THE book for the Fire Service.
This should be required reading for anyone in the fire service who deals with Structural fire fighting. The book is pretty straight forward and in an easy to read font. I love this book. It also has a pretty decent index if you're using it for school. Out of all the books I've had to buy for school so far, this is the best one. If you're a fan of Brunacini, you may find a few points where ...

College book, messages for everyone
I was required to read this book for one of my graduate classes and enjoyed the format and topics. The variety of authors and perspectives is interesting, and even though it talks down to the read in some of the section introductions, the overrall message becomes clear: the systems in place that support racism and bigotry are large and well supported, but you can still do something starting with ...

Excellent Reference Book
I have many years of architectural drafting experience. Although this book says "Basic Skills" on the cover, it is much more than basic. It's an excellent reference book, covering everything that is needed for interior design drafting: from line weights to scale, dimensioning, plans, elevations, sections, checklists, furniture and finish schedules, contract documents, and the list goes on. I ...

An important work on how people come to know
The book begins with the defining statement of its thesis (page 1): "The basic contentions of the argument of this book are implicit in its title, namely, that reality is socially constructed. . . ." The essence of this: our understanding of what is "real" is something that comes from our living in a social world. That social world is a major part of defining what "reality" is. The book is ...

Theory Construction
As a beginning researcher in medicine, I was quite surprised to find that medicine is considered an atheoretical science. Perhaps I missed a few classes along the way, but as a family physician, I thought I understood theory and theory development. That was until I really started thinking about it. After asking several researchers, mentors, and general queries to other physicians about ...

Good on scheduleing, not good on planning
The technical treatment of schedule development was very thorough - from development, precedence diagrams, durations, resource allocation, and money and earned value. The short interval and linear schedules, which are not coverd by most books, provided an additional real world perspective. Although computer scheduling was covered, the focus remained on the therory and method that drives these ...

Thorough knowledge for Interior construction and details
This book should be on the shelves of every interior designer- it's so thorough that it's a little cumbersome at first. It should be used as a reference book, it gives chapter-by-chapter explanations on the specifics for the construction and application of windows, casegoods, partitions, etc. If there is ever any doubt in a designers mind as to how exactly something is constructed or works ...

A good introductory overview - but a little weak on real world applications
This book uniquely covered the traditional construction management subjects of estimating, scheduling, control, then added preconstruction activities and project delivery methods, followed by construction law and safety. These subject, which are integrated together in the work world, are usally found in 3-4 different books. Some additional depth, such as adding order of magnitude estimating, ...

Great Book
great book while you're taking the author's(zaniewski) materials class at west virginia university. but WHOA does he ever grade hard! he seems like a very nice guy, but is very demanding... be prepared to work the hardest in this class like you have no other. i wish he would ease off a bit, but that's his option. anyways, great book and the class at wvu follows it exactly.

This book was alright. Some illustrations, decent descriptions. Some of the problems were too in depth. It would be alright for some just starting out in construction or someone who just wants to learn a little about it.
