Excellent account of post-liberation challenges
I purchased this book at the Bergen Belsen Memorial (sorry Amazon) at the end of my visit there between the USA's first two games at the 2006 World Cup. My father (who is still living) was a US Army medic in World War II. A few days after the British Army liberated Bergen Belsen his company of medics (29th Div. 104th Med Bttn, Co. A) was assigned to Bergen Belsen and remained there for a day or ...

A great book, and a fine addition to a great series
The magic tree house is back, and with it is Morgan le Fay. She has a quest for Jack and Annie, they must solve a strange riddle. And so, the two youngsters are off to a tropical island, where they learn about the sea and its aquatic life. This book is the ninth in Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House series, and the first in a four-part mini-series. This is a fun book, richly illustrated, and ...

Burfoot Delivers Again
Burfoot's "The Runner's Guide to the Meaning of Life" is so simple yet so thorough. It's such a quick read, but the depth and variety of each short, powerful chapter is incredible. I literally could not put it down. I particularly connected with the chapter on traditions (the need for anchors in this fast-paced world). Amby talks about the draw of Manchester and it's annual Thanksgiving day Road ...

Encouraging and Inspiring
This is a wonderfully inspiring book documenting Henri's journey from Ivy League professor to the priest of a community of people with severe disabilities. His story reminds us that the crux of the Christian life is not flashiness and worldly success, but that it comes from being a servant to the needy and poor of our world. As Henri shares his fears, anxieties, and triumphs of his journey, we ...

Enjoyable story about post-nuclear war world
Originally released in 1952 under the name "Star Man's Son" this story is set in a post-atomic war future. While that may seem cliche, at the time it was quite original. The story focuses on Fors, who lives in a remote mountain village. As the story opens, Fors is passed over for the postion of "Star Man" - a man who goes out into the wilderness in search of ancient technology for the village. ...

At the moment, my favorite Nietzsche
Well, Nietzsche is one of those dudes you don't just read and then put away--no, you have a relationship with Fred your whole life. You go through ups where you think he's a brilliant... sage, you go through downs where you think he's a brilliant... child. Etcetera--thinking that he's brilliant is about the only constancy in the experience of returning to his writings again and again. You ...

Brilliant, inspiring, hilarious!
Treasure Coast resident and cancer warrior Connie Titus has written a little volume that might as well have washed ashore like sunken treasure spit out by hurricane-churned seas. This literary doubloon is solid gold, smooth and polished, not by centuries of lying on the ocean floor, but by 10+ years of cancer-fighting push and pull. Like the ocean Connie visits for healing and renewal, the book ...

A GREAT BOOK! ...
I personally like Belva Plain's writing a lot, ...The story was very touching, and Belva Plain expressed the emotions very well of waht others would do in that situation finding out that one of your children isn't your 'biological' child after all. She wrote with feeling through the whole book, and the ending was very well done with all the characters. An excellent read if you ask me!

Seven men at Daybreak
if you enjoyed the film "Operation Daybreak" then treat yourself to the book that inspired the film. Alan Burgess manages to create vivid images of both the characters involved, and the haunting Nazi attrocities commited in city of Prague itself. The book centres on the assasination of Hitlers SS deputy, Reinhard Heydrich in Prague 1942, by a group of Czech paratroopers trained by British ...

A Beautiful Work
"The girl with the flaxen hair. Beautiful she was, everyone said. Temperamental and strong-willed, too. And in the next breath they mentioned her hair, long and blond. Everyone noticed her hair." - Walking Since Daybreak Perhaps one can imagine what life was like during World War II. Perhaps one can imagine the horrors faced by many people during this time. A must have for every parent
This book was laugh out loud funny. Amy is incredibly witty. She finds humor in ordinary family life. After I read this book I realized that my family is actually "normal". I read this book in one night. Once you start reading you will not be able to put it down. After reading this book I felt a sense of relief from the frustrations of the toddler years. Buy it!
