Superb Sequel
The first book was one of a kind...until the second came along and finished the story. Dinotopia: The World Beneath is a must have for anyone who has read the first book. There are new adventures, amazing new discoveries, plenty of exciting action and a satisfying conclusion to everything. The illustrations are just as spectacular as they were the first time and the story does not dilute itself ...

A journey deeper into Dinotopia
Journey to Chandara is, in my opinion, the best Dinotopia book written so far. It maintains the journalistic feeling of the first two books (A Land Apart From Time and World Beneath) while exploring new territory and characters. We travel to new cities, such as Bilgewater (built entirely out of ships), the nomadic Jorotongo, Thermana (mentioned, but not visited before), and the extremely exotic ...

What you need from this book is an "oasis".
Compared to other books in the series, this one doesn't stand up. When finished, you're left wanting more. This time around, dinosaur involvement is almost none. In my opinion, the transition that one of the characters has from being jovial too, well, not when put in the crisis of being lost in the desert should not have happend; it would've made the time of them being lost more interesting. ...

This book is awsome! I've read it over 5 times and never get tired of it! With the amazing Thunder Falls and great description, it makes you want to be there! And the friendship between Joseph and Fleetfeet is really awsome, this book is a must-read.

Cool Book
I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read. And it talked about the other animals that live on the island. I hope to read more of them like this one.

A notch or two above the original Dinotopia books.
A few of the reviewers below slam "Dinotopia Lost" by Alan Dean Foster because they claim that the language is too difficult for children. But in doing so, they forget to look at its merits as, simply, a book. This is an excellent novel that I, a college junior at time of writing, have read and reread numerous times. I personally feel that Foster managed to develop the characters of the ...

realistic alternative history
This book has a lot about dinosaur names and how the dinosaurs lived, even the plants they eat. There are a lot of pictures that can help you to learn to recognize them. It is all very well drawn. But it has a different perspective because they think of time differently, not as 1 o'clock but as when to do certain things, such as times to harvest. It is very good realistic fiction because ...

Alan Dean Foster adds marvelously to the world of Dinotopia
It was a great book and I have only one complaint: I really, really wish it had a map at the beginning showing all of Dinotopia and including all the place names mentioned in the story. I loved the story itself though and Alan Dean Foster's unique ability to describe fictional settings and people is what makes this book great. An awesome addition to the world of Dinotopia.

interesting book, interesting characters
The characters in this book were fun to read about, and the plot itself was interesting. Older readers might enjoy this as a nice quick read, as I did. Younger readers will love this well-written and nicely paced adventure.

Troodon Trek
Even though this book is short, it is filled with action for a person of any age to read. In the story it also gives the story of the sea monster, the Kraken. I like the creativity of Scott Ciencin's books on Dinotopia, as well as the Dinoverse series. At first you thik that the Unrivaled are going to invade, but later you find out that they are the most peaceful race on Dinotopia. ...

Diving with dinos
Another fine Dinotopia story. This time we are treated to an undersea adventure complete with intelligent plesiosaurs. Gurney's world of people living with dinosaurs gets better with each telling. My son loves these books, although he is starting to read at a higher level and has expanded to include the books of the Dinosaur Wars series. These are adventures with a harder edge than Dinotopia, but ...
