A Book for Every Parent
John Gottman is a professor of psychology at the University of Washington, a Rabbi, author of the excellent book, "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work," and also an entertaining speaker. My wife and I attended one of his talks on successful marriages. He's the Jerry Seinfeld of the clinical psychologist-Rabbi set. Against that backdrop, it wasn't difficult for my wife to get me ...

New World Order
Estulin goes all out tracking the Bilderberg Group for 15 years. What he has to say is backed up factually. His book was published before we learned that at the Bilderberg meeting in Va. June 7-8, 2008, Barack Obama's running mate was picked. Did he choose the man they wanted? Only time will tell. The Bilderbergs have created Lehman Brothers sale and their march on banks create the housing ...

A Whole New Mind
An overwhelming wake up call for the "go to school, get good grades, get a good paying job" thinkers. I want to give this book to my kids especially my youngest who is interested in getting her MBA. The new staple for a changing educational and economical future. If you don't read this book, you are limiting yourself.

One of my very favorite cookbooks
I'm now a fan of the America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Illustrated Magazine, and it was this book that did it! I'm the type of person that likes to know *why* to do things a certain way, and not just read a set of instructions and this cookbook is just so full of great information on how and why to cook things they way they are instructing, along with various illustrated tidbits all the way ...

A penetrating look at the new Russia
Daniel Silva has become my favorite author in the thriller genera, and MOSCOW RULES is another winner. Silva tosses Gabriel Allon into the boiling caldron of current world events--this time Putin's Russia. Allon must counter a sinister al-Qaeda plot to kill thousands of Westerners. but first, al-Qaeda must obtain a quantity of SA-18 missiles. The source of the shoulder launched Russian ...

Excellent informative read!
I really loved this book because unlike many books related to this subject it has not been too watered down. It is accessible but still contains loads of information. Somehow Levitin has managed to fit an 800 hundred page draft into a 200 page book! I will continue to refer to this book for a long time to come.

Read This Before Reading Robert's Rules (in full)
This slim volume is a great alternative if you're just starting out in parliamentary procedure, without having to thumb through the whole of Robert's Rules. I found it useful and informative, and it gives you a great general idea of how exactly meetings and organizations should be run. Reading the whole of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised would be a great undertaking and it's great that the ...

One of the best mental health books I've read.
I've read many mental health books. This one has been my favorite and most helpful, along with Dr. David Burns "Feeling Good" in a close second. Dr. Amen's work is a fresh change from the standard, "take a pill and you'll feel better" approach taken by so many healthcare professionals. I've always been torn on the medication debate, but this book very much opened my mind to all therapy ...

Thank you Ishmael
This book changed my life. Like a fish swimming in the ocean who takes water for granted, we can't help but take our own culture for granted. It has become invisible to us, because we live in it. This book will make it so you can see it again. Once you start to see it, you won't be able to make it become invisible again. If you've ever wondered how things got this bad, you should read this ...

Best Cookbook EVER!
I own probably over 100 cookbooks but this is the one that I reach for time after time. It has great classic, easy to follow recipes. I have not been let down with one recipe yet! I've recently made the classic white cake with white icing and have received RAVE reviews on it! One of the best features that I like about it is I feel like I learn more about cooking or baking when I open this ...

Strongly recommend this book
I got this book after seeing Dr. Amen on PBS - the book is very good. He does a great job with the diagnosis of each type of ADD. My son, who is 12, has alwasy been distracted more so than hyper but very oppostional - to find out that there are different "types" or ways ADD manifests with different people was refreshing - you understand more why one medicine works better for some kids better ...

"Intelligent and Hilarious!" in scare quotes!
I'm a fourth year Ph.D. student in philosophy and I bought this book to see whether any of it was worth using in an Introduction to Philosophy course. But none of it is worth using for that purpose. The philosophical content in this book is just not up to par. It is so bad, it does every topic that it covers a grave injustice, being at best utterly superficial. The kick in the junk is that it ...

Music is often better than words
As the drum, drum, drumming in the air grew louder the usual pregame roar in Ball One Ballpark in Phoenix softened and attention swung to a pre-game show by the Bashas' Bears High School drumline. They are good. The driving pulse of a drumline, like the beat of a powwow drum circle, is captivating, dynamic, addictive and hypnotic. Music and its rhythms enchant and entrap our souls, and this ...

One of the most insightful "leadership" books out there...
I had read Daniel Goleman's book years ago... and his premise is more relevant now, and continues to be one of the most insightful "leadership" books on the market. How is this so? There are a lot of "management" books but true leadership books are few and far between. Those that truly know the difference between "leadership" and "management" know what I mean. A true leader uses all of ...

This book is truly deserving of the Pulitzer Prize and inclusion in the Oxford History Of the United States series.I was a bit apprehensive when picking up this massive book and deciding whether to purchase. Magic Bites is Great!!
Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, Book 1) This debut book is an excellent beginning for this author. I just hope that she can write these books at light speed! I really enjoyed the fatasy world overseen by a council, wracked by waves of technolgy and magic and one that has its own version of magicians, vampires, werewolves and other creatures. I like her almost as much as Jim Butcher. They are both ...
