The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2007 (Unofficial Guides)110 reviews
Bob Sehlinger, Len Testa

Wiley, 2006

A Must Have!
This book was such a great help! I purchased several other, but this was by far, the most comprehensive and best written!

Hawaii the Big Island Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook (Hawaii the Big Island Revealed)244 reviews
Andrew Doughty, Harriett Friedman

Wizard Publications, 2002

This is simply the best guidebook available!
I compared it with three other guidebooks, and this one is hands down by far the best. I also like his sense of humor, and his ability to give us foreigners a realistic taste of the local culture. It is down to earth, not superficial, and it must have been a lot of work to write this guide! The first thing I did when I arrived in Oahu for the second segment of my trip was to go to the bookstore ...

A Field Guide to American Houses50 reviews
Virginia Mcalester, Lee Mcalester

Knopf, 1984

A great description of historical architecture styles
After some introductory chapters on the history and theory of homebuilding, the McAlesters commence with descriptions of the different styles. Each major style is described with a large stylized diagram with its identifying features labeled, a description of the major subtypes, descriptions of the style's unique elements, a paragraph on the frequency and locations of its occurrence, some ...

Acting Is Everything: An Actor's Guidebook for a Successful Career in Los Angeles45 reviews
Judy Kerr

September Publishing, 2003

An Actor's Black Book...
I started reading this book thinking I could jot down a couple useful pieces of information and quickly advance to another book on acting. Boy was I wrong! This book is overflowing with so many sources that you may as well toss out the Yellowpages. Judy Kerr did a flawless job of providing step-by-step instructions regarding the business-side of acting and how you can get started. Sure, ...

Field Guide to the Birds of Eastern North America61 reviews
David Sibley

Christopher Helm Publishing Company, 2003

easy for quick identification
I think this is a terrific book because it is easy to quickly identify birds with their well laid-out information, quick identification tips and specific tips as to what to look for when identifying a bird. Some of the tips are paying attention to bird stance, beak shape, crown feathers etc ... They also show birds that look similar to other birds so you can compare the possibilities of who just ...

Michael C. Volkin

Kauai Trailblazer: Where to Hike, Snorkel, Bike, Paddle, Surf (68 reviews

Diamond Valley Company, 2007

A USEFUL Guide Book!
Guess where my wife wants to take me on her summer vacation? Hint: she likes lush resorts with hiking opportunities. I've been to the other islands of Hawaii several times, but never to Kauai. I don't need the usual 50 pages of cajoling to enjoy myself that most guidebooks feature, and in this era of goooogle, I certainly don't need out-of-date hotel listings. This is a book crammed with info ...

The Paris Mapguide45 reviews
Michael Middleditch

Penguin (Non-Classics), 1995

Best Guide
We went all over Paris using this mapguide. It was the best map for a large city that I ever used. It was our first ime to Paris and I was very comfortable getting around. I would highly recommend the Paris mapguide. We also used the London mapguide also and were just as pleased.

Maui Trailblazer: Where to Hike, Snorkel, Paddle, Surf, Drive59 reviews
Jerry Sprout, Janine Sprout

Diamond Valley Company, 2007

How To Do Maui Right
The book scales the island down in a very nice way and is easy to follow. Heed their water safety and driving with "aloha" tips. Squirts out all the best things to do and made our daily itinerary decisions slamdunks. Take it with you on the road. I strongly recommend seeing the Hana Highway in a convertible. Our twisty ride out there in the early morning was awesome.

Oahu Revealed: The Ultimate Guide to Honolulu, Waikiki & Beyond121 reviews
Andrew Doughty, Harriett Friedman

Wizard Publications Inc., 2004

Lost without it.
We haven't gone on our trip yet but we'd be lost without this book. Anything and everything you'll ever want to see, do or eat is in here. The best $15 I spent in a long time.

Nancy Clark's Sports Nutrition Guidebook34 reviews
Nancy Clark

Leisure Press, A Division of Human Kinetics, 1989

absolutely wonderful
I recommend this book to everyone. Although Nancy Clark calls it a Sport's Nutrition Guidebook, this is really a guide on the way everybody should eat in order to be healthy. She begins by giving general guidelines on what eating every day should be like. She explains why everything is important: carbs, protein, fat, sugar, dairy. Then she goes on to explain what it is each of these types of food ...

Eyewitness Travel Guide to New York32 reviews

DK Travel, 1997

Small, but full of useful information :)
I visited NYC for the first time a few weeks ago. I took only three books about this city with me: this guide, the "Lonely planet NYC Guide", and "The Metropolitan Museum of Art Guide". Truth to be told, this guide is probably the only one I couldn't have done without. "Top 10 New York" is an extremely useful small guide that doesn't have as much information as the "Lonely planet NYC Guide", ...

Hawaii The Big Island Trailblazer: Where to hike, snorkel, surf, bike, drive41 reviews
Jerry Sprout, Janine Sprout

Wilderness Press, 2007

If you love the Big Ilsand
YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK. We have traveled to the big island many times, but still have not discovered or seen everything. This book reaches beyond of the general guide books and one of the other more popular reads about the island. Great for those who are into hiking and especailly for driving tours. Snorkelers will like some of the off the beaten path places to go.

Personal Power Through Awareness: A Guidebook for Sensitive People (Book II of the Earth Life Series)35 reviews
Sanaya Roman

HJ Kramer, 1986

excellent book
This is another excellent book but all of Romans books tend to repeat themselves. Still I have 4 or 5 of her books and underline and go back and re-read things during my devotional times. No major changes in my life have been necessarily produced through her books but they are comforting words that would be absolutely wonderful if they really did work.

Chris Santilli

Scarlett, Oh! Publishing, 2001

This book is a must have for anyone considering a trip to hedonism 2 (or three). and for those who aren't considering the trip it is still very well written and entertaining. over all well worth the purchase price.

Federal Resume Guidebook29 reviews
Kathryn K. Troutman, Michael Singer Dobson

Jist Publishing, 1999

A must buy
If you want to work for Uncle then you must have this book. After toiling for over a year trying to work for Uncle and getting nowhere, I bought this book. I spent a day revamping my resume as it describes and have been knee deep in responses ever since. If you want your resume to be in the right format to get you in the door then buy this book. If you want to continue hawking on the street or ...

Oldman's Guide to Outsmarting Wine: 108 Ingenious Shortcuts to Navigate the World of Wine with Confidence and ...41 reviews
Mark Oldman

Penguin (Non-Classics), 2004

Make it your first book on wine!
If you are buying your first book on wine, let it be this one. I have previously bought some other books that were advertised as aimed towards non professionals, but I found many parts of them very hard to read. Oldman's guide is worth reading, and it can awaken the love for wine in you. It is made as one or two page shortcuts which you can easily read, grab off the shelf when you feel like it or ...

Impress for Less!34 reviews
Hope Fox

Wiley, 2007

Must Have, To Impress Your Company!
IMPRESS FOR LESS is all that and more! A must have for having a wonderful dinner, lunch or even breakfast with family and friends. Just received my copy the other day from Amazon.com, and couldn't put the book down. Where to start, what recipe to try first. Who, do I invite over to share a outstanding meal with? My family was first with Roasted Orange Chicken Breast with Wild Rice Pancakes. It ...

Walt Disney World with Kids, 1997 (Annual)37 reviews
Kim Wright Wiley

Prima Lifestyles, 1996

Money-saving tips & ride reviews alone are worth it!
Since we take so few vacations, I like to make sure they're planned well so everyone gets the most out of them. I bought 3 Disney books (Unofficial Guide by Sehlinger and Birnbaum's 2001 edition too) but this is the one I found most useful for planning a trip with a 4 & 6 year-old. The tips saved us $1000 on room costs alone! The reviews of the Disney and off-site hotels offer useful details ...
