A classic gay coming-of-age novel for all ages
"Rainbow Boys" is a novel that excels at character development, telling its story through the eyes of three gay teens--Jason, Kyle and Nelson. All three are coming of age in their senior year of high school and coping with their sexual orientation in very different ways, ranging from open and defiant to closeted and in denial. Their stories intertwine, and each has not just high school to ...

A heartwarming story
My sons and I learned about this book while visiting a friend in the midwest. I ordered it as soon as we returned home. It is a heartwarming story. I especially love it and have used the story for saying good bye at preschool and when I have to travel for business. I think it would also be a cute gift for anyone nervous about embarking on a new adventure, young or old. Get it! This book ...

A testament to a young slave's tenacity in hard times
Though the Dear America series of books [written in diary form] are works of historical fiction, the times they are set in are very real, and the way the series is written enables readers to gain insights into the lives of the young protagonists. In "A Picture of Freedom", 12-year-old Clotee is a slave who lives on the Belmont Plantation in 1859 Virginia. She may be a slave with no personal ...

This was an amazing book
It was so sad that in the end i cried. I know what its like to loose someone close to my heart and it made i easier to relate to this book. The book kept me wanting to know what would happen to April and Mark. It showed me that it's just as hard fo other people to go through hard times.

AWESOME BOOK!
Anne Frank and Me was an exceptional book and I enjoyed it very much. I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't love following Nicole through her journey starting in the 90's and ending up in year of 1942. I've read it twice and I know I'll set it down for a few months, then read it again! I recommend this to anyone with a heart! Enjoy Anne Frank and Me. Stephanie A. Tustin, CA

My childhood
I grew up with these books but had not read them in a while. They were just as I remembered them as a kid. But I liked the new cartoon artwork on the covers, especially of Killer the "rabbit?" It was a journey back in time.

help with the grieving process
On June l9, 2008 we euthanized 3 canine friends we had had for many years. Why all together? Two of the dogs were mother and son--the mother in advanced senility and other health issues and her son was completely paralyzed with hip displasia. Louie, the youngest, was dying with cancer. They came together as rescues and were close friends for many years. Thank you, Christine Davis, for this ...

I guess I'm a tree-hugger
Okay, so this is probably as preachy as Dr. Suess gets, and it just might get on the nerves of some people, but the tree hugger in me salutes him for it, even as he paints a grimmer picture of environmental destruction than Al Gore ever thought of. Even so, it's clearly Suess with his imaginative worlds and funny characters. It's a solemn book of warning that it pretty darn good into ...

Enchanting and Realistic
Enchanting It's hard to explain what makes this book so charming: The writing, the way the children and their relationships with each other are shown so clearly and believably, the very real adventures they have, the sense of place....but listing those traits doesn't do the book justice. It's also really funny in places! Ransome creates a world that is clearer and lighter and more enchanting ...

Beautiful Book - Good for any age
This would make a great present for any age. If we all followed the advice in this book, the world would be a much better place. So simple, yet so complex at the same time. We loved it, and I will read it to my children once a week so they remember always.

Eric Carle does it again!
Our 20 month old and 3 year old boys love this Eric Carle gem. It combines beautiful pictures of animals with simple rhythmic text showing body parts and actions -- turning heads, bending necks, raising shoulders, arching backs and others. Best of all, it allows active participation by imitating what is on the page. We have purchased quite a few books but this one is magic.
