Excellent Resource
Krause's new edition is a great way to learn and reference food & nutrition therapy. This is a comprehensive, easy to read, but thorough piece of literature essential for all nutrition experts in the medical field. Without this book, finishing my collegiate studies and becoming a well-rounded professional would be impossible. With this book, the medical world becomes understandable and clearly ...

Nutrition and Diagnosis Related Care - Excellent Reading
I reviewed this book and found it to be an up-to-date, clinically relevant nutritional resource that should be on every dietitian's and physician's bookshelf. It contains a plethora of information on several clinical conditions of a nutritional nature, definitions/background of the condition, interventions available both traditional and in complementary medicine, and information on ...

In this first chronicle of Brother Cadfael, the medieval monk and amateur sleuth, Peters takes us along as the Benedictine brothers travel to a small Welsh village in order to claim the relics of a neglected saint as their own. But when the community's most outspoken opponent of the relocation is murdered, Cadfael sets out to discover the killer and ends up becoming involved in the miracles ...

Sad, but true!
Just finished this book after recently getting into Hank's music. Colin Escott nails it, a wonderful work that explores the tragedy that was Hank Williams. I remember growing up in the late 20th century northern America, whenever I heard the term "country music", I always pictured some tall, lanky "hillbilly" that spoke and sang with a twang - the stereotype, or so I thought. Hank Williams ...

Country Music Fans will love it
Subtitled: The Making of an American Icon The story of how the Grand Ole Opry started and how it remains a vital part of country music today is told by music legends, both current and past. Interviews, notes and letters from legends of today, as well as those who live on only in the hearts of country music fans, are used to bring us little known facts and details about the Opry. Minnie ...

Groovy, down-to-earth look at early country history
Biographical essays of well-known as well as fairly obscure musicians and industry types. Escott has made a career out of telling outrageous, sometimes salacious, tales -- he gets to the rawer, visceral side of the story pretty quickly, which is relatively easy when you're talking to folks who worked in the scraggly, scruffy early years of country, rock and blues. He's an engaging, ...

Lincoln Viewed Accurately
Paul Escott's book is history presented without editorializing. It is refreshing to read of Lincoln's thoughts regarding the problems that he faced at the beginning of the war and during the war. I am sure that most Americans do not know about the "first" 13th Amendment, one that Lincoln readily endorsed. Lincoln's status is not diminished one bit when the reader realizes that it was Lincoln ...

I used this textbook as a junior in high school and recently purchased a later edition. Although the wonderful charts plotting the states and electoral numbers of the Presidential elections are long gone it is still a great reference book on our nations history.
Slavery Remembered: A Record of Twentieth-Century Slave Narratives

The University of North Carolina Press

This is the first major attempt to analyze the slave narratives in the Federal Writers' Project. Escott read nearly 2,400 narratives to establish 81 categories of information for computer analysis. Tables presenting this data are set within a well-organized text that includes many quotations. Slavery remembered is an important contribution to the study of American slavery and, because of its brevity and clarity, an ideal classroom text for ...

Great!
Well, this is definitely one of the more humerous Millhone mysteries! Against the opposite end of the more angsty tone, it's quite pleasing to read something that clearly was fun to write. Here, Kinsey finally takes a job for her landlord Henry, a simple task of investigating old army records. But since Sue Grafton is writing this, nothing stays tame. It's a roadtrip/plane ride adventure ...

A concise history
Both as a Black American and a new resident (from the North) of this most intriguing southern state, I was curious about African American history in North Carolina. This is a well written, concise yet thorough account of the Black Experience in North Carolina. As such, this book is more of an "entry-level" account of the historical aspects of Black life in the Tar Heel state. In this regard, ...
