Great Book! Highly reccomended
This book is a great resource for anyone wanting to learn about guitar repair and maintenance. Personally, I'm just a guitar player that's tired of running to a guitar tech every time I need a seasonal truss rod adjustment. This book lays out very clearly the types of maintenance that are necessary for acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. My only critique is that the book focuses more on Gibson, ...

all the articles in one place
This book is comprised of all the past Guitar Player Magazine articles featuring Carlos Santana. If You don't have a subscription going back 40 years then this book is for you. Even if you did have 40 years of magazines, having them all together in one book would still be worthwhile. It would have been nice if they had added new photos or something extra. Actually their are only 6 photos in the ...

Great for beginners
I bought this book many years ago and I love it. With knowing just the basic guitar chords you can play many popular songs from the 60's and 70's such as This Land is Your Land, We All Live in a Yellow Submarine, MoonShadow, House of the Rising Sun, etc... Plus traditional favorites like She'll be commin' round the mountain, Sailing,... I'm very glad with my purchase of this book.

Great Book!
This book is a very easy read that tells you how to make your electric guitar play better. I learned so many easy ways to fix my guitars. For example, my son has a Telecaster that the neck is slightly crooked to one side. Sure enough, the book states this is very common and shows you how to fix it.

Great collection
For the price, this collection of articles from Guitar Player magazine, is a great deal. I used to think Guitar Player magazine was just for kids. After coming back to guitar playing after 15 years, I have been surprised (pleasantly) by the high quality of the articles. Reading these articles is both informative and inspirational. I have been exposed to new styles, techniques, and players. Plus, ...

I use this book as my class text.
In early 2006 I retooled my guitar class at Troy University department of music part of which was changing my class text from Frederick Noad "First Book for the Guitar" to The Complete Guitar Player Books 1, 2 & 3 Omnibus Edition (Complete Guitar Player) by Russ Shipton. This transition was a success; my students love this book and perspective it brings to the class. I still think the world of ...

Great book for a beginner practice
This is a great book for a beginner to practice changing chords, strumming and finger picking. Most of the songs are simplified versions based on 3 or 4 chords and one strumming or finger picking pattern. A few songs had up to 7 different chords. There are a few bar chords in the more advanced songs, but most chords are open chords like C, G, D, D7, A, G7, Em, Am, Am7, B7, etc. Best of all, the ...

Electric Bass Guitar
This book is very helpful and it covers many different styles of playing and different techiniques such as the "in and out" technique which makes playing sixteen notes eaiser. It covers slapping, and just basic right hand technique. It also has a whole chapter on soloing and explains basslines and turnaround and chords. The only problem is that there is no tablature,so you have to learn ...

A MUST have for any jazz guitarist or fan.
This is quite an excellent book and is surprisingly done in soft cover now. My copy is hard cover and is a prized possession. It's thoughtfully and knowledgably written, has excellent references, recommendations, photos and discussions. I love this book, and it would be a GREAT present for ANY jazz guitarist. If you love one, buy it for them and they'll never forget it! (-: -d

Sooner or later one of us must know
I bought this book for my father, a Dylan afficianado who enjoys playing the guitar. He felt the song selection was good, not only mixing in some newer songs with the old standards, but also mixing genres (folk, rock, etc.). The chord charts were simple and well defined. The print was clear and easy to read. The editors had the good sense to leave out Like A Rolling Stone (it's just too ...

Great Projects and Very Informative
I work with CB radios and mining equiptment so I know my way around electronics, but at the beginning of this book it does an awsome job of explaining things to newcomers, such as schematics, which I had previously had no idea how to read. The projects in here are quite simple aswell. Every guitarist who is looking for their own sound needs this book.

This indispensable book approaches guitar chords in a whole new way, explaining and organising chords with the songwriter in mind. For the first time, the guitar-playing songwriter can find all the chords that work well together grouped together in a visually engaging format, key by key, from major to minor. Only a basic knowledge of guitar chords is required to use this book, although it will appeal to the experienced musician just as much as ...
