Fundamentals of Engineering Thermodynamics2 reviews
Michael J. Moran, Howard N. Shapiro

Wiley, 2007

Great book
This is a very good text book, it is well written and keeps it short and sweet. It gets to the point. One great feature is that it boxes in derivations that are not nessacary to understand, this way you don't get bogged down in a lot of text. There are tons of examples in the book and no mistakes that I could find. You really can read and understand everything from the text, you don't really need ...

PHP 6 and MySQL 5 for Dynamic Web Sites: Visual QuickPro Guide132 reviews
Larry Ullman

Peachpit Press, 2007

This Book Worked for me!
Although I have some background with programming (Basic, Pascal, COBAL) and desktop db business applications, I had been somewhat intimidated by the idea of server-side programming. I can only tell you that I did in fact take this book one chapter at a time, sometimes re-reading some sections several times, and marking-up certain parts with a hi-liter and a red pen. I followed the tutorials, ...

Emotional Blackmail: When the People in Your Life Use Fear, Obligation, and Guilt to Manipulate You68 reviews
Susan Forward, Donna Frazier

Harper Paperbacks, 1998

For those in need, I highly recommend this book!
I myself am currently in the FOG that she describes in this and it has hit home very well and helping me redeem myself. She's VERY good at explaining and assisting. Sometimes I feel she's right there. Very informative about the different types of emotional blackmailers. I'm not done reading, but have gotten 3/4 of the way and I am so happy I bought this book. It caught my eye one day browsing ...

Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics22 reviews
Bruce R. Munson, Donald F. Young, ...

Wiley, 2005

A foundation book for the subject
In my search for books on engineering and physics, I must say this book is great for those of us garage-gadgeteers that need a little mathematical direction for design. The book is absolutely loaded with picture illustrations that depict the physics/fluid mechanics formulas in discussion. It's hard for someone to grasp concepts when all you have to look at is a bunch of numbers, graphs or ...

Complete Guide to High Dynamic Range Digital Photography (A Lark Photography Book)12 reviews
Ferrell McCollough

Lark Books, 2008

Seeing More
High Dynamic Range (HDR) Photography presents an opportunity to capture pictures that look more like the real world. Even though this book is not perfect, the subject is important enough for serious photographers to take the time to read the book and experiment with the technique. Because the range of light that the human eye can see is far greater than what cameras can photograph, it's not ...

Fundamentals of Heat and Mass Transfer21 reviews
Frank P. Incropera, David P. DeWitt, ...

Wiley, 2006

The book is so good you can teach yourself
This textbook is one of the best I've ever used. Incropera and DeWitt do a great job of explaining convection, conduction, and radiation. I have heard that the mass transfer portion of the book is lacking however, I am an ME major so its not an issue. The covering of conduction is especially good, it goes into great detail math wise although its well presented so you don't have to be a ...

Carole Maggio Facercise: The Dynamic Muscle-Toning Program for Renewed Vitality and a More Youthful ...174 reviews
Carole Maggio

Perigee Trade, 2002

Facercises really work
I'm commenting on the facercise program (the exercises) and not necessarily the book. I did purchase it but didn't have the patience to read it (that's just me). I highly recommend purchasing the dvds instead. The visual demo vs. written explanation is much better to follow in my opinion. I make time to facercise once a day, virtually every day, and I must say, my face looks great. Better, ...

I had to get this book for class, but I still enjoyed it

Characters, Emotion & Viewpoint: Techniques and Exercises for Crafting Dynamic Characters and Effective ...15 reviews
Nancy Kress

Writers Digest Books, 2005

Build Great Characters
Just as the title of the book says, "Characters, Emotion & Viewpoint," every book has them, and many of them. This book explains exactly how to create various characters, the different emotions that they may convey throughout your story, and the different viewpoints that may be utilized to make your writing more effective. This is a "must have" for anyone thinking of writing fiction, as are all ...

Engineering Mechanics: Dynamics and Student Study Pack with FBD Package (11th Edition)4 reviews
Russell C Hibbeler

Prentice Hall, 2006

Better than the required text book
I just received this book now(half way through the semester). I am impressed with it. I got sick of using the book required for the class and started looking for alternatives. Where the required book has a few 1/4 page example problems, this book has 2-4 full page examples per section and about 3-4 sections per chapter. It explains things logically and is fairly easy to understand. It also ...

Linked: How Everything Is Connected to Everything Else and What It Means92 reviews
Albert-Laszlo Barabasi

Plume, 2003

Quite good approach to understand networks.
Before reading this book, I didn't know that Networks theories are with us since serveral decades. I'm almost finishing it, but I couldn't wait to write something about the book; specially to recommend you to buy it! Barabasi work is really great. His redaction skills are as good that people without mathematics or science knowledge can understand and deeply learn Networks theory.

Engineering Mechanics - Statics and Dynamics (11th Edition)16 reviews
Russell C Hibbeler

Prentice Hall, 2006

Good Statics and Dynamics Book
Although I never took either class, I would rate this a relatively good statics and dynamics book. This is not the type of book where you can "skim" through pages and learn the topics. It might be a tough read, but I still give it a high rating.

Fluid Mechanics with Student CD (McGraw-Hill Series in Mechanical Engineering)5 reviews
Frank M. White

McGraw-Hill Science/Engineering/Math, 2006

Excellent Book
This book is one of the most stimulating books on fluid mechanics that I have come across. It is very carefully written and well organized. The physics behind the phenomena are vividly explained. The subject is, mathematically not difficul. Excellent problems at the end of each chapter.

Introduction to Heat Transfer7 reviews
Frank P. Incropera, David P. DeWitt, ...

Wiley, 2006

Great Book
I don't usually write reviews of books that I have purchased but I felt that I had to for this one. Does a great job in explaining the concepts and doesn't leave you lost as it moves through the chapters. It is written clearly and very easy to follow. The answers(not the worked out solutions) are avaliable on the company's website. (....)

Dynamic Art Projects for Children: Includes Step-By-Step Instructions and Photographs19 reviews
Denise M. Logan

Crystal Productions, 2005

Fabulous
LOVE the illustrations. This book is vibrant with color. I am most impressed with the fact that they included work from children. However, as a first grade teacher, I will only be able teach a few lessons. The projects are intricate and would probably require more than one session. Nonetheless, I'm still very happy with this purchase.

Engineering Mechanics: Dynamics (Engineering Mechanics)2 reviews
J. L. Meriam, L. G. Kraige

Wiley, 2006

OK book
This book explains the concepts very carefully. However, it jumps topic to topic without a smooth trancision. Examples are very elementary, but the problems at the end of each chapter gets tedious quickly. Prefer if the hard problems are approached with more examples. Biggest down fall I see is that there are no answers at the back for any problems.
