The Eleventh Hour: A Curious Mystery63 reviews
Graeme Base

Harry N. Abrams, 1989

My Favorite Children's Book
If the world were keeping track it would know that my wife has probably set some kind of record for reading to children (our five kids). Rarely do I get a turn to read but whenever I do, I often choose this book. The kids (and most reviewers) are captivated by the amazing artwork while I am more impressed with the sophisticated rhyming. Call me simple but I love good rhyming. At the risk of ...

The Curious Case of the Misplaced Modifier: How to Solve the Mysteries of Weak Writing11 reviews
Bonnie Trenga

Writers Digest Books, 2008

Easy and Simple to Understand
Bonnie Trenga has outddone herself with "The Curious Case of the Misplaced Modifier. I have read many books on grammer, punctuations, and writing. Most I don't finish; putting it down after the second chapter. Ms. Trenga kept me entertained from page one until the end. Someone has finally written a book for those of us that aren't an English Major. It was simple and pointed out the most made ...

Curious Creatures - Wondrous Waifs24 reviews
Ed Kostro

PublishAmerica, 2003

Book goes straight to the heart!
Readers of all ages are going to adore Kostro's animal memories. His tales are often humorous, but also heart breaking. I was very entertained with his childhood fascination of picking on his older sister, since this is a theme that showed up in another of his books. I suspect the author is a bit mischievous? Ed Kostro's apparent harmony with nature and creatures will charm any animal lover! ...

Classic Feynman: All the Adventures of a Curious Character9 reviews
Richard P. Feynman

W. W. Norton, 2005

If you like Feynman, you will like the CD very much!
The stories in the book are the same as those in the well known Surely you're joking and What do you care what other people think. I had read those (plus James Gleick's 'Genius'), but still liked this book very much because of the accompanying CD. Play the CD first, then read the stories again - that really made the stories come to live for me!

The Journey That Saved Curious George : The True Wartime Escape of Margret and H.A. Rey13 reviews
Louise Borden

HMH Books, 2005

Very interesting!
A fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at how Curious George came to be. I think Margret and H.A. Rey would be pleased with the way this lovely book was written and illustrated.

Seize the Daylight: The Curious and Contentious Story of Daylight Saving Time10 reviews
David Prerau

Thunder's Mouth Press, 2006

A Detailed Review of an Interesting Subject
I never realized that Daylight Saving Time (DST) had such a controversial and turbulent history. I believe that the author has done an excellent job in detailing DST's evolution, often in excruciating detail, right up to the current, yet still fluctuating, situation. The writing is clear and engaging making the book very easy to read. The book also contains many caricatures that were published ...

Florida's Living Beaches: A Guide for the Curious Beachcomber29 reviews
Witherington; Dawn and Blair

Pineapple Press (FL), 2007

Excellent companion book
I bought this book for a friend who was going to Florida but after I read through it I knew I had to have one for myself, so I actually purchased two of these books. It is so informative and everything is divided into separate sections making it very easy to read. Florida tourism should have this book available at their welcome center, it's that informative! For information about what's on a ...

Kid's review
I liked this book a lot. Curious George books are great. He is always getting into trouble and it keeps you reading. I still haven't watched the movie yet but the books make me want to. Curious George's ABCs8 reviews
H. A. Rey

HMH Books, 1998

My kids like this book
All of my kids (ages 2-5) like this book. It helps them learn the alphabet and the illustrations are fun. It also helps my younger kids learn various new words. The other thing I like about this book is that there isn't much text, but the book is nonetheless very interactive because kids get to call out the letters and the things associated with those letters.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time8 reviews
Mark Haddon

Red Fox, 2004

Life through different lenses
Why spend a few good evenings re-discovering life through the eyes of an autistic boy? The answer to that lies in this intriguing novel. While most fifteen-year-olds spend their time playing basketball or crunching popcorn at the movies, Christopher Boone - our protagonist - prefers cracking difficult maths puzzles and investigating the death of his neighbour's poodle. The latter event eventually ...

Happiness Is.: Unexpected Answers to Practical Questions in Curious Times9 reviews
Shawn Shea

HCI, 2004

A very serious topic discussed in an entertaining package...
When the author of "Happiness Is." contacted me by e-mail and asked if I would be interested in reading and reviewing his latest book, I felt that I should warn him in advance regarding my views of traditional and contemporary psychiatry, some of which are posted on my website under the heading "The Psychiatric Game." So, to be fair and upfront with Dr. Shawn Christopher Shea, the author of the ...

Fantastic!
The Curious Savage is fantastic and will be a great read, I had the privilege to see a wonderful performance of this play and it is now one of my favorites, My mother's friend played Fairy May who though I liked all the characters she was one of my favorites and had some of the best lines. I actually went to see this play with little excitement thinking I would be bored but I definitely was ...

Shadow: The Curious Morgan Horse (Morgan Horse Series)9 reviews
Ellen F. Feld

Willow Bend Publishing, 2006

Blue Ribbon Winner!
I remember the days when my daughter at a very early age would pretend that a Eucalptus tree branch was her horse that she called "lightning". So many country girls seem to be horse crazy where I live, a small town where the pace is slower and you just want to stop and drink in the sounds. It is a privilege to introduce you to a delightful children's picture book called "Shadow" by Ellen F. ...

Curious George Goes Camping8 reviews
Margret Rey; pictures by H. A. Rey

scholastic Inc, 2000

All kids love all the silly monkey's antics...
While on Summer vacation, my nephew was acting up a little bit so I decided to distract him by reading a book. I had my Kindle with me and knew he liked monkeys so I crossed my fingers and got lucky - found some Curious George books. Score! He loved the book and the story of the silly monkey getting into trouble (and saving the day, of course!). All the kids had a great time with the story and ...
