PERFECT!
This book was in perfect condition when I received it and the really cool thing about it is that its WATERPROOF which means you can read it pretty much anywhere-in the shower, underwater, at the beach or even in a fish tank! The book gives you scary insight on how we are destroying our earth and killing ourselves slowly and simultaneously!!!

Bullseye!
Garr Ryenolds has hit the target, right smack in the center, on identifying the misuse of software such as PowerPoint in presentations. Reynolds takes us on an enjoyable, enlightening journey of identifying and avoiding "really bad PowerPoint" presentations, replacing them with really good ones! The author knows how to motivate the reader to strive for excellence in presentations, and provides ...

Absorbing historical read
Couldn't put the book down once I started reading it. Loved the characters, loved the building of the Cathedral and I particularly liked how Follet brought the rediscovery of ancient Greek texts such as Euclid into the story. So many things I liked about the book. Sure there was plenty of sex and violence, the story was set in the 12th century after all. Plus I assume we're all adults here so I ...

Wonderfully written and fascinating true story
This story, about a single person who made it possible to build dozens of schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan for both boys and girls, provides a view into the people and culture of these two countries that is just so hard for Americans to get. If there is a better way for Americans to make the case for freedom, tolerance, and equality, peace, i certainly don't know what it could be.

AMAZING--not about slides, about mind to mind communication
I just destroyed this book with folded pages and ink annotations, so the perfectionists out there may want to order two copies, one for eating and one for sharing. The price is phenomenally reasonable, especially for something that is all color and totally elegant. This is not about powerpoint slides. If anything, it is a very subtle but explicit critique of how retarded they still are (e.g. ...

Couldn't put it down!
I was shocked when I logged on to Amazon and saw so many snarky, bitter reviews; I expected this book to have a solid five star rating. I do a lot of reading and it not every day that I find a book so engrossing, so honest, so profound, and so funny that I clear my schedule in order to plow through it. To all those mean-spirited reviewers, my question is: if you hated the book so much, why did ...

Great book to learn Dreamweaver CS3
This book makes Dreamweaver very clear, and when I have a question, it is always answered in the next sentence. It is so clear and easy to understand. It has a cd in the back with excercises in it for every chapter. Then the illustion in the chapter will show you how it is supposed to look....just like a text book!! Very well written and easy to follow. I have computer experience but not ...

Fresh approach to curriculum design
I've used this book for three years in my graduate Curriculum Design courses for teachers. My students are practicing teachers who have seen dozens of lesson planning approaches and don't need some new theory just for the fun of it. But Wiggins and McTighe present a fresh perspective that doesn't so much replace as reposition traditional approaches. It boils down to what they call backward ...

Great great book
This book is so good, my weak attempt at a review is not going to do it justice. But I'll try. I knew before I was half-way through that this is going to be a favorite and I plan to re-read it immediately. The writing is so fresh, the character studies so sharp, and the satire so relevant in today's increasingly bureaucratic (corporate) society, no wonder it was so hard for me to find a used ...

Big Help
Started using Illustrator about two months ago and got lost from time to time and had to spend hours trying to unravel my mistakes. A solid book for type - with a twinge of humor
I like this book a great deal. The next time I have a chance to use this in a class (to teach) I will. There are lots of good examples, the language is clear, and it's not too ethereal or esoteric. I think it's a great introduction to typography and laid out very well.

Finally Someone Has Documented the Link between Wilson's "Progressive" Ideas and Fascism
First of all, allow me to say that I have purchased and read this book -- something I believe few, if any, of the negative reviewers have done. This is an important work, tracing the intellectual development of the idea that the all-powerful people's State should always trump the individual and be in firm control of all aspects of the population's culture, education, defense or military ...

Great for the non-designer
I read some of the other reviews in preparing to write this. I am definitely a non-designer but have found a need to learn some design principles. I thought the book was great for its intended audience and probably for more experienced people as well. I have already applied the design principles in my work, web site development, and I re-did my letterhead based on what I learned here. Is it ...
