Best book I've read in a long time
If the events in this book weren't so well documented I would have accused the author of making them up to increase the drama. I haven't been so engaged in a story in a long time. An amazing story, extremely well excuted by the author.

textbooks can be good
I really wasn't looking forward to yet another psychology text, but this one is actually enjoyable. The author has managed to pare down each study to the essentials and doesn't waste a ton of space trying to entertain the reader. I would recommend it for anyone interested in how the mind works, and the information that has made our understanding greater.
Helping Skills: Facilitating Exploration, Insight, and Action

Great for Experiential Learning
This book leads the reader through a three stage model of helping: exploration, insight, and action. This book is incredibly well-balance between Rogerian, psychodynamic, and CBT skill sets. If you just pick up the book and read it may seem like it is simplistic; however, the high quality of the book is that it gives the readers several activities to practice the skills in the book. Things that ...

Undaunted Courage
I will keep it simple. Next to the Holy Bible ~ best book I ever read. I have since then read several of Stephen Ambrose's books and highly recommend them. He and his family put many years of research in before writing any book. I have travelled across the country all the way to Cape Disapportment as a result of reading the book and following the trail. Everything Mr. Ambrose claimed in the ...

Inspiring and Enlightening
Dr. Kaku presents another outstanding book to expand our minds to endless possibilities. Why limit ourselves when we need, more than ever, to think out of the box, and ask the big "what if" questions. In my own writing, vis-i-vis, The Ninth Cube, I have tried to answer these questions, alot of them inspired from the work of Dr. Kaku. I throughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone. ...

A Trip Down Memory Lane
My son has been raving about Bill Bryson's for some time now, but I was not sure that they would appeal to me. After hearing others rave about his memoir: The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid, I thought this might be a fun audio book. I am sorry I waited so long to try Bryson's work. This memoir was terrific. It leaves you with a feeling of appreciation for the simple things in life. Bill ...

Wonderful Workbook
This was a textbook assigned for an online psychology course. This was one of the best "self-help" books I have ever read. This book is easy to read, plus each chapter has a section for activities pertaining to the topics covered. I learned a lot about myself from this book. I recommend doing the activities and answering the questions from each chapter to get the most out of this book. Authors ...

A fun way to learn America's "true" origin
The "truth" about America's origins is uncovered in interesting storytelling fashion. At times it reads like page turner. It might broaden a reader's viewpoint but it will make "little difference", because "...Myths didn't just trump fact; they helped create it." If you have played (or know about) rounders and tried to explain it's connection to baseball to almost any baseball fan you know the ...

I finished Wild quickly.
and for me - Jon Krakauer's writing is the kind of stuff that makes for late nights and tired workdays. I can't pay him a higher compliment. This one was a bit different than his other efforts in that Krakuer plays more the role of detective/sociologist rather than an an insightful expedition biographer. However, the story was as rivetting and perhaps even more powerful. I'm anxiously awaiting ...

Well written
I obviously bought this book for the CCNA class that I am taking. As textbooks go, this book is very well written and makes the understanding easier as you go through the class (as opposed to trying to do my reading online through the cisco academy). Highly recommend buying the book if you are taking the class.

A Great Read.
This is no more "fantasy" than the "accepted" version of events! It was a great read, especially compared to official (probably made-up)Eurocentric boring accounts. If Menzies can get people passionate about ancient history then who cares just WHO went where and when? It's a good read.

Great introduction to petroleum geology
I am a graduate geologist and I found this book ideal in my circumstances as an introduction before I got some petroleum work experience. It is very well written ,even a layperson could get a good appreciation for the wide encompassing subject matter. It is not aimed at specialists or those with a lot of experience in the petroleum geoscience. However, it is one of the best text books I have read.

The Reality of Christian Fellowship
This is a great little book, a classic that all Christians should read. At roughly 128 pages, this is a short treatise on Christian community that is very accessible. In the first chapter of this book Bonhoeffer presents his understanding of the reality of Christian community. Bonhoeffer's basic claim is that Christian community is a reality, both in the mundane realm and in the spiritual ...

Written by Kottak, recent inductee to The National Academy of Sciences, this text continues to offer a holistic, four-field perspective introduction to anthropology. Another distinctive feature, "Understanding Ourselves," illustrates the relevance of ...

Menzies Tops His First Book
Menzies returns to face his critics with a sequel better than the original. He builds on is first book by uncovering the history of contacts between China and Europe. Most of this, to some extent, are known facts. But now Menzies solidifies where Europe found maps of the New World and that Chinese contacts were, up to this point, an unconsidered factor in the Renaissance. One of his strongest ...
