Great! Not your regular Christmas story....
I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but this Anne Perry gem truly SHINES. No, it's not your average Christmas story with predictable, shopworn plot devices. But being atypical is what makes it so great. Anne always delivers a great story and this is NO expection!!! I love her historical mysteries...she puts you right THERE...you're always cheering for the hero or heroine, and ...

Awake and Dreaming is a book that helps us understand just how much we should be thankful for. It also helps us see that no matter how bad our situation, there is always someone in a worse predicament. The story is about a girl named Theo. She and her mom live in Vancouver, Canada. It is safe to say that they are poor. Theo's life was very hard and she was going through a lot. So her mother ...

You will see yourself in these pages. I have. You will see the struggles you've been facing ... the ones that most of us don't know how to put into words ... brought out into the light. Paul Singh helps us get a clear view of what is at the core of the issues we face, and even more importantly, where and how to find the freedom and healing we all so deeply desire. Many summers, many guests
Justin Cronin writes beutifully! He weaves characters, their stories, big life questions, and time into something larger than the norm, leaving this reader pondering my own life, family and sense of place. Cronin's Mary and O'Neill was rich, too. Bits of metaphor and vividness in both.

Excellent strategies for church growth
Searcy and Henson have done a great job of putting together a very practical and readable guide to church growth. The basic premise is assimilating guests into engaged members by practicing an intentional hospitality and a structured follow-up strategy. The methodology makes perfect sense, and it is the same approach that Searcy used to grow his "from scratch" church in NYC. It is targeted toward ...

Engaging Book Is Nearly As Fun As The Era It Celebrates
While working at the Nevele Country Club, one of the many legendary Catskill resorts covered in this magnificent document, I briefly met Myrna and Harvey Frommer while doing their research. They probably don't remember me, I was too young at the time to offer the kind of history they were looking for, but the pair's enthusiasm and obvious love for the area's resorts and their unique (now long ...

Great baby shower gift!
I wish someone had loved me enough to give this to me at my baby shower. This is a great book and wonderfully easy to read. OK maybe the baby shower is a bit early, but I would definitely recommend it for parents of toddlers and older. I ordered a copy for my best friend. I had always heard about respecting your kids so they'll respect you, but never the real "how to's". This book gives what ...

A Good Read This Thanksgiving Week
The author has a website I believe at cozybooks dot com and anyone who has appreciated reading the book might leave the author a note there. The other reviews have captured the impact of reading this book. It's so vividly clear that I too can imagine a new film with the likes of our favorite actresses - Jodie Foster and cameos for Glenn Close, Susan Sarandon, etc. Janice Brooks Young's ...

Every Single Recipe in this Book is Terrific!
Every single recipe in this book is amazing-- they are all wonderfully balanced and do not call for hard-to-find ingredients. The collection features a good blend of exotic, gourmet, health, and American-traditional dishes (with a touch of flair, of course!) Check the index under sample pages for listings. Instructions are straight-forward and easy to follow, however there are no pictures or ...

Should be read every year! Christmas Classic!
A Christmas Guest by David LaRochelle has been our family's alltime favorite Christmas story. The story about a small boy and his mother entertaining an angel unaware is timelessly beautiful and in keeping with the true Christmas spirit. This treasure of a book is now out of print and I would love it if everybody would write to the publishers, Lerner Books Publishing, Carolrhoda books...and ask ...

The Professional Bartender's Handbook is an easy-to-use book for anyone. If you're stocking your own bar there are lists of what and how much to buy (including alcohol, mixers, and extras), what tools to have on hand (types of glasses, spoons, strainers--who knew?). There's even a chapter on really starting a bar--from business plan through OSHA regs and promotions. As for recipes, the book ...

To an ex navy SEAL, of course! With connections in all the right places, Veronica's best friend, Samantha, recommends that yummy Malik Cutler becomes the good doctor's "executive protector" and guard her body! At first, ...

Substitute Guest
The setting is a remote farm during a Christmas Eve blizzard. Into the home of father, mother, daughter and son comes a stranded traveler. How he ends up staying with them over Christmas, in the place of an invited guest who did not come, makes for a lovely, warm story that describes the celebration of Christmas as it should be. I wanted to move in with this family! The perfect Christmas story.

EXCELLENT
Excellent! Well defined, well written, and precise in the accounts of A. M. Keeler during the American Civil War, pre, during and post the war. The Allen's put heart and soul into this book, and is simply a must read for any and all Civil War historians. We all read, we all study, and we all try to remember, but without a good story-line we forget, this book makes the imprint, and the feel for ...

Cutting through the FUD
Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt is what J2 enthusiasts cling to when discussing .NET technologies. Simon cuts through these biases with concise, helpful guidance of how to interoperate. IBM and Microsoft both have committed to interoperability and Mr. Guest's book shows how that has real-world applicability. This book shows how an IT organization does not have to commit to J2 or .NET, but BOTH can ...
