Fingerprint: The Art of Using Hand-Made Elements in Graphic Design20 reviews
Chen Design Associates

How, 2006

Excellent
To tell you the truth, I bought this item on a whim. I was much more satisfied with this graphic design book than others I have purchased recently. It is excellent if you are a visual consumer like I am. I would highly recommend the seller. It was promptly sent and received. Thanks a million for this jewel!

The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, 2nd edition95 reviews
Edward R. Tufte

Graphics Press, 2001

Masterpiece of graphic design proves timeless and universal
I returned to Tufte's first classic book of graphic design principles over 20 years after first discovering it. At the time, I was the corporate librarian for a major electric utility, and the explosion in the organization and creation of information by individuals with new personal-computer hardware and software was just beginning (I had an IBM PC-XT with 640Kb of RAM and two 360k floppies--no ...

Things I have learned in my life so far38 reviews
Stefan Sagmeister

Abrams, 2008

Sagmeister Always Rocks
Like his first book, this one is filled with clever design details and insights into his process. Unlike the typical designer, Sagmeister speaks of his process in terms that more are akin to self-improvement and self-analysis and than technique, giving us plebians insight into how the master works. A must for any design oficionado.

Digital Wedding Photography: Capturing Beautiful Memories82 reviews
Glen Johnson

Wiley, 2006

Photographer
I received the book digital Wedding Photography in less than a week and I am so very impressed. Took me three days to finish reading, but so worth it. It had more information than I expected and I will refer back to it many times, because I won't be able to retain it all. Would like to meet the author in person some time and didn't know he lives in the same town as me. I want to learn so much ...

Designing Brand Identity: A Complete Guide to Creating, Building, and Maintaining Strong Brands43 reviews
Alina Wheeler

Wiley, 2006

Very thorough with great examples
I used this book for a graphic design course that I'm taking and it was very informative as well as thorough. It was interesting to read about all of the brand identities and how logos really affect the way a company is viewed. I like the detail, the graphics and the comparisons for the different logos. This helped me in developing a good design for my project.

J.C. Leyendecker5 reviews
Laurence S. Cutler, Judy Goffman Cutler

Abrams, 2008

FIVE STARS!!!! Finally!!!
Having waited for YEARS for a good book on Leyendecker, the wait is over. We not only have one but two. I am very happy with this product. The reproductions are very good. While the book does catalog all of the artists covers (SEP, Colliers, etc), the result is well done. Typically, there are nine covers on one page and on the facing page is a repo of the actual artwork from one of the covers. I ...

The Design of Everyday Things149 reviews
Donald A. Norman

Basic Books, 2002

A Must Read for every Designer
As a human being we think we know other people and how they see and use products. This book tells many amusing anecdotes about products that were not successful because the designer made the things is a way he would have liked and not in the way real users use it. The book is written full of humor and with real passion for the subject.

Visual Explanations: Images and Quantities, Evidence and Narrative37 reviews
Edward R. Tufte

Graphics Press, 1997

another great book by Tufte on graphs
In this third book by Tufte on graphics, he provides great examples through history where good pictures conveyed important information to decision makers and bad graphics left uncetainty and indecision. A great success story is the identification of the source of the cholera epidemic in London in the 1850s. With regard to the Challenger Space Shuttle, Tufte suggests that one good picture may have ...

Layout Workbook: A Real-World Guide to Building Pages in Graphic Design14 reviews
Kristen Cullen

Rockport Publishers, 2007

Check out the whole series!
This was the first book that I bought in Rockport's series of graphic design books. It provides great information for designing layouts and even shows examples from real publications. The only gripe I have is the small font was a bit hard to read in a dimly lit room (but most trendy publications are that way now). But despite that, the book is still readable in good lighting and provides ...

Fashion Artist (Fashion Design Series)18 reviews
Sandra Burke

Burke Publishing, 2006

Oh, how I wish I had this in school!
I wore holes in piles of paper trying to work up to the basic points so magnificently outlined in this book! It's like having an art teacher with you (without the snide remarks) to bring your abilities to the top. If you are planning on studying fashion, or just doing it for fun, you need this book. Highly recommended!

Time Bandit: Two Brothers, the Bering Sea, and One of the World's Deadliest Jobs48 reviews

This book can hardly be laid down, which is surprising for its genre. It was received in the condition advertised.

Design Elements: A Graphic Style Manual12 reviews
Timothy Samara

Rockport Publishers, 2007

Well written and fun!
Amazing book by Timothy. It's perfect for young designers, unlike myself, who need to learn basics in graphic design. As a more experienced professional I had fun reading the book and I'm gonna keep it in my office for use of all new interns so they find out a little more by themselves. The only downside I see is the small grey texts, but fortunately my eyes are still in perfect conditions.

A very good read for aspiring designers
This book is a must-read for recent design school graduates and aspiring designers. It provides useful insight into the world of graphic design--the ethics of being a designer, different ways designers can work, how to get a job, and the creative process. This book also features interviews with designers.

Betty Edwards

Tarcher, 2004

colour mixing
Color by Betty Edwards: A Course in Mastering the Art of Mixing Colors Very good book for a beginner and quite useful to the more serious. Arrived within 8 days of placing my order and i used standard delivery. Superb. This book is a natural progression from Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain by the same author. It's a shame that it's only available in the USA. Lived up to my ...

Guidelines for Online Success5 reviews

TASCHEN America Llc, 2008

Finally a book on design philosophy
Like the author said in the book, this is not a for Dummies book. It is a book though that is needed more than phyically being skilled to create a site. It's one thing to know how to physically put together a website but its a nother thing to create a website that gets attention. This book is filled with expert advice from various web design gurus across the world. And I must say that this ...

Confessions of a Street Addict166 reviews
Jim J. Cramer

Simon & Schuster, 2002

The Cramer You Never Knew
This is a great book. I've watched Jim Cramer on television, but never knew the whole story. From his days working as a reporter, to his time at Harvard Law School, on to Goldman Sachs, and eventually his own hedge fund. This is an up close and personal look at one of America's favorite money men. I highly recommend this book.
