This book changed my life
What she says in this book works. That all I'm saying. It has worked for me personally, and has worked for two other people that I know, helping them feel better just by doing the mega-doses of Omega 3. You don't have to buy all the expensive vitamins that she sells in her propietary doses. You can approximate them and buy them much cheaper elsewhere.

Ground Breaking Research; Vital Information
This is a book that can be life changing. It's extremely solid, clearly written, for the lay person, and fully documented, and it concerns Dr. Stoll's claims as to the benefits of taking Omega-3 oil supplements. It was recommended to me by a Nurse Practitioner at the Hospital Clinic where I go for regular medical care, and it has caused a revolution in my life. We live in a wilderness of self ...

Great follow-up to "Idle"
After reading "How to be Idle" in the summer of 2007 and finding out that Hodgkinson had a new release in late 2007, I quickly reserved a copy at my bookstore. As much as I loved "How to be Idle", I enjoyed this one even more. Once again, Hodgkinson's insights prove very insightful and thought provoking. This is not a book that I will read only once.

Helps teens take an active role in beating depression
This book combines compassion and empowerment with accurate information. The author, a cousin of singer Curt Cobain, wrote this book to help make sense of her cousin's suicide. It is readable, knowledgeable and thorough. It helps adolescents understand what they might be feeling when they are depressed. It discusses how to interrupt the downward spiral and find a way out. The book covers both ...

The original version of this book gave me my life back. Depression gone, cravings gone, crazy thoughts gone, self-loathing gone, PMS gone. All through the simplicity of eating the right foods for my body. I gave up sugar without shedding a tear, something I thought I would never be able to do, and I don't miss it at all. This edition has all the newest, updated info that Kathleen and the ...

Truer today than it was 40 years ago
We all understand that particular industries and markets may go through hard times at one point or another. But what causes an entire economy to flourish, only to contract at a later date? What causes the entire economy to misread the economic signs? What causes the entire economy to misforecast and make bad investments? What causes a "Cluster of Errors"? It is hard to believe that anyone ...

More medical than mental
I don't review books that I don't like. This one was a bit too medical for my taste (I discovered that I generally crave a psychological take on depression) but it is a book everyone who feels depressed, or ill, should have as a reference. As a result of reading the book I started taking vitamins every day and felt instantly much better. I noticed that I have been concentrating on depression so ...

Life saver
I wish I'd stumbled across this book years ago! I knew I had a problem with sugar that was unlike other people, but no one really believes in sugar addiction or sugar sensitivity, so I received no help, or even empathy, elsewhere. Some weight loss gurus suggest there is a link to "emotional eating," and urge people to get help with that, but that is an entirely different matter than having a ...

Very helpful and action-oriented
I am quite grateful for this book, which actually helped me organize my thoughts, get them down on paper, and turn them into a plan for action for working on my depression. The book's focus on taking action was really the key for me, as I imagine it could be for other people experiencing depression. For many years, I was mired in thoughts of my depression and loneliness and felt completely stuck. ...

I believe this is cutting edge material. When people have been frozen in outdated paradigms left over from their early years, the material in this book and workbook will help them redecide in their own behalf how to take control of their unhealthy thoughts that do not work for them anymore and replace them with thoughts that bring lives into fruition. The tools and strategies used can take a ...

Eating, Drinking, Overthinking
The author calls the cycle the Toxic Triangle. Many women spend all week carefully keeping themselves in check. They work hard at their jobs all day making sure that they don't say or do the wrong thing. After work, they continue to control their actions by only choosing healthy food in just the right quantities and abstaining from alcohol. By Thursday or Friday, however, the frustration, ...

Half Empty Heart
For most of my relationship with my significant other, I have struggled with his lack of ability to include me in his life. There were many times that he would be very open and honest with me while in the next instance he would withdraw and cage himself in some other place. After finding the review of "Half Empty Heart" in a magazine, I felt as if the author had been following my boyfriend ...

Did you know that antidepressant dose reduction and discontinuation can cause severe and debilitating withdrawal reactions? While 10% of the US population are taking antidepressants, most people, including most doctors, have never heard of antidepressant addiction and withdrawal. Glenmullen does a fine job getting the word out about this urgent health crisis. In 2004 Congress had to force the ...
