Trolls, Elves and Fairies Coloring Book (Dover Pictorial Archives)6 reviews
Jan Sovak

Dover Publications, 2002

Beautiful coloring book
I have given this coloring book to my girls two years in a row. This is an excellent alternative to Disney characters and other more commonly found coloring pages. The creatures in this book are beautiful and contain enough detail to challenge and inspire creativity in an older child, while the quality of the paper can stand the abuse of a toddler. Highly recommend.

These are the most precious drawings.
I have a large collection of these dover adult coloring books. I must das these illustrations are darling. Being an adult I still can enjoy some fantasy in my life. I recommend these for relaxation. I find that Primsacolor colored pencils work the best for shading and making wonderful creative creations. Highly recommend these books. Wonderful World of Horses Coloring Book (Dover Colouring Books)9 reviews
John Green

Dover Publications, 2005

Magnificent Horses
Page after page of beautifully drawn horses in various poses, many of them are action poses. A few of the pictures feature riders but most are just of the horses--which was my preference. The drawings are large and easy to color, and there is also lots of background with mountains, trees, rocks and even rivers/streams. I am an adult colorer, but I think anyone from about the age of six ...

Excellent Biology Study Book
This book is VERY detailed...the coloring is definately geared at High School level+. The details in the descriptions and pictures are very good, and the hands on approach of coloring gives a real feel for where parts are located. Excellent for home-schooling!

Geometrical Design Coloring Book (Colouring Books)14 reviews
Spyros Horemis

Dover Publications, 1973

Awesome book for young artists!
I purchased this book for my 7-year-old last year--a girl who loves art and math equally well. It has been 8 months and she STILL pulls out this book every week or so to work on a picture...and the results are really beautiful. It's detailed enough that she feels accomplished with her work and clean enough that it's not overwhelming. I highly recommend it!

Infinite Designs Coloring Book (Dover Coloring Book)4 reviews
Muncie Hendler

Dover Publications, 2006

not AMAZING, but matched expectations
Simply put, if you want a difficult/advanced/challenging coloring book... don't order this one. You can tell from the cover what the designs are like. They are simple, repetitive patterns. They did match my expectations and I got what I wanted. So FIVE STARS because the product met my expectations, but a WARNING to those out there who are looking for something MORE CHALLENGING.

A Coloring Book of Incas, Aztecs and Mayas4 reviews
Bellerophon Books

Bellerophon Books, 1985

Excellent PreColumbian Material
This is a great book to use in middle and some high school classes. It shows the artwork, style and abilities of PreColumbian artist. Actual figures and glyphs from various archaeologial sites and museum codex pages give history, geography and anthropology students a real sense of PreColumbian life styles, interest, history and religions.

Botany Coloring Book (HarperCollins Coloring Books (Not Childrens))6 reviews
Paul Young

Collins, 1982

This study technique works well for me.
At first you have to hide the fact that at, age 53, you are using a coloring book! Nevertheless I have stuck with it through a number of pages and have found out that my retention and ability to recall through visualizing the diagrams increases many fold versus the read and think method. When I revisit the pages to study the topic it comes back much easier. The book seems to be a good balance ...

Art Masterpieces to Color: 60 Great Paintings from Botticelli to Picasso (Dover Colouring Books)6 reviews
Dover

Dover Publications, 2004

Art Masterpieces to Color: 60 Great Paintings from Botticelli to Picasso
Wonderful book! I like the summaries of the artist, the orginal pictures for examples, and the amount of detail for a beginner to moderate colorer is not too much. I bought this book for myself (44 years old), Dad (82) and Mother (78). This will be the Christmas gift this year for everyone in my family.

The Titanic Coloring Book5 reviews
Peter F. Copeland

Dover Publications, 1997

If you judge a book by its cover
A book that invites children to color in scenes from a well-known disaster is probably as horrifying, as sinking in the ship itself. After being exposed to the media hype and all of the other coverage surrounding the film release and the Oscars, the last thing I would want is for children who color, which means they are usually of pre-school age, let their imagination run wild with a box of ...

Makes Learning Fun
This neat book is a great way to help your child or student learn about art and the great masterpieces (or yourself, if you prefer to use a fun method to teach yourself). Users get to color masterpieces in their own way, and the opposite page gives a brief, easy-to-read-and-understand description of the work of art and artist. Coloring books tend to be useful tools in teaching children, as they ...
