Pleasant to read and extremely practical.
I am an entry level software developer who has only been in the industry for a little over a year. While I was in college, I was always provided with very clean code bases to work with or analyze. I was in for a huge surprise when I entered the real world. The code I deal with every day at work is an extremely ugly mess. We have no automated tests. We are basically operating at CMMI level 0. ...

Birding and the responsibility for habitat preservation
Scott Weidensaul, a natural born naturalist if there ever was one, has written a book that provides both the factual history of birding and the philosophical changes that have occurred in the field. FIrst, he explains the historical interest in birds as food sources and how this evolved into sport, and a fanatical period of decorations for women's hats. He describes early American naturalists, ...

Most Wonder Book for Loss of Mother
A friend told me to read this book shortly after I lost my dear mother to breast cancer. It is full of inspiring, wonderful true stories of women who lost their mothers and had signs of them being near them after passing. The most wonderful thing happened to me after I finished this book a couple of weeks after my mothers funeral. I was going to church every morning at 7 a.m. for mass every ...

Heartfelt story
Woodson, from a child's point of view, paints a poignant picture of an adolescent's personal search for hope, intermingling relationships and experiences of the characters' lives. Frannie's thoughts betray a maturity beyond her age. This novel is a realistic view into the heart of its characters. This beautiful, heartfelt story of hope addresses the needs of the new kid in school, those living on ...

Beautiful little charmer
Another favorite of my 3 1/2 year-old daughter, along with "Top Cat" by the same author. Hmmm...is it possible that Top Cat or his little brother is the cat in "Feathers for Lunch"? That aside, the pictures in this wonderful book allow a child a good first look at several North American birds, and the text introduces your child to their birdsong. All the birds are "drawn" (I believe they are ...

Feathers And Fools
This book is great. I would recommend this book to everyone. In this book the swans and peacocks are enemies. This book is for all ages. The peackocks and swans had a fight, but some swans flew away. If you like great illustrations read Feathers And Fools by Mem Fox. By: Lauren M.

Great
I bought this book thinking it was a read along book. It is just the song on the CD which is hard to follow for a 5 year old reading along. He does love the song and the book is beautiful and fun to look at. He had a fit of the giggles when we tried to turn the pages to keep up with the song, there is just too much to look at on each page to go so fast. We appreciate them seperately.

Clear pictures of Native American life
For anyone wanting to have an insider's view of Native American life read Mick Fedullo's "Light of the Feather". The author tries to clearly explain life within the communities and tries to debunk myths. This book is an excellent overview of why self-determination should continue in the world today. It also provides readers with insights that they otherwise would not have the opportunity to ...

Snow storms force together three unlikely couples in this Historical Christmas Romance anthology
I admit I'm a sucker for a Christmas romance. And these three very enjoyable short stories (~130 pages each) more than satisfied my holiday historical romance craving. There is something magical about a romance when a twist of fate, such as a snowstorm, forces the heroine and heroine into each others company -two people who under normal circumstances would have never met. And results are a ...

Perfect for any woman!
I read Beth Moore's book after experiencing two miscarriages and trying to get pregnant for the third time. Her Godly approach to motherhood made me realize that God gives us children as gifts and blessings - regardless if it is for a few months in utero or for decades on earth! She gives a personalized insight on how to try to raise children to love Christ - in a world that often makes that ...

The most mature and exciting of Ms. Feather's novels
Jane Feather is one of my favourite authors and this was by far her best novel, unparalleled even in comparison to her other novels. I loved Gabrielle de Beaucaire, who was the most inspiring and liberated heroine of all Ms. Feather's books. I found Nathaniel Praed a little stuffy, but the romance between them was sizzling and the adventure was heartstopping! Definitely a novel I will treasure ...

A great Native American version of the Turtle and the Hare
Basically this is the story of the Turtle and the Hare as told by the Native American Choctaw nation. In this version we learn the value of friends and helping one another. As expected Turtle wins this race but there is something very unusual about this particular turtle. A delightful read and well-illustrated When Turtle Grew Feathers is a highly recommended children's book.

Superb!
I absolutely loved this book!!! Fantastic story, page-turner, couldn't put it down and what-have-you. The thought of 'a soul in exchange for a kingdom'...passionate and romantic. Jane's detailed description of the Alhambra...so true. This book got me interested in Ancient Spanish history all over again. Note: Know this is purely fiction but adding Boabdil el chico to the story made it almost ...

Robert Feather Review
For some reason I always have trouble getting a review posted here. I've been trying all Summer to get posted. ...Anyway I will comment on Mister Feather rather than "Copper Scroll". After reading 'Jesus @ Qumran' and 'Copper Scroll', I realized that Robert Feather spends so much time in research that it's hard to believe that he writes so well and speaks to the layman in DSS study in such ...

Chickens ROCK!
I loved this book! It's is fun, dynamic and provides what the brilliantly designed cover offers; a clever look into the life of a unique boy and one special chicken!!! The characters and story line make for the beginning of great lore! If you like the clevernes of the original (not that Disney stuff) Mary Poppins and the hominess of Tom Sawyer, you'll love this book too! I'm soooooo waiting ...

Wonderfully absurd...
I have never written a review before, but as this book is one of the funniest things I've ever stumbled upon... here goes. I was lucky enough to find Without Feathers about 10 years ago, in a hardcover edition along with Getting Even and Side Effects. I decided to take a quick look through it on the drive home from the book store (I was'nt the one driving!) and within minutes I was laughing ...

An Entertaining Second Installment for Cavendish Square
I was looking forward to this second book of the Cavendish Square trilogy and I was not disappointed. The hero's hidden agenda made for an interesting plot development. Alex was revealed as a Russian spy early on, but the reader was kept in the dark as to who he was working for. Livia was a feisty, strong heroine. It was interesting to watch the h/h waltz around compromises when ...

This story is a very funny and sweet book!
This book is a precious story with beautiful pictures. Each page is delightful and very amusing! An absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving story with a twist. I first read it to my children 12 years ago and have searched for a copy for our home for a long time. I have never found it in a bookstore and am thrilled to find it here.
