First and favorite book for our twin girls!
We received this book as a gift and started reading it to the girls at bedtime when they were about 4 months old. The pictures are big and beautiful and as a parent you will never forget the words! My husband and I used to bet how far in the book we could get without yawning ourselves! Our girls are almost 3 now and they still love it. This book is a really wonderful gift for new parents!

Best Children's book
My son received this as a baby gift ( He is 19 now.) It was the most read book of his toddler years. Quick, delightful bedtime story. I have given it as a gift several times my self. I was so happy to be able to find it on Amazon.

Never Too Young to Learn to Read
Dr.Martin has demonstrated the beauty of repetition in developing vocabulary in young children. The colors will excite the toddler and instill a love of reading. His companion book, "Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?" follows the identical technique. However, as a childhood educator, Dr. Martin should know that snakes do not have ears and cannot hear. But Eric Carle's hissing boa ...

Funny and Has Great Themes!
I am a first grade teacher and was able to use this book in many different ways. The students understood that cows can not type and actually understood the humor. I used the letters in the story to show how to write a letter and ask for something. With older students there is the theme of bartering and scarcity. I found MANY great ideas as an educator for the use of this book. It is great!

Love this book!
I didn't know what all the hype was over these books until we read them. My daughter who is 10 months LOVES this book...she loves the part when the "three singing pigs say LA LA LA" she loves to say LALALA....then at the end when you read it's quiet now what do you say"- She goes LALALALALA so funny! This has become our new favorite book- I highly recommend this!

Gold Bug
My two boys loved this book. I read it to them many, many times. It was our game to find the gold bug on each page. Now I have bought a copy of this book for each of my grandchildren.Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks from A to Z (A Chunky Book(R))

Dog Heaven is Heavenly
I received this book as a gift from my husband a few days after our sweet Beagle, Max, departed this earth to run free in the forests of heaven. The colorful illustrations are thoroughly charming and the story is comforting and touching in equal measure. The final page brought tears to my eyes--not all that uncommon in the days after Max's death. I recommend "Dog Heaven" to anyone who has loved ...

Perfect for a child's first school days
The Kissing Hand is a story that I share with my preschoolers and their parents the first day of school. I encourage them to share a "kissing hand" with Mom or Dad, especially when they might be a little sad as they leave for school each day.

Doesn't get much better than this.
I think this is one of those books that every child should experience. It's picture based (as opposed to text based) so there's a delightful interactive element and the child can rather tell his own tell about Harold as together they follow the purple crayon from page to page...inviting you and your child into the book to explore. So simple, it's rather Zen. And lovely. Must, must, must for ...

Oh, my brothers! Oh, my sisters!
This is Seuss at his best! All kids enjoy this book, mostly because of Dr. Seuss' infectious rhyming and made-up words, but partially because it's fun to hear your mom or dad stumble and trip over silly tongue-twisters. My boys cheer if I can make it all the way through the freezy cheese trees. I bring this book with me when I do story times, because it's a consistent crowd favorite. Nothing like ...

the best of the best
Anne McCaffrey is the quintessential writer of fantasy books pertaining to dragons. These books are always wonderful, well written, and perfectly characterized. All of her series are great but the ones that take place on Pern are the best of all.

Excellent early Kindergarten reading!
The series has been renumbered yet again. The new ISBN for the first set is 0439845009. Bob Books come in 5 sets on 3 levels, and they cover the fundamentals of reading through about half of the Kindergarten level, which is lower than either of the other programs. Each set contains 8-12 books for the child to read, with a line or two of text per page. Unlike many programs, there is little ...

Parents love this book too!
My 3 children all loved this book. And I loved reading it to them - over and over and over again. I recently bought this book for my grandson and I am again reading it - over and over and over again! This book is for little ones especially 2-4 years - and parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles of all ages. The text is very simple ("I am a bunny, my name is Nicolas, I live in a hollow tree") ...

Great book for (almost) all ages
This book kept my husband's and my interest when our twin boys were 0-12 months - most other board books are pretty boring for an adult reader; this one is not. And when the boys were 0-12 months, if they got fussy while we were out of the house, the boys would love it when I would recite it from memory. Now that the boys are 18 months, they don't quite have the attention span to sit through the ...

Wonderful book
Our son LOVES "choo chooooos" and this book is colorful, creative and memorable. The rhyming story is cute and we love finding and pointing at all of the other "characters" like birds, ladybugs, teddy bears, books, princesses and fun parts of the drawings. A great book, and I'm picky about kids books!

Wheels on the Bus: A Rhetorical Analysis
The Wheels on the Bus, an iconic children's road song perhaps rivaled in popularity only by its less sober cousin, 100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, has been immortalized in music, film, print, and the collective unconscious of English speakers everywhere. While its provenance is unclear, we can assume that this populist hymn is as old as public transportation itself. Paul O. Zelinsky's ...

Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio
This was an excellent book that very accurately described what children experienced when they contracted polio in the 1940's and 1950's. It was well written to be read quickly by an older child or by an adult to any child or just for their own education. Peg Kehret's memories will help as a base in any discussion of polio; what happens, how it was treated and in some cases overcome, and what ...
