Another five-star review
Most of what needs to be said about this book has already been said. But I feel a need add my two cents, if only to toss another five stars out there. Really, this one is an example of what a good technical book should be. It's style is both understandable and unpretentious and it covers topics with depth and clarity. The overall organization is such that it never seemed like that terms, ...

Fully functional, basic webstore
This is an exeptionally well written book for the beginning webstore developer with It walks you through a complete design of the side with the end result that you have a basic webstore that you could actually take operational. The only weakness in the credit processing section. It's written for a European credit card gateway. It would be nice if one of the more popular US gateways (e.g. ...

Passionate About Quality?
I don't personally think that all developers will find this book useful. In fact, I have a feeling that some may find it highly useless and disruptive as it is abstract in a sense (one must apply the lessons to each library and scenario independently, taking into consideration many different aspects of usability and readability) and it does require some "retraining" of bad practices which have ...

Read this book.
In Driven, Dr. Frigo and Mr. Litman provide the background to "Return Driven Strategy", which is a strategic framework that underlies the importance of integrating a business strategy, the execution of that strategy, and ultimately how those pieces relate to a company's valuation. Through their detailed research of high performing companies, Frigo and Litman provide example after example of how ...

Real sustainability is about decision making
Sustainability has become the central drama of our time, yet within the sustainability movement there is a huge conflict. It isn't the environmentalists against the dam builders this time--it is between those who see nature mainly as a domain, reserve, or area, and those who see nature as a process. Both sides largely agree that there is a serious ecological crisis, we are on the brink, and that ...

More than you have any right to hope for...
Not a mere antidote to political correctness in jazz criticism; Lost Chords is a prewar cultural history, a lesson in music structure, a history of woodwind instruments, a guide to innovations in guitar tuning, AND MORE. It shows the musicians as human beings with all their failings, humor, drives, hard work, and talent. I especially loved the account of the bass sax --- an instrument that ...

Ignore the 2 and 3 star reviews
I say to ignore those reviews because they do not refer to this book. This is the second edition published August 28, 2007 with 863 pages. Those reviews are based off of the first edition published nearly two years before (September 12, 2005) and with only 447 pages. Using Amazon's 'Search inside this book' takes you to the 2005 edition also. That shows only 10 chapters while this edition ...

Best book for AD & ADAM programmers
This is definitively a must have in the bookshelf of all .NET AD Developers. I have been working with ADAM since .NET 1.1 and have always struggle to find answers to simple questions like how to make an LDAP query to run efficiently or how to define complex queries; this book has that and a lot more.

Great content to match the great presentation!
On first opening this book you are struck by the beautiful full colour pictures and syntax-highlighted code samples. [Though the experience was slightly marred by the tears and damage to the front cover which occurred during shipping, as was also the case with another book in the order.] I did a quick flip through and thought... "Beautiful presentation, but the content looks a bit ...

A Proper Examination and Explanation of Human Action
If you have found most personality tests insignificant, unhelpful, or unrevealing, then perhaps this book is for you. Human Dynamics goes into much more depth and provides a greater understanding of human communication and actions than any simple personality test. While people can be placed into certain "dynamics," these dynamics are not nearly as restraining or stereotypical as personality tests ...

revives torah into once again being life not just learning
rabbi weinberg has a unique ability to take the torah portions and their themes and create a vision of reality. based almost entirely on text he shows how the torah teaches more than just "religious practice" but is infact life. this makes every word of the parshiot ring not only with truth but with life and allows the reader to find themselves therein. gone is the childish reading of "bible ...

A Good Bet for Exam 70-320
This certification study-resource from Author Amit Kalani, served as a rather indispensable part of the revision portfolio for Exam 70-320 (XML Web Services and Server Components with C# .NET ). Simply put, it is a very useful & sound comprehensive reference for Exam 70-320. It served me greatly in gaining both an overview of all the elements that would appear on the 320 exam, but also served ...

Excellent companion piece to Adam Nathan's bible...
If you are doing .NET -> Native interop., this book should pretty have almost all that you need. Note that it does not cover COM (RCW) interop in that much detail and does not talk about CCW (COM -> .NET). However, the coverage of MarshalAs() and the clever examples that show how to deal with the complex DirectX structures are alone worth the price of admission. What I liked best was ...

This very extensive text on customer relationship management leaves nothing unsaid or unexplained. This book is an invaluable comprehensive guide to network design, distributed computing, and overall client/server architecture including security. Takes intermediate developers to the next level
This book is an ideal text for providing intermediate-level web developers with a solid grounding in architectural principles and more advanced techniques. Before going into why I like this book I do want to offer one caveat - the authors' approach is towards the Model-View-Controller paradigm, and is based on Java Standard Tag Library, Jarkata struts and Apache. These are solid elements, but ...
