Excellent How-To for longer rides
This is an excellent reference for long distance riding. Following the information in this book a beginning rider can ride a century, the cyclists' marathon, with no difficulties and few surprises. A good way to start getting involved with long distance riding. Not good for those who want to do time trials or other fast racing.

Better than expected, a legitimate approach
I'm a professional paranoid, so I was pretty suspicious that the book would be some get rich quick scheme. It isn't. This is a very sound book that make a pretty convencing demonstration that one can take solid academic credentials and some teaching experience and work at home. The authors are well experienced in the field and made comments regarding online tools that I also share about the ...

Terrific!
If you're married and facing your first deployment, you should definitely read Separated by Duty and keep it on your shelf for reference. Shellie offers help and guidance with a warm and understanding tone. She's also compiled a thorough resource list of books and websites. Though I've been a military wife for 18 years, my husband and I still consulted one of the checklists in this book before he ...

Attention women runners (and nonrunners)!
This book is great for getting you off the couch and out into the running world! The author includes her own personal stories of her running adventures and makes you feel like you can do anything. And best of all, it's written by a woman for women: young and old, fat and skinny, runners and non-runners alike. I started with the beginning running program and I can already run 5 minutes at a time! ...

Plain, clear and exhaustive
I found this book very useful, it allowed me to set up a full Moodle site and course for my training company within less than a week. Clear, easy to read, with good structure, and exhaustive - in terms that it allows one to install and setup moodle, shows multiple possibilities of creating courses and lessons, as well as good examples. Everything is written in a language just one level above a ...

A truly great love story
First I will say that I really loved this book. I read it in one day because I could not put it down. It was such a touching love story and I cried a lot while reading this book. I was impressed with this one because I find that most of Nicholas Sparks' novels seem to almost follow a pattern and can sometimes be predictable. But this one surprised me by how good it was and how well it kept ...

From a Distance "Shines"
What can I say that would convince you that this is a book well worth your time to read? From the moment you start with the first word, you're drawn into the life of Elizabeth Westbrook, Daniel Ranslett and Josiah. The opening scene snags your attention and from there...you'll forget that time is ticking by. Through the course of this book, Elizabeth is working towards a goal and a future. To ...

Very helpful and informative, a good reference manual.
I am a Cross Country Coach for Lakeshore Middle School in Stevensville, MI and am building a program. I found the "Training for Young Distance Runners" book to be very helpful. I bought a copy for my MIL!
The other reviewers do a wonderful job of summerizing why this is such a amazing book. I've been reading homeschooling books for awhile now (homeschooling my 4yr old daughter) and this is by far my favorite. How much did I like it... well I bought a copy and had it sent to my mother in law (someone who would never dream of homeschooling and isn't quite sure why I think it's the best idea for her ...

Awe inspiring
This is one of the best books I've read. It's an incredible story of a girl who was inspired to do something painful and difficult -- both to test herself and for the thrill and love of the cold water. It's very well written and hard to put down. I have recommended this book to friends and family members who swim, as well as other people who enjoy reading about accomplished women. I found myself ...

A Must Read for Distance Learning Professionals
This is quite simply one the best books on distance learning that I have read. Palloff and Pratt provide a well researched investigation into developing communities online. The first part of the book goes to great length in defining distance learning and community. The authors provide both empirical and anecdotal evidence to support their claim that community building online is critical to ...

Excellent homeschooling fear-tamer
We ordered this book when it became obvious that in our area, homeschooling wasn't just the best choice; it was (for us) the ONLY choice. "The First Year of Homeschooling Your Child" covered a great deal, mostly from the advice-to-parents angle (as opposed to covering curriculum/testing requirements). We learned about the emotional/logistical hurdles we would be likely to face, and how to clear ...

Going the distance
I've been in a long distance relationship with a wonderful man for three years now. It came more easily to me than it did to him, as my father was in the military and constant moving made long distance connections with friends and relatives seem normal to me. It wasn't as smooth a situation for him, as he still lived in the very city where he had been born and never had to deal with absences that ...

Highly Recommended!
Kimball Fisher and Mareen Duncan Fisher document the special skills needed for the new but increasingly common task of managing far-flung work groups. The Fishers emphasize the interpersonal and ...
