Planeshift (Magic: The Gathering - Invasion Cycle Book II) (Bk. II)16 reviews
J. Robert King

Wizards of the Coast, 2001

Non stopped action!
This is a great novel by J. Robert King which i think is truely awsome. The story line is good, but you sort of need to read Invasion first, and perhaps Thran prior to that. It is nonstopped action that takes you from on board the Weatherlight to inside Urza's titan engine, to fighting with the dragons. I highly recommend it, and the other books in the saga, as well as all books by J.R. king

Gathering Moss: A Natural and Cultural History of Mosses13 reviews
Robin Wall Kimmerer

Oregon State University Press, 2003

Gathering Moss is Expanding
This is a great book about a smaller life form that has fundamental ramifications for ecology. The author is brillant at combining scientific fact with Native American awareness of the world around us and weaves together the significance of the inter-relationships of life, culture and the natural environment. We are introduced to the primary and lush enviroment of mosses in this well written and ...

Party Nuts!: 50 Recipes for Spicy, Sweet, Savory, and Simply Sensational Nuts that Will Be the Hit of Any ...13 reviews
Sally Sampson

Harvard Common Press, 2002

Great Party Treats
This book has a recipe for every occasion. I do feel that several of the recipes are very similar in terms of the spice mixtures used, but the Balsamic Shellacked Pecan recipe alone is worth the price of the book. A great asset for hostesses or anyone that loves recipes.

The Acorn Gathering: Writers Uniting Against Cancer13 reviews
Duane Simolke, Timothy Morris Taylor, ...

IUniverse, 2002

Acorns for Cancer
It was an extreme pleasure reading The Acorn Gathering. This talented group of writers have put together a wonderful collaboration of short stories. What makes this an outstanding buy is that all the royalties go to the American Cancer Society for cancer research. I highly recommend you going out, buying copies for yourself and your loved ones, and enjoy reading this book. Each story in The ...

Gathering Pearls11 reviews
William Schuh

Bedside Books, 2004

An insightful novel
I am not a big reader of novels, but this book by William Schuh was a fastinating look at the intricacies of relationships in the healthcare field and within dysfuntional families, but did so in a way that was not tawdry or demeaning. There are more than a few interesting turns that may take you by surprise. I would definitely recommend this book.

Gathering Storm (Second World War, Vol 1)25 reviews
Winston, Sir Churchill

Bantam Books (Mm), 1975

Don't let the six-volume length of the series stop you...
This is a splendid book. My suspicion has always been that a lot of people are frightened away from it by the fact that it is just the first of a six-volume series, and the sheer size of the work is intimidating. If that's your reaction, think again; first, Churchill's work, while comprehensive, is also readily consumable in bite-sizes. Second, this particular volume really stands on its own ...

Magic the Gathering: Arena Vol. 172 reviews
William R. Forstchen, (none)

HarperEntertainment, 1994

Arena is a book you can keep coming back to
Ah yes, Magic the Gathering. The child of Richard Garfield, run through dark magic and incest by the terrifying and evil Wizards of the Coast. I still play Magic, but it will never be like the old days, before Wizards of the Coast became huge. This book was written during the old days, and I reread it every couple years to remind myself of how cool the CCG world was back then. Arena tells ...

The Tree Is Older Than You Are: A Bilingual Gathering of Poems & Stories from Mex8 reviews
Naomi Shihab Nye

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 1995

Beautiful Words and Inspiring Art!
Being a beginning self-taught student in Spanish with a special interest in Mexican Spanish by way of my residency in Texas, I took a chance on purchasing this bilingual book and was more than delighted by what I found inside. The convenient side-by-side text of the poems and short stories makes it easy to follow the translations and improve language skills. However, the real treasures in this ...

A Gathering of Heroes (Dark Border, Vol. 3)9 reviews
Paul Edwin Zimmer

An Ace Book, 1987

The Gathering Of Heroes
After stumbling upon "The Lost Prince" and "King Chondos Ride" in a local library I was determined to locate this book. At the time I believed the trilogy unfinished, and desparately desired the outcome for Istvan and Jodos. Some ten years later, I stumble upon it in a tiny book shop in the middle of nowhere. In those ten years I had managed to purchase only one of the two original novels! ...

Celebrate Latin Heritage and Honor the Work of Farm Workers
Right away, one can see that this is much more than your run-of-the-mill alphabet books. Two extremely talented people, author Alma Flor Ada and Simon Silva, collaborate on 28 short poems that celebrate the pride of the Latino familes that work the fields as migrant farmworkers. In fact, this book is dedicated to the memory of Cesar Chavez. Alma Flor Ada has written extensively on what it is ...

The Prodigal Sorcerer (Magic The Gathering, No. 6)8 reviews
Mark Sumner

HarperEntertainment, 1995

When Peace is the Price, What Price Is Too High?
"The Prodigal Sorcerer", the fantastical tour-de-force of acclaimed fantasist Mark Sumner, paints a radical picture of a world straddling the knife-edge over the abyss. The depth of social commentary in this masterwork is, frankly, astonishing; in the main character "Tagard Tarngold" one finds shades of such legendary figures as Frederick Douglass or Harriett Tubman. No ivory tower for this ...

A Gathering of Eagles (Wakefield Dynasty #7)9 reviews
Gilbert Morris

Tyndale House Publishers, 1998

The Wakefield Dynasty is the best!
Gilbert Morris is definitely my favorite author. His books are so well written, so captivating and so exciting to read. This book, "A Gathering of Eagles" was one of my favorites. I was glad to see that the storyline wasn't completely predictable-- it was a page turner! I've just finished it, and am desperately hoping there'll be more to come in this series. The Wakefield Dynasty is by ...

The Plum in the Golden Vase or, Chin P'ing Mei : The Gathering, Volume I9 reviews

Princeton University Press, 1993

Fascinating Plot - Superb Translation
David Tod Roy's translation of the classic 16th century Chin P'ing Mei is awesome and right on the money. The story leaps off the pages - this is how this famous vernacular Chinese novel was meant to be read! Every element of the story is clear and concise in Roy's translation, allowing the reader to enjoy the plot and the fascinating characters. To briefly discuss the storyline, Chin P'ing ...

The Old Way: A Story of the First People9 reviews
Elizabeth Marshall Thomas

Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2006

Thoughtful and elegant
I bought this book, knowing little about it, simply because I have loved everything I've read by Elizabeth Marshall Thomas. This is the best of her best, which says a lot. The world is fortunate that her wealthy, and obviously very intelligent, family, chose to leave our way of life behind for long periods, and immerse themselves in the lives of southern African Bushmen in the 1950s. The story ...

Jamie C. Wakefield, Kevin McGlaughlin

A great read
I spent $100 to buy this book and found it well worth it. Other MTG books age, this does not. Jamie Wakefield is very entertaining.
