A Course in Miracles
Foundation for Inner Peace, 2008
The Greatest Book Ever Written
The most important book ever given to mankind. A Course in Miracles is the book for this age, the book with the power to take us into the new age. It sat on my bookshelf for 15 years, but I didn't feel drawn to it. Then last year, while in the depths of sorrow, I saw it on the shelf and knew I needed to read it. I committed to giving it my all every day, and in the past year my life has ...

The First Six Weeks of School (Strategies for Teachers Series, )
Northeast Foundation for Children
A Must-Have Book for Teachers
I purchased this book after attending the Responsive Classroom Workshop. It gets used quite a bit. The book really spells out helpful beginning of the year activities for grades K-2 and 3-6. I use it to plan before school starts and then constantly during the first six weeks. This is one of my favorites and I give it to all of my student teachers to help them when they have their own ...
Think and Grow Rich
457 reviews, 2008
READ THIS BOOK!
To all whom may be seeking help through 'self-help' books; you can't read everything and trust me I've read a number of these books. However, if you are going to read one book, make it this one: Think and Grow Rich. The chapters can be read independently, it not only tells you what to do, but how to do it. Now read it...blessings. Leon
Finished this one on the beach
I cannot express enough how much I love, love, love this book. I am, admittedly, a huge Tori fan. Even if you're not, you should still read this book. Like I said in the title, I finished this one on the beach, but I have to tell you it was almost irresistable for me not to finish it before then. I laughed out loud in my beach chair several times throughout. I finished the entire book in about 3 ...
Foundation, by Isaac Asimov
The Foundation series is one of the most renowned arcs in all of science fiction. Spanning several volumes, and thousands of years of time, Asimov provides us with a blueprint for our own decadent, ailing society--a prevention, if you will, against the society of the 21st century, as realized later by men like Stephen Baxter inTitan. In the billion-star inclusive Galactic government, Hari ...

The Mayo Clinic Diet is short and simple - you lose weight by changing your habits and shouldn't start their two-week LOSE IT! plan until you're ready to commit to Adding 5 habits and Breaking 5 habits. Foundation and Empire
Asimov and the Foundation books are awesome
I loved this series... couldnt put it down. I highly recommend these books to anyone who loves sci-fi.
A Discourse Upon the Origin and the Foundation Of The Inequality Among Mankind
Public Domain Books, 2004
In this work / the author does a fine job of presenting a theory on the inequalities of man. It is his first publication and it does seem to show less refinement than later works. This piece is much shorter than Emile but it echoes of it. It is sort of Darwinian / just a century before Darwin. I give this an A minus. It is highly recommended.
A masterpiece of compelling, highly intelligent, hard Sci-Fi
Asimov's breath-taking third installment of the Foundation saga is the best of the original trilogy, and that's far from a small claim. Driven by various searches for the mysterious, fabled Second Foundation, this book invokes a fascinating cast of scientists, dictators, even future novelists all grappling with the predicted fate of the galaxy and it's obscure relationship to the enigmatic ...
Where There Is No Doctor: A Village Health Care Handbook
BTDT, took the book.
This book is well worth the space it takes up in your luggage. As a primary care provider, I shouldn't need this, right? But I am also helpless without the supplies and medicines I was accustomed to having at my fingertips. This amazing book includes how to make emergency formula from milk powder, how much of which electrolytes goes into oral rehydration products, ideas for splinting, and ...

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book 3)
Harry Potter #3 book on CD
This is the 3rd in the series that I have listened to. Jim Dale does an excellent job of reading and interpreting the Harry Potter books. You have a hard time believing all those voices are his!
The Core: Teaching Your Child the Foundations of Classical Education
Leigh A. Bortins
Excellent resource, additional recommendation for those who might want lighter reading
(I apologize in advance for the exceptionally long review. I usually try to make reviews shorter, but there were several things I wanted to say and I hope the information proves helpful to you. Thanks.) As a homeschool mom, author and consultant, I'm frequently called upon to give my opinion of various homeschool related "products" - books, curriculum, DVDs, even activities. My personal ...
The Myth of the Robber Barons: A New Look at the Rise of Big Business in America
Burton W. Folsom
Young America's Foundation
Finally a historian that actually knows history
It's great to read a book about the history of America's great entrepreneurs by an Author who actually has done the research and isn't operating on the "I don't like it so I won't provide evidence that supports it" policy.
Holy Bible: Amplified
The Lockman Foundation, 2008
Very Nice ...
This Kindle version is very similar in layout as the NASB version by Lockman. Easy to navigate the TOC, Links, etc. I really like the Amplified version for it's extra clarification of passages and text. It does takes a little time to get used to, but it's worth it. Recommended.

Teaching Yoga: Essential Foundations and Techniques
North Atlantic Books
A must read for every teacher of yoga, everyone who wishes to be a teacher of yoga, and anyone with a serious interest in yoga.
This masterfully crafted and beautifully designed book is the most comprehensive text written on yoga wince B.K.S. Iyengar's Light on Yoga was published in 1966. It's also practical and resourceful, for beginning and experienced teachers. But unlike Iyengar, the Indian master, Mark Stephens writes as an American yogi steeped in Western culture yet completely absorbed in the wisdom of the East. ...
The Morning Meeting Book (Strategies for Teachers, 1)
Northeast Foundation for Children
Only wish there was a middle/high school version
Doing Morning Meeting is an important part of setting a class culture of caring. I was in a pre-k - 8 school where this basic model was used and saw a huge impact on the way that we dealt with each other and the way that trust was built between students and staff. I recently helped start a school in Baltimore City where this is a key component as we set culture. Where teachers "get it" and use ...
