized by a table in the first chapter stating the most effective strategies and their effect sizes. This information is needed by every teacher, but as the whole book can be summarized in one table, you may want to borrow it.

Truly comprehensive, informative, and well-researched!
I felt I should write this review after seeing the bad wrap it got from another reviewer. I am doing my thesis on classroom discipline and out of all the books I've read on the subject, this one gave me the best insight and critique of the history of discipline research as well as great ideas for teachers on how to go about creating their own classroom management plan. This book touched on all ...

Nice book but some big errors
This book works out well, but Chapter 14: Working with Online Data doesn't work. The sample finished file doesn't display the tables correctly, and when you're finished, yours won't either!

Used for my college course...
I think the book is an easy read text. I had to order it for my college course. If you are an experienced teacher, then there really is no new information in here if you are up to date on assessment strategies. However, for a new teacher, it would be helpful.

A must have for teachers
This is an easy to read book with an easy and practical approach to setting limits in your classroom. Easy to implement and really works. I am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and see many children with behavioral issues. Using the ideas in this book has helped many children learn to control their behavior and enjoy school more. The key is to be consistant! I highly recommend this ...

I am very glad I bought this book. I have been enrolled in a graphic web design class since March of 2010 (it ends in July of 2010) for the purposes of building my Professional Development company. I desperately needed extra practice, because I did not desire to slow down the pace of the class. With this book, I have been practicing lessons at my own pace. Anything I do not fully understand, I ...

Classroom in a book does it again.
As usual Adobe's Classroom in a book series is the best. If you are new to Adobe, this series of books will take you from being a beginner to havein experience using most of the software's functions. If you then follow this book's training and use the skills presented within the book you will most likely develope the skills of an intermediate user. There are 14 lessons included in the book and ...
