Magic Tree House Boxed Set, Books 1-4: Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Knight at Dawn, Mummies in the Morning, and ...93 reviews
Mary Pope Osborne

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2001

great for the imagination
I bought the set as a gift for my nephew, whom is in second grade. Hoping to spark his interest in reading. The Magic Tree House books were the first books that grabbed my own sons interested when he began reading. He would devour a book in a couple of days and couldn't wait to began a new one. His imagination would grow as he traveled along with Jack and Annie on one fictional adventure ...

How to Be a Friend: A Guide to Making Friends and Keeping Them (Dino Life Guides for Families)18 reviews
Laurie Krasny Brown

Little, Brown Young Readers, 2001

Great to discuss with 5 to 9 year olds
This book has been great for an initial read to discuss with my children what a friend is. It continues to be a great reference tool for situations that come up. We pull out the book and read it with our children to remind them what a friend is and how a friend should treat them.

How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?122 reviews
Jane Yolen

Blue Sky Press, 2000

Look closely, most of the dinosaurs have pets!
This is my toddler's favorite of the series. It is the usual whimsical style with beautifully detailed illustrations. We just discovered after many readings that there is a pet on most pages. My toddler loves to look for the dinosaurs' pets as we turn the pages. A refreshing bedtime story.

Jurassic Park645 reviews
Michael Crichton

Ballantine Books, 1991

A Dark, Exciting, and Engaging Techno-Thriller!
I saw the film JURASSIC PARK and loved it (who didn't?). Steven Spielberg had once again proved his genious. Later, I decided to read the book by Michael Crichton. I loved it just as much, if not more, than the film. It was my first Crichton book, and I was very impressed by his talent of weaving science and probability in his mile-a-minute plot lines. The movie plot closely followed that of ...

How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms?21 reviews
Jane Yolen

Blue Sky Press, 2004

Lives up to the standard set by the bigger books
The full-size "How Do Dinosaurs..." books (Eat Their Food, Go To Bed, Get Well Soon, Go To School) are wonderful and fun, and this book follows in that mold. The story doesn't seem much shorter than in the bigger books, and has the same great rhyming cadence even though the words are more than the usual one-syllable words. It is fun for parents to read as well as children! The ...

Encyclopedia Prehistorica Dinosaurs: The Definitive Pop-Up147 reviews

Candlewick, 2005

Great Book
Bought this book for my 5 year old granddaughter who is really into Dinosaurs. She was thrilled with it. Since opening it, she wants to look at it every day. It's been 2 weeks now and she is still enjoying it. At first glance, you may not notice all the "small pockets" on each page which also pop-up to reveal even more 3D pictures. Overall, a great purchase and I would highly recommend ...

How Do Dinosaurs Go To School? (How Do Dinosaurs...)17 reviews
Jane Yolen

The Blue Sky Press, 2007

My son's favorite!
My son loves this series. We got them when he was 2 and he isn't a big dinosaur fan, but he loves to read them every night. He likes Goodnight & Eat Their Food better because he's not in school yet, but he loves them all. I like them too. His other fave is the David books, and I get tired of reading those, but I still enjoy reading these. I love that these books teach him what not to do.

Read it again
My six year old son loved the book. It helps children understand better what divorce is about and what to expect. A must for children going through this.

Big Box of Boynton: Barnyard Dance! Pajama Time! Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs!30 reviews
Sandra Boynton

Workman Publishing Company, 2005

So cute!
These books are so cute! The Barnyard Dance has a really fun rhythm just like square dancing, and the DInosaurs one is about opposites. They are so cute. My 12 month old isn't super into the pictures, but I know it won't be long and he'll love the rhythmic sound of the story. the Barnyard Dance is a big hit among a few of my friend's kids.

Roger Priddy

Priddy Books, 2004

My 3-year-son started to get interested in dinosaur a few months ago. I bought this book for him so that he can see there are many kinds of dinosaurs, and we have a lot of fun looking at these pictures together.

Big Book of Dinosaurs22 reviews
DK Publishing

DK CHILDREN, 1994

My son really liked it
I bought this book for my 4 year old... he collects every book we find about dinosaurs. He loved it. He takes it with him everywhere and it is the front book in his Dino-library. It is a bit thin, but the pictures are great and have really inspired him. I highly recomend it.

Antarktos Rising - A Novel49 reviews
Jeremy Robinson

Breakneck Books, 2007

Explosive, Spine Tingling Adventure
Jeremy Robinson has done it again with his new, explosive action/adventure novel that will keep you turning pages well into the night. Antarktos Rising plunges the modern world into the savage, ancient earth of eons past. Through a series of cataclysmic events, the continent of Antarctica is transformed into an apparent paradise while most of the inhabited earth is destroyed through a massive ...

Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs! (Boynton on Board)31 reviews
Sandra Boynton

Workman Publishing Company, 1993

Not your every-day opposites book
This is probably the most clever and entertaining opposites book I've come across so far. Like most of Boynton's work, this book is filled with cute illustrations in her classic fun style. The rhymes are great and have that fun-to-recite quality found in most of her books. If you're drawn to this book because your young child loves dinosaurs, don't pass it up! This is a great story for ...

Legend: An Event Group Thriller (Event Group Thrillers)11 reviews
David Lynn Golemon

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2008

Fantastic!
What a great second effort from this author. This was an exciting story from start to finish and personally I thought it was better than the frist book Goleman wrote. I am anxiously awaiting the third installment of the Event Group. Very good characters and great story lines. Sometimes these kinds of books get formulaic, but so far Goleman has avoided that pitfall. Way to go!

Danny and the Dinosaur28 reviews

HarperTrophy, 1992

My 2-year-old niece's current favorite book
My two-year-old niece insists that her mother and grandmother read this book to her several times a day. When I went to visit, I saw this book and immediately remembered enjoying it as a kid. Our neighbor read it to me to comfort me one day when I was upset because my dad had locked his keys in his car, we were locked out of the house, and I was upset because I had stepped in a puddle and my ...

Jane Yolen

The Blue Sky Press, 2005

Great
I love these books. Everyone of the books in the series have met mine and my child's expectations. Of course being a boy he loves the dinosaurs and as I the mom, I love the values, manners and morals they teach.

As good as the other "How Do Dinosaurs..." books
My three year old likes all these books. They aren't too dull to read either for the parent.

Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why It Matters31 reviews
Donald R. Prothero

Columbia University Press, 2007

Will this book prove effective?
A society driving an eminent scientist to produce a book such as this is in need of some serious reflective thinking. Prothero's account is not the first such investigation of the clash of science and superstition, but it ranks as one of the most thorough and revealing. Although this is a work of science, it is also a campaign manifesto. The author is eager to expose the fallacies of ...
