Proven Guilty (The Dresden Files, Book 8)88 reviews
Jim Butcher

Roc, 2007

In The Magic World Of Humans Misusing Magic Is A Life Ending Choice
I don't want to give away to much about this book but it has Harry on different sides with the White Council(Group of Powerful Magicians who control how humans do magic in the world.) The basic is that in this book because of the war between the white council and the vampire's red council Harry is made a Warden(Basically a Sheriff of the magic world.) and has to uphold the laws of the council ...

Case Files Pediatrics (Lange Case Files)5 reviews

McGraw-Hill Medical, 2006

Excellent light read for Step 2 CK
I started using Case Files halfway through my 3rd year as it was gaining popularity. My shelf grades soared with this light reading. Unfortunately, I had pediatrics before I learned about the Case Files series. So, for Step 2, I needed a good review source. I read this in 2 days and peds was one of my best sections on Step 2. I can't stress enough how the layout of this series lends to a ...

Death Masks (Book Five of The Dresden Files)
There is always something new in this series; it keeps you fascinated. Knights of the Cross, The Shroud of Turin & a duel with a vampire are just some of things involved/happening in "Death Masks."

Case Files Obstetrics and Gynecology (Lange Case Files)13 reviews
Eugene C. Toy, Benton Baker III, ...

McGraw-Hill Medical, 2006

Wonderful for Ob/Gyn shelf
This was the single best resource I used to prepare for the Ob/Gyn shelf. I only wish that I'd started using it sooner. The chapters are short --- there's a clinical vignette on the first page, followed by some "what would you do next" questions and 3-5 pages of explanation for those questions. At the end of each case is a handful of multiple choice questions. I'd recommend doing 3 or 4 cases ...

Case Files: Surgery (Lange Case Files)6 reviews
Eugene C. Toy, Terrence H. Liu, ...

McGraw-Hill Medical, 2006

Excellent
This book is the @#@!@$. I rarely write reviews, but after getting my score back I had to write something about this book. At the beginning of the surg rotation, I started to read NMS Sugery. Nothing stuck. Then a friend told me about case files and I took a gamble. I learned and retained more from this book than any other. Also I thought this book represented AT LEAST 70 % of the questions on ...

Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, Book 4)74 reviews
Jim Butcher

Roc, 2002

Summer Knight (The Dresden Files Book 4)
This book was full of suspense & humorous as well - very hard to put down. This is a modern fantasy for adults with knights, wizards, fairies, trolls, etc.

Case Files Internal Medicine (Lange Case Files)15 reviews
Eugene C. Toy, John T. Patlan, ...

McGraw-Hill Medical, 2006

Excellent Review Book
I think this book is an excellent review of common internal medicine presentations and diseases. One aspect which is particularly helpful is that it outlines the mechanism by which the disease/presentation occurs which helps you to fully understand the disease process. I would recommend it for anyone keen to review this topic and looking to supplement a more detailed text.

Blood Rites (The Dresden Files, Book 6)53 reviews
Jim Butcher

Roc, 2004

Just keeps getting better
Blood Rites is another masterpiece by Jim Butcher. Where Else can you get Flaming Monkey poo, Assasins, Hellfire, Vampire Porn stars, a dash of Fallen angel and Family all tied up into 2 detective cases and a personal grudge. Its great to see characters from the previous books and the tying up of some lose ends.

Dead Beat (The Dresden Files, Book 7)94 reviews
Jim Butcher

Roc, 2006

Worth reading!
These books are great! If you love science fiction you will love these books. The author is funny, witty and holds your interest from cover to cover. I ordered the complete set and read through it in a week! I hope they bring the television series back to SciFi. It is more entertaining a series that SciFi brought back, Dr. Who, or as I call it "the doctor's non habit forming sleep remedy"! ...

File System Forensic Analysis24 reviews
Brian Carrier

Addison-Wesley Professional, 2005

The bible for File System Forensics
Great Book. Great job Brian. A must have in your bookshelf if you are serious about computer forensics. It only lacks two things to be perfect: a reiserfs and a HFS+ sections. Only an error. GPT partition schema isn't used only in big servers. New Intel Macintoshes use it by default for their boot drive.

Instant File-Folder Games for Reading8 reviews
Marilyn Myers Burch

Instructor Books, 2001

My students love these games
Very useful for second language learners. My students want to play one of these games every day. The games take a little while to make, but once done (make sure you laminate them!!) they are a big hit.

Case Files: Neurology (Lange Case Files Series)4 reviews
Eugene C. Toy, Ericka P. Simpson, ...

McGraw-Hill Medical, 2007

Excellent for the shelf
I was very hesitant about using this book for the neurology shelf exam because it is so new (2008). I wondered if it would be foolish to not use something more "tried and true." However, after reading three chapters of Blueprints (which I found to be too simplistic) and not having the energy to trudge through the depths of the Lange neurology book, I decided to take a gamble on Case Files and use ...

Case Files Psychiatry (Lange Case Files)8 reviews
Eugene C. Toy, Debra L. Klamen

McGraw-Hill Medical, 2006

Great Book For Third Year Med!
This is a great read, especially during down time or even as a quick read before bed! The cases are short and give all the necessary 'need to know' info in a concise, organized manner! It really helped when doing write-ups and studying for shelfs!

Small Favor (The Dresden Files, Book 10)113 reviews
Jim Butcher

Roc Hardcover, 2008

More serious, but just as fantastic
So, the Dresden series now having become my very favorite paranormal books, of course I read this as soon as I got the chance (Still well behind the curve, of course -- 'cuz I'm a big rebel, yeah.). It was as excellent and fun to read as the rest. I will say that the feel of it was different. There was much less humor in this one than in several of the others. It seems that, with each book, ...

Case Files Family Medicine (Lange Case Files)2 reviews
Eugene C. Toy, Joe A. Bedford, ...

McGraw-Hill Medical, 2006

Only book I found helpful
I took family medicine in the 5th block of third year, having done everything but surgery already and tried to read other books but found them cumbersome and redundant for what I already knew. I picked up this book in the last week before the NBME and loved it, it filled in a lot of the holes in my knowledge that are only taught in FM and not in the other rotations. The family board is not just ...
