Excellent book for the price.
I have owned this book for 15 years and I think it is an excellent reference book for jewellers and metal smiths. It covers all types of metal work including gold and silversmithing, jewellery, stone setting and enamelling using traditional techniques. Written by Herbert Maryon O.B.E., who was one of London's best gold and silversmiths.

Enameling
The book is useful for a broad spectrum of initial enameling skills. While it doesn't delve into minute detail, enameling is a hands-on learning and application art. So I found the directions and and steps useful for my needs. I will take care of the details.

The only thing better than this book is Linda in person!
I've owned this book since it was first published and learned much about the art from its pages. Last week I had the good fortune to take a week-long workshop with the author at the Revere Academy in San Francisco. We used the book as text and reference throughout a fantastic week of exploration. In person, Linda is every bit as informative and enthusiastic as her fine book would lead one to ...

Fun and Informative
This book was a pleasant surprise. I expected the dry recitation of facts and adequate photography of the average collector's book, but that's not what I got. The narrative is fun, with much of the primary author's personality shining through, and the photography is lovely. The book is beautifully designed. Literary quotes about jewelry and a sense of a personal connection with the authors ...

This author knows enameling inside and out
I met Lilyan Bachrach at an Enameling Society conference about 3 years ago, and know that she is one of modern enameling's biggest supporters, as well as being a wonderful enamelist in her own right. I was delighted to add this new book to my personal library and to also put it into the reference library at the Columbus (Ohio) Cultural Arts Center where I teach enameling. One of the things I ...

Beautiful display of Tiffany's work
This book is a wonderful display of Tiffany's "smaller" works -- not only of jewelry (which is the primary focus), but also other objets d'art. It also provides a very informative history of Tiffany's life and his creative aspirations. I enjoyed reading the book as much as I did looking at the great pictures. There are so many books out there on Tiffany, but if jewelry is your passion ...
