Scepticism and optimism combined
First a word about me: I'm one of those cancer patients who doctors either love or hate. I read up on everything, and I am openminded about the benefits and risks of both conventional and alternative cancer therapies. I question everything and want to understand where the limits of our current understanding lie. I want references! If you are anything like me, you'll appreciate the ...

Excellent first year text
We used this text book for my first class in electronics this last year. I was surprised at how much I was understanding. This text has a very excellent recipe for instruction. The opening page of each chapter gives a list of objectives and then each objective is identified as it is addressed within the chapter. Diagrams, definitions, origins of formulas, examples, self-check answers, ...

A very good read for any business
This is a very good example of how business can change for the better. Vineet Nayar became the CEO of HCLT in 2005 and took the company to the top of its field. How? By asking the hard questions and actually listening to the answers he got. He made the changes that needed to be made and stayed a part of the solution, start to finish. The most important aspect of his book is that he recognized the ...

Cat, Kids and Authors
A new Claire Malloy mystery is a reason to celebrate. A Conventional Corpse is an excellent addition to the series. The backdrop of a convention attended a group of eccentric authors is perfect for murder. The characters are delightful and well written. The teenagers add spice. The frightfully spoiled cat was a hoot. Joan Hess always entertains but I think her plot twists in this book were ...

The best I've ever seen
This textbook is far and away the best I've ever seen on the subject. I wholeheartedly agree with the previous review, and would like to add a few comments of my own. This book, as a stand-alone text, is outstanding. If you combine this book, the lab project manual(sold separately-around $70), and invest around $50 in a Multisim software program(10.1 is the newest version right now), you've ...

For those who say "sociology is just common sense"!..Think
I have read more than half the book. This book brings out the what society preaches in public and what public practices in private. Its a basic and higly accesible version for a wonderful subject. In some chapters the authors "deviates" and just shows the supportive arguments for his thoughts....but doesn't provide "critical"/"balanced" view..(he does so in that chapter on gender).

A Must Read
The Quinn's exacting research in the world of "cancer" has increased my knowledge base 10 fold of the treatment options available. The real gem was this couple's soulful exploration of the issues surrounding being a "cancer patient" including being a self-advocate, family dissent in treatment decisions, the business of medicine, and COURAGE. I recommend it to healthcare practitioners, patients, ...

Music's favorite renegade does it again
If you ever met Susan McCalry, you'd find it hard to believe that this petite, soft-spoken, witty woman could inspire such ardent hatred from scores of musicologists. Moreover, the sociological and feminist concepts that she brings to bear on Western art music are already old hat in literary and art criticism. But musicology is, to a large extent, still in denial about Modernism, so ...

This book struck exactly the right chord for the hepatitis C sufferer who is feeling overwhelmed but wants scientifically rigorous information in a form that he or she can use. It is full of clear, factual answers to the question every hep C positive person has, with the scientific bases explained well but in a nonintimidating way. This book has consistently provided me with great information...an excellent starting point before contacting your doctor or for an illness you just want tot understand better. It seems to be stronger in the alternative medicine category than ...

Boy, let me tell you, this is an awesome book if you're just learning. I got my used copy for 1 cent and it ended up being like 4 bucks total (including shipping.) It's a great book with not of a lot of complicated math to bogg your intuition of ...
