Guided Reading: Good First Teaching for All Children13 reviews
Gay Su Pinnell, Irene C. Fountas

Heinemann, 1996

Wonderful source for Primary Teacher!
I had this book at close tabs at all times. I really loved the icons they have at the back of the book (these are center icons). I photocopied and laminated them, and used them to rotated the children through their centers daily. I LOVE the list of books for each reading level. A big help when choosing books to read with each reading group. Excellent book. A must have in each classroom.

Guided Meditation: Six Essential Practices to Cultivate Love, Awareness, and Wisdom4 reviews
Jack Kornfield

Sounds True, Incorporated, 2007

Very Good
The meditations a easy to follow. I've tried other guided meditation CDs and they sometimes have distracting anecdotes in the middle of the meditation. This one doesn't. There is a brief introduction to each meditation that can be skipped once you get the hang of it.

Indigo Dreams: Adult Relaxation-Guided Meditation/Relaxation Techniques decrease anxiety, stress, anger ...35 reviews
Lori Lite

LiteBooks.net, 2006

Very Relaxing
I bought this tape because I was told by my doctor that I needed to learn how to relax. I have a back problem that gets severe at times and the relaxation methods on this CD are just great. I told my doctor about it and how it has helped me and he took the name of the CD and said he would recommend it to his other patients that were also having problems with relaxing. The affirmations also ...

New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain Workbook: Guided Practice in the Five Basic Skills of Drawing36 reviews
Betty Edwards

Tarcher, 2002

drawing workbook
i have read the book drawing on the right side of the brain. what this book is can be also taken right out of the original book. it is just more of what it says a work book. or you could just use some drawing pad to do the exercises in it. It takes out of the book the lessons, so save your money and just by the book. which by the way actually is also a very useful book to learn and understand ...

The Machu Picchu Guidebook: A Self-Guided Tour29 reviews
Ruth M. Wright, Alfredo Valencia Zegarra

Johnson Books, 2004

A great way to prepare your eyes for Machu Picchu
This book is fairly scholarly and serious, but I read it on a cross-country flight, using the detailed map insert to locate key items as I read. It made my enjoyment of the site itself many many times greater. Most local guides you hire at the site will only show you "Machu Picchu's greatest hits", and with the book's knowledge you can really appreciate what they are taking you to and can ...

The American Way of War: Guided Missiles, Misguided Men, and a Republic in Peril13 reviews
Eugene Jarecki

Free Press, 2008

A must read
Jarecki goes into great detail, with a comprehensive historical background framework, to explain how the United States has become today a monstrous war machine with 93% of the whole Defense budget going to the DoD and only the remaining 7% to the State Department. Which explains in a nutshell why, when problems arise, they are likely be solved militarily. From the founders to the Bush ...

Thank you Bodhipaksa
Thank you Bodhipaksa. I listen to you in the morning and again at night. Sometimes I listen to this CD and sometimes Guided Meditations for Stress Relief. Guided Mindfulness Meditation (Guided Mindfulness)21 reviews
Jon Kabat-Zinn

Sounds True, Incorporated, 2005

Great benefits and EASY to follow instructions.
The CD set exceeded my expectations for ease of use. They are much easier to follow than I anticipated. The mediations are simple and completely agnostic, and therefore should be non-offensive to any religious orientation. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a way to improve their mental and physical health in an extremely enjoyable and accessible manner!

The Annotated Turing: A Guided Tour Through Alan Turing's Historic Paper on Computability and the Turing ...7 reviews
Charles Petzold

Wiley, 2008

Touring one of the most important computing science works
For those touring Turing's work, there's nothing better than a guide. Alan Turing's research in computing science form (along with works by Goedel, von Neumann, etc.) the a "must-see" tour for any serious computer scientist or discrete mathematician. Unfortunately, all such original works are very aged in writing style, terminology, and notation, making them very difficult to read. I have read ...

Where Does the Money Go?: Your Guided Tour to the Federal Budget Crisis21 reviews
Scott Bittle, Jean Johnson

Collins Business, 2008

Informative, provacative and very timely
Writing this review during the 2008 Presidential campaign and amidst the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, I find the book, "Where Does the Money Go?" informative, provocative and very, very timely. If either of the Presidential candidates had read the book before the final debate, I think either would have scored meaning points with the viewers. Instead, when asked to comment ...

The Oil Painting Course You've Always Wanted: Guided Lessons for Beginners and Experienced Artists15 reviews
Kathleen Staiger

Watson-Guptill, 2006

Oil painting can be tricky - this book helps control oils
I got this book from the library. I always knew I could draw, and I always wanted to oil paint. I have a lot of books on oil painting, but I still struggle. Oil paints are tricky, sort of like playing the violin: you have to learn to control them before you start creating with them. Now, it IS for beginners, but it also says for "experienced" because she shows you tricks that maybe you ...

The Self-Esteem Guided Journal: A Ten Week Program (New Harbinger Guided Journal)3 reviews
Matthew McKay, Catharine Sutker

New Harbinger Publications, 2005

Helped me greatly last year.
Around this time last year I was going through a very difficult time in many areas of my life. I won't go into extreme detail, but some of these included the consistent physical and emotional abuse from my dad, a really nasty break-up from a relationship that had lasted years, and the worst relapse into anorexia that I have ever had. Needless to say, I had pretty much no self-esteem and ...

The Future of War: Power, Technology and American World Dominance in the Twenty-first Century15 reviews
George Friedman, Meredith Friedman

St. Martin's Griffin, 1998

Technological Determism
This is an extremely well written book on technological determism. It shows the development of weapon systems through centuries. And shows how these systems have been replaced by new technology. Technological determism advocates that technology controls the development of society, and that this process is unstoppable. It is closely related to the school of realism. Even if you disagree with ...

Diana Lang

New World Library, 2004

The best ever!
The best teachers are the ones who guide you to your own inner knowing, encouraging you to trust your self and your path. Diana Lang is such a great teacher. This little gem of a book is both a gentle and powerful tool. Simple. Potent. I love it! But, I love the CD even more. The meditations are beautiful and soothing. Diana's voice is like a balm, gently reminding you that everything is ...

Panic Attacks Workbook: A Guided Program for Beating the Panic Trick17 reviews
David Carbonell

Ulysses Press, 2004

I wish I had had this book 20 years ago...
I think the way the author deconstructs panic attacks, in a thorough, friendly and humorous way, makes it easy to see just how harmless they really are, regardless of how painful it seems at the time. I am learning to apply the techniques to manage panic attacks, and have already seen results. I have even found relief with anticipatory anxiety (a whole chapter on that). There are also helpful ...

How to Read the Bible Book by Book: A Guided Tour15 reviews
Gordon D. Fee, Douglas Stuart

Zondervan, 2002

Best of the Bible Books
This is a terrific book. It guides you confidently through one of the most complex books in the world -- The Bible -- without being overwhelming or condescending. Fee and Stuart know their way around both the Christian scriptures and the human experience. Rare stuff indeed. By tackling the Bible in sections with brief introductions for each and then giving us an at-a-glance overview of each ...
