Robert E. Howard The Great
I will just make this short and to the point. 'speechless'. He was a master at storytelling. I would recommend this to any one who enjoys the sword/sorcery genre. I have this in hardbound, but cannot find vol 1 and 2 in hardbound.

the best comic ever
What comics do well is fast, abbreviated action. Comics at their best are like a sped-up movie. Good comics are often "cheesy", but in a good way: over-the-top, wildly inventive, no-holds-barred attempts to entertain, to give everything a great b-movie gives, only for a lower price tag and in a form you can carry with you. What more could anyone ask? In the Gold and Silver ages of comics ...

Great!
If you enjoy reading fantasy, enjoying a great tale, or just a good read, then you really should read this Graphic Novel. Yes, a graphic novel is nothing but a collection of 'comic' books into one volume and yes, I know how many people look down on comics. However, this is a very good read. It is the story of Conan's youth in Cimmeria, from his birth until just after the sack of Vennarium. It ...

to tread the jeweled thrones...
When I was young, mid to late 70's, I would read issue after issue of Savage Sword more than any other comic or magazine. It was my favorite, and I had quite a large number of issues. Unfortunately, I lost my collection in a fire in the late 80's. When I found that Dark Horse was re-printing the issues of Savage Sword as volumes, and that those volumes would be available here at Amazon, I ...

Primal Blood and Guts Fantasy!
This includes three of Howards longer Conan stories, including one that is full novel length, one rough draft of another story, Howards notes on the stories preceding their completion, two essays pertaining to Howard and his writings by people who helped put this book together and on top of all that its full of illustrations throughout the book. Very affordable and the quality of the stories are ...

superior
This entire series of reproductions of the classic Conan comics from the 1960s and 1970s is superior. The details are incredible and the colors are more vivid than in the originals and the paper quality is superior and you will not have to worry about preservation. A great substitute for the originals ( and more affordable).

Cool Rendition of Howard's work
I've really enjoyed this series, because the authors have tried to be faithful to Howard's creation, and they've done a fine job. Savage Sword and the Dark Horse series are the two best comic titles I've ever read. The King Conan series is good too. Hopefully Dark Horse will publish it once they finish the regular Conan title.

Great reprint
I'm very happy with Darkhorse's reprints of the Savage Sword of Conan magazines. The quality is excellent and they are collected in the order they were originally printed. The wonderful stories and terrific artwork are still as timeless as they were back in the early 70's.

Ahhhh, Classic Conan!!
I owned all of these originals when I was a teen back in the mid-to-late 70's. Back then, Savage Sword of Conan was cutting edge in comics. Both in size and scope, as well as edgy violence and nudity, something the comics code was ALL against back then, Savage Sword was eye-catching, non-stop action/adventure fantasy that brought together top-notch artists and writers that broke new ground. ...

Sword and sorcery rules and Howard is the King!
First, I must say that I am a woman. Many have found it unusual that I would love Robert E. Howard's work, but I do. I have all of his stories, and am grateful there are new editions to replace my poor crumbling paperbacks. As a writer of fantasy Robert E. Howard is a must read for any interested in the genre. We take for granted the acceptance of fantasy in literature today, but in the ...

There are fairies at the bottom of our garden
A delightful book. In 1920, two girls in Yorkshire took photos which they said showed fairies in the woods near their home. The pictures are such obvious fakes (made with paper cutouts, as the girls later admitted) that it's amazing to think anyone could be taken in. And yet many were, including the creator of Sherlock Holmes, who wrote this book! This is a reprint, with an introduction ...

This volume contains some of the most ambitious adaptations of Conan material to date, reprinting the epic battle that leads to Conan becoming the king of Aquilonia in "Conan the Liberator," the sword and sorcery classic "Sword of Skelos," and the exhilarating "Conan and the Sorcerer." Collecting selections from The Savage Sword of Conan the Barbarian issues 49 through 60, this volume also includes the frontispieces and pinups from each issue, ...

Relive the magic!
All of the volumes in this series are masterful. These are the comics I grew up with, but with them being re-colored, they've never looked so vibrant. The artwork is brilliant, but I'm a Buscema man through and through. Roy Thomas, what can you say about this relentless teller of tales? He's a writing demon, and he kept pumping out those amazing stories issue after issue. If he wasn't re-working ...

Superior to "The Chronicles..." Buy it!
I have the first 3 in this series: The Frost Giant's Daughter And Other Stories, The God In The Bowl And Other Stories and The Tower Of The Elephant And Other Stories. I find the artwork to be superior to the "Chronicals of Conan", and there is always at least one original Howard tale included in these books. The "Other Stories" stand up very well to the Howard adventures. They are very much ...

Barry Windsor-Smith's final and greatest Conan stories
The one substantive complaint about these reprints of the "Conan the Barbarian" comic books that Dark Horse has been reprinting has been that the original covers drawn by Barry Windsor-Smith for Marvel Comics have been omitted. That omission is mitigated somewhat by Volume 4 of "The Chronicles of Conan," which has the splash page from "Red Nails" as the cover. I have a strong affection for this ...

Conan Rules
The Art here is unbelievable, and the storytelling is excellent. I highly recommend this book, and this series. This is Conan, the way it should be told. The creators have made a beautiful and fitting tribute to one of the greatest fantasy characters of all-time. This is compelling, page turning adventure on the highest level.

UNFINISHED HOWARD TALE
Robert E. Howard wrote a number of fantastic Conan stories in his lifetime but The Hall of the Dead was not one of them. Not that The Hall of the Dead isn't fantastic, but rather Howard didn't write it, at least not in full. Years after his suicide in 1936, numerous Howard material was found, which included a number of unpublished stories as well as various fragments and outlines for other ...

An excellent volume
I had to respond to the individual who left a one star review, and provide a more balanced perspective, because he's out to lunch. These Dark Horse Conan comics are better (to me far better) than the regular Marvel series from the 1970s and 80s (Savage Sword was generally well done though). The artwork is fantastic, the dialogue is crisp, and most importantly the mood and sudden intensity of ...

Another winner from Dark Horse's Conan
Dark Horse follows up the excellent "Frost Giant's Daughter" with another outstanding adaptation of a Robert Howard Original. Kurt Busiek takes a minor Conan story and builds another epic around it. Although many fans consider Bowl to be a little slow and one of Howard's lesser works, Busiek and Nord manage a very competent adaptation which is faithful and entertaining even if you have read it ...

Worthless guide. Save your money! Not only that but I am very sorry I bott this game. Thott I would enjoy a change from WOW which I have played for about two years. It is a change alright. Be careful voting for change, might get an unpleasant surprise as I did. Actually the game is about par with Guild Wars which one can play without cost online after the purchase of the game. I will not ...
