Confronting The Controversies: A Christian Looks At the tough Issues
Abingdon Press, 2004
Christians are faced every day with daunting choices between difficult alternatives. "What does my Christian faith have to say about the moral issues that divide our society?" There are plenty of people on opposite sides of the spectrum claiming to know the will of God in these matters. It is nonetheless very difficult to find help in looking at both sides of these ethical questions, and applying the biblical witness to arrive at an ...

Facing Up To the Issues--From a True Christian Perspective, One of Love, Care and Grace
Truly great study of the issues facing today's society and a Christian, a true Christian, response to those issues. This book is not, repeat IS NOT, for those Christians who claim to have and to know all the answers, those who are quick to judge and condemn, but slow to understand or accept the concept Jeus preached most--grace. This book is for the caring, concerned Christian trying to ...

Don't be Fooled
I bought the book to learn the tactics of this spirit to avoid them but I still fell prey. Don't be fooled by this demon. It is real and very cunning. Please pay attention to the signs written about and confront the Jezebel spirit. This book was head on and made me even notice some things of myself as well. It also showed me how to not recreate that in my children. Also make sure that you ...
Tearing Down the Gates: Confronting the Class Divide in American Education

It's about time! Read this.
It's sometimes easwier to talk about race rather than class--but this is a subject that's been unresolved since the very beginnings of American public education--and long before that. It's even part of the testing and NCLB debate. The author tackles it in ways that are original, personal and sociologically fascinating. A very good read.

great book
The condition of the book was just as they described it. I am pleased with the condition, and the book is really interesting. It's not the easiest thing to read, however, if you have recently experienced death in your life. The thanatology snapshots are great, but you might want to keep some tissues handy.

So very needed
Christians today have veered so far from holiness, but like the frog in the hot water, we are not even aware of it. This book wakes us up and calls us to a life pleasing to God. I believe it is a must read for every true believer. Katie Kool

Excellent Business Book!
Confronting Reality" is a gold-mine of perspective on how to get an organization properly focused - starting by confronting reality. It belongs on the bookshelf of every manager with bottom-line responsibility. Bossidy begins by stating that any plan for a business has to answer three questions: 1)What's the nature of the game we're in? 2)Where is it going? 3)How do we make money in it? ...

Finally a book for the other person in the relationship
It hasn't been until recently that pornography has been accepted as a real addiction. Pornography addiction in some ways is much more shameful than alcohol and drug addition, and reliable resources for this type of addiction are still limited. This is the first book that I have read that really places the emphasis on the partner who is impacted by their spouse's behavior. This book covers ...

Facing The Dragon, The Best Book on The Great Self Within
When you take a look around at this latest rising wave of darkness in our world, there are few voices speaking with clarity about the fundamental psychological and spiritual sources of that darkness, and, what can realistically be done on both an individual and global scale about it. Many are talking naively or in terms of divisiveness out of their own grandiosity. Robert Moore's new book, Facing ...

The truth hurts.
Very well written observation from one who has experienced white privilege firsthand. For all the negative reviews, I would say that the truth hurts them to admit that everything he says in the book is accurate. Blacks have always known about white privilege. I think the negative reviews are here because someone had the audacity to expose the fact that there IS white privilege. Always has ...

Incredibly well researched
This is a really important national study of health disparities in the US - mainly health disparities between African Americans and Caucasians (but other ethnic groups are occasionally mentioned). It shows that African Americans experience higher rates of certain medical conditions than other ethnic groups (e.g. diabetes), but also identifies clinical and practical barriers and forms of ...

RBT has created another indispensable tool for educators
I loved reading this book for all it taught me and for all the important things it reminded me of. . . . Arguing passionately and convincingly that supervisors must have competence, conviction, and control, the authors provide the information and the tools supervisors need to help teachers mired in mediocrity, that sometimes discouragingly long stretch of the continuum between the incompetent ...

Forget the guide books! Take this instead!
This book was on the short list of texts my German language/culture study abroad course required. As far as the architectural culture went, this book was all you needed to taste the essence of the capital. It was better than any guide book out there, especially relating the tulmultuous past with what you were seeing with your own eyes as an urban landscape. Berlin is complex, historically and ...

This award-winning book ("The Best Book in Global Environmental Affairs" according to the International Studies Association) offers an accessible and engaging analysis of the 800 pound gorilla in the living room that environmentalists find difficult to talk about with force: overconsumption. The scourge of pornography. Even well-meaning Latter-day Saints can be trapped in its snare, lured by curiosity and the pervading influence of the media. "Continued exposure leads to addiction that is almost impossible to break," warns President Gordon B. Hinckley. "Men, so very many, find they cannot leave it alone. Their energies and their interests are consumed in their dead=end pursuit of this raw and sleazy fare." The common lament of ...
