What's a matter with you. Not having a knowledge of the US Constitution????
Get this. It's thorough. I read it many times over. It keeps things in perspective of where we should be as a nation. Sigh! Tom

Good Book for finding out little-known material
The title of Lacey's new book might well be "Everything you ever wanted to know about Tennessee, but couldn't find elsewhere." Crammed full of interesting and little-known facts about the Volunteer State, the book is sure to be a hit with trivia buffs. Everything is in here, from historic information about the 1877 rainstorm of snakes in Memphis to current listings of the state's best fishing ...

It had me mesmerized!
Gallop!, by Rufus Butler Seder, is a fun little piece that will have young children moving around as they show off their agility and physically respond to questions like "Can you gallop like a horse?" or "Can you flutter like a butterfly?" There's not much of a plot here, but that's not the point. It's the lyrical rhyming of the text, the colorful lettering of the print, and most of all, the ...

After reading this beautifully compiled book of strange and unusual mystic experiences, the world was not the same for me. Jennifer Spees weaves together a scary, yet poignant fabric of unbelievably true stories, threaded with supernatural, paranormal, and just plain spooky undertones. This is a must have for anyone who has experienced the unbelievable, who has an interest in the paranormal, or ...

Down-to-earth medical advice from a genius!
This is a wonderful book on nutrition and little known facts about health that you will not find anywhere else. I work in the healthcare profession, and know that most doctors do not know a quarter of what Dr Pezzi knows about these topics. His writing style is very entertaining as well as intelligent. Although he probably is at the genius level of intelligence himself, he conveys advice at the ...

Leagues above most activity books
I am so glad to discover this book is still available. It's far more comprehensive and intelligent than so many other activity books. Laid out clearly, with activities in various realms of knowledge that offer numerous variations so a parent could conceivably use this one book throughout a child's school years. I can't imagine a child not discovering the joys of science (broadly defined) ...
The Last Log of the Titanic

McGraw Hill Text, 2002
A CRACKING GOOD READ
I first read this book in 2000 and found it to be one of the more plausible explanations of the damage suffered by TITANIC when she hit the berg, as well as what happened afterward. Captain Brown has brought what is so lacking in many TITANIC books into LAST LOG OF THE TITANIC--actual shiphandling experience. Captain Brown had also produced an eminently readable text, one which I think most ...

Interesting and Captivating
I have three of Garrison's books: The Amazing Civil War, Civil War Curiosities, and More Civil War Curiosities. I would recommend each and every book to anyone! The facts that Garrison writes about are both interesting and captivating and being a high school American History teacher, I plan on using the facts that I have found no where else to captivate my students and give them a perspective ...

easy to read; would appeal to me or to a baseball fanatic
50 interviews with people with ALL SORTS of careers at a ballpark--players, clubhouse workers, mascot, landscaping, announcer, ballpark vendors (food, beer, etc.). My favorite interviews were the ballpark architect, the umpire, the shortstop who goes to art galleries when he travels around the US, and the "from Connecticut" ticket hustler. I like that I can read one interview at a time or ...

A Cook's Tour of a few dozen of the most sensational crimes in American history
If you are close to or north of 50 years old you likely grew up leafing through the copies of Life and Look magazine that your parents subscribed to. They were large format magazines that relied more on pictures than text to make their points, but the text was still of good to high quality. Their vast library of photographs have been mined for several very nice books and special commemorative ...

Informative, useful, and fun
I'm surprised that no one has reviewed this book, since it's very useful and entertaining, easy to read, and inexpensive. There's one page for each day of the year. On one side of each page are facts about that day (famous birthdays, events). At the top of the page is a quote from Benjamin Franklin on some principle (saving money, etc.) with some illustrative biographical information from ...

A neglected subject, fascinating treatment.
This is a fascinating and well written account of one of the best known, yet little understood, archaeological mysteries of the century. The discovery of the first-century grave under the present basilica of St Peter's is a detective story which is usually given a confessional treatment, if it is noted at all. Walsh does a brilliant job of untangling the threads of the excavation, without ...

Truly a fascinating read
The author's anthropological training and perspective, in conjunction with his keen wit and understanding of the human condition, enable him to relate insights about people and places that are both entertaining as well as extremely educational. Wonderful and moving!
I love this book. Sylvia did such a wonderful job of showing what it's like to see the world through a dog's eyes. As a dog lover myself, this story of 7 dogs' lives had me experiencing both the joy and pain that dogs experience in our "people world." It was moving, I will never look at a dog the same way again. I recommend this book to all animal lovers everywhere, you'll thorougly enjoy it!

I picked up this book on whim, having never heard Dr. Schwarcz's radio program or seen him on television. Discussed here is the science behind ice cream, aspartame, wheat, bagels, paprika, beer and yes, cookies. Schwarcz also chimes in on the controversies over dental fillings, ...

Inovative quilts from traditional block patterns
I love this book. It is a must for any quilter's library. There are many examples of stunning inovative quilts made from traditional patterns. There are also some less traditional art quilts, but the majority are traditional with a punch. I borrowed this book from my library and now I am buying it because I don't want to return it to the library!
