THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING: The Origin and Fate of the Universe35 reviews

PHOENIX BOOKS, INC., 2006

For the rest of us
Stephen Hawking struck gold with this one. For all of us who aren't cosmologists or astronomers, this book explains it all clearly. If you want to learn about our universe, this is a definite first read!

Franklyn M. Branley

Phases of Gravity20 reviews

E-Reads, Ltd., 2004

A book I will read again and again
I was truly amazed by the sparse beauty of the prose in Phases of Gravity. The reviewers who complain that "nothing happens" and that this is a lesser work by Simmons should stick to John Grisham or other formulaic authors who will satisfy their narrow expectations by delivering a predictable product. Simmons reveals his breadth as an author in this introspective work which is damn near perfect.

Gravity vs. the Girl19 reviews

Forty-Ninth Street Publishers, 2009

Well written, thought provoking and so much fun to read
I was not expecting much from this book figuring it would be a fluff piece. What a happy surprise to find such a well written and funny book. Any woman reading this book will relate to at least one, if not all of the ghosts that haunt the main character. The fact that she is clinically depressed (in pj's for an entire year) in the beginning of the book and slightly psychotic (i.e seeing ...

Defy Gravity 4CD: Healing Beyond the Bounds of Reason17 reviews
Caroline Myss

Hay House, 2009

Spiritual nourishment for my soul....
I always treasure anything that C Myss has done. I find her very inspiring & this series of lectures is right there on top. I haven't finished them yet but will soon. I'll be listening to them several times as it takes a long time for me to really process it all. Thank You Caroline!

Gravity: A Novel of Medical Suspense155 reviews
Tess Gerritsen

Pocket, 2000

A Possible Glimpse into a Frightening Future
When an astronauts wife is in an auto accident and dies, NASA feels they have to bring her husband back from the space station and all of a sudden doctor/astronaut Emma Watson, who hadn't been scheduled to go up for months, is tapped to take his place. Unknown to the astronauts on the station, one of the experiments they're working on is being keenly watched by the Army. Knowing NASA would never ...

Defy Gravity: Healing Beyond the Bounds of Reason27 reviews
Caroline Myss

Hay House, 2009

FABULOUS - a good place to begin or continue
So far, this is the best! Defy Gravity is her most comprehensive, easily accessible work. In fact, if I only bought one book by Caroline Myss, this would be it. I have read and/or listened to all of Caroline's work (except for Entering the Castle which I now feel ready for). While I've learned from each, some of her material is easier to absorb than others - and the format makes a difference, ...

Mean Ol' Mr. Gravity8 reviews
Mark Rippetoe

The Aasgaard Company, 2009

Classic Rippetoe
Funny and informative, classic writing by a true iconoclast. More people in this world should be subjected to Rippetoe's frank style.

Simon Bloom, the Gravity Keeper16 reviews
Michael Reisman

Puffin, 2009

One of the literature phenoms out in the world
The following review is by my 10-year old son. Most of the time, new books don't usually strike the shelves with as big of an impact as this. It usually takes them a few months before the book is brought up to one of the greats. But the series beginning of Simon Bloom was a great Sci-Fi book, and people were attracted to it very quickly, apparently. The characters are great, the syndicated ...

What Gravity "IS" as explained via Einsteins Space Time concepts

Sperry Publishing, 2008

Tony Sperry will use proven and accepted science principles to explain the results of his research ?The theory of Gravity explained via Einstein?s Space Time concepts? so the everyday person understands his work and discovery. The theory explains what Gravity ?IS? not just an effect or observations. It is a theory until validated by a recognized expert body such as NASA, CERN or major Universities. This validation is in progress but you will be ...

The Paladin Chronicles9 reviews, 2006

Fasten Your Seatbelts
The cover of the book was certainly lure enough, the title interesting enough, but when I began reading, I knew instantly that I needed to hold on and be prepared for the "G" forces of plot, characterization, and speed of the science fiction I held before me.First at hand, the author developed the story extremely fast and then threw in bio-technical, military, and situational suspense and ...

String Theory For Dummies5 reviews
Andrew Zimmerman Jones

For Dummies, 2009

Lucidly written, comprehensive, and entertaining
Andrew Zimmerman Jones, who is the Physics Guide for About.com, does a fabulous job of making the most complex scientific theory ever devised absolutely understandable. This is a first-rate introduction to the field. One would almost think it impossible to make something as recondite as sting theory clear to laypeople, but Jones pulls it off with wit and panache. Despite being part of the ...

How Do You Lift a Lion?2 reviews
Robert E. Wells

Albert Whitman & Company, 1996

Excellent Curriculum Tie-In
This book easily and clearly illustrates the concept of pulley, screw and lever. Simple machines have never been so easy to explain. The cute animals and the banana party they have help the students in my 3rd grade class to understand force and work. Bravo!

The Story of Science: Newton at the Center8 reviews
Joy Hakim

Smithsonian Books, 2005

Another Great Book!
I notice that one negative review has been repeated on multiple Joy Hakim books verbatim. I LIKE the sidebars and pictures. There is a ton of ART history and beautiful graphic design work in the books. Perhaps it is because my husband, son and I are all artists, but we particularly enjoyed the layout of the books. I felt a fusion of science with art in the presentation. The history is ...

Conferring with Readers: Supporting Each Student's Growth and Independence1 review
Jennifer Serravallo, Gravity Goldberg

Heinemann, 2007

Using it for high school students -- it's been amazing!
I teach classes for struggling and reluctant readers at a suburban high school. The program is geared for younger students, so I have had to make a few adjustments. It's modeled after Writer's Workshop. We've been at it for a week, and the kids are actually reading. I don't know if it's the conferencing, or the chance to sit in soft chairs, or what. I just know. It works!
