Nell Tharpe

Huge Timesaver
Tharpe's book is a wonderful starting point for individual practice guidelines. These protocols reflect the standards of care, and also include alternative therapies. It is well written and thorough and takes the misery out of writing practice guidelines.

Excellent Resource
A very useful reference/resource for understanding the effects of cognitive load on learning, that includes descriptions of instructional strategies to address these effects. I found the text to be well organized and thorough. I particularly liked the explanation of effect size on statistical analysis of the effects of cognitive load. I'd recommend this text to those developing instructional ...

Clinical Guidelines in Family Practice
This book is great and is a must have for any nurse practitioner student and then later as they are a nurse practitioner in practice. This book is referred to many as a nurse practitioner's "Bible". This is because it is needed to study for the boards and then later to guide practice.

Guidelines forever
This is a nice and small pocketbook, including the evidence based guidelines in almost all outpatient topics... It does not explain the why in everything written, but includes the reference study, website, article etc. It is a very diverse book, in that it does not focus in any specialty, but includes guidelines for vaccinations, cancer screenings, AAA, ADHD, metabolic syndrome, osteoporosis ...

Great reference for freelance / contract designers & illustrators
I first saw this series of books when working in house in the late 90's. I somewhat forgot about them until seeing the book at a local Big New bookstore, where I picked up the most recent copy and checked it out a bit. I realized that I should have bought this book years ago, when I first went out on my own in the design world, so I came home and ordered it up on Amazon (for about 40% off the ...

Must have! Good stuff
This book is the primary resource for ACSM certification. The newest edition is much more user friendly than previous editions and has some important changes in guidelines and protocols. I was studying for ACSM HFS cert for about 3 months with the previous edition but was informed at a ACSM workshop that I would need to purchase this edition because of the changes in the info. I got this resource ...

good reference manual
I ordered this book to prepare for my primary aerobics instructor certification through AFAA. I found the text to be thorough and clearly written, unlike some other instructor references I had examined. It is a text and is therefore somewhat dry, but it offers a information on both the science behind fitness classes and the mechanical aspects of structuring and teaching a group fitness class. ...

Don't judge a book by it's cover
After reading the 2 previous reviews, I almost decided against ordering. However, I realized both parties review were based on the quality of delivery and not content. I ordered the same book and received it in perfect condition and timing. The book is an easy read, large print and an appropriate tool for study. Do not judge a book by it's cover, but by it's content.
