Caught'Ya !: Grammar With a Giggle

Giggling Good Grammar
This is the only how-to teacher book that I've read cover to cover in the last 10 years. I love Hairy. I ordered Giggles in the Middle: Caught'ya! Grammar with a Giggle for Middle School and also read it cover to cover. In a desolate, lifeless, serious world of standards that my colleagues bemoan and administrators preach, these books are small green seedlings of hope.

great!
This novel is fun, sincere, well-paced, and somehow timeless, despite Coupland's love of tech pop culture references (youtube this time; the kids just love it). Aging loser Roger has hit rock bottom: he's divorced, disappointed, and drinking through his days at Staples. He befriends drifting, frustrated goth chick Bethany, and together they mock their mediocre coworkers and support each other ...

I love this system!
I discovered (and bought) Jane's first two Caught'ya books at the national Differentiated Education conference last summer. I have used the high school level stories successfully in the two semesters since then. I wanted more stories so that I could keep my students on track throughout the year, so I ordered The Chortling Bard. What a resource! There are three fully-completed stories based on ...

Science isn't exactly Maeve's favorite subject, but she's still excited to be going to the Sally Ride Science Festival at MIT with her hunky tutor, Matt. Sure, the BSG and her annoyingly brilliant younger brother are going as well, but it's still almost kind of a date, isn't it? The festival gives the BSG a super idea -- an environmental science fair at Abigail Adams Junior High. But plans for a bubble gum factory nearby put Avery and Katani on ...

18 Years Ago, this was my Daughter's favorite!
It's been 18 years since I read this book to my daughter. Of all the books I used to read her, this one is the one I remember best. The story is funny, and the pictures are interesting for a small child at bedtime. I've often wondered if it were still in publication, and I'm glad to see it is. Try it out on your child, and perhaps it'll create a similar memory for you!

A great deployment book for any service.
My husband will soon leave for Kuwait, leaving behind our 4 yo daughter and me. I've been researching various deployment books since we learned he was going. Overall, this is one of the best books. It is service neutral (which is difficult to find). The story is about love and separation more than the actual reason they are gone. The illustrations are lovely and typical of quality children's ...

Preventing and reversing gum disease
This is an excellent book written by a very dedicated dental hygienist who does her best to impart her years of acquired wisdom, so that we can take responsibility for our dental health and protect our teeth. The author teaches us that most people lose teeth as they get older, not because of tooth decay, but rather because of gum disease. She explains what happens and why, and goes on to teach ...

Caught'Ya Again!: More Grammar With a Giggle
Mrs. Kiester has done it again! Before I found Jane Bell Kiester's books, I didn't have a clear path to follow when teaching writing. The Caught'Ya books solve the problem of teaching your students grammar and mechanics. Each day students are given a sentence to correct that adds to a story line appropriate for their age group. Students become engaged in the learning process throughout the ...

Outstanding
I immediately ordered this book, with great glee. As an ethnobotanist, I find that this book is an invaluable source of information on a topic that has not been systematically covered in my field. The illustrations are wonderful, the information value of the book is high and I am pleased to have this book in my collection.

The history of chewing gum's marketing and popularity
The history of chewing gum's marketing and popularity might seem to some like a narrow topic for a business book: think again. Michael Redclift's Chewing Gum: The Fortunes Of Taste holds plenty of insights into advertising and marketing an innovative new product, telling a zany story based on a scheme hatched by Chicago's Wrigley brother - and social theory scholar Michael Redclift proves the ...

Great Book!!!
My son is 9 years old and hates chapter books, he would much rather be reading non-fiction. When I found the Chet Gecko series at the store, I took a chance and bought the first book. At first my son refused to read it, but after reading the first two chapters aloud as a bedtime story, he was hooked. He has since read all of the Chet Gecko novels and loves each and every one. I have read most ...

Great story, great writing, great illustrations
Both our 8 and 6 year olds enjoy reading this book and I enjoy reading it to them. The story is both clever and fun and the writing is poetic yet accessible. The illustrations enhance the story and are as fun and dynamic as the story is. Some kids' books are well-written, others have a fun story and others teach values. Rare is a book that can do all three as well as this one does.
