Bankrupt: Restoring the Health and Profitability of Our Banking System18 reviews
Lowell L. Bryan

HarperBusiness,U.S., 1991

Hooked on the GREAT doctor!
This album holds so many memories of my teenage years as I used to listen to this when going to Speedway with my brother. I have been searching for this to add to my collection of CD's and this is the first place I have been able to find it. As for the songs there isn't a bad one amonst them "Levitate" truly does lift me high, "Only Sixteen" reminds me of when I was ONLY SIXTEEN and "Millionaire" ...

In Hostile Territory : Business Secrets of a Mossad Combatant10 reviews
Gerald Westerby

Harperbusiness, 1998

Every Once In a Great While, A SUPERB BOOK Like This Comes Along!
I was completely blown away by the content of this book. The lessons and time-tested, proven methods contained in this book are worth more than the price of attending a business seminar! What's more, the wisdom culled from the no-holds-barred struggle to survive which tolerates no fakery needed and applied in the survival and eventual culmination in the formation of the state of Israel and ...

Serpent on the Rock4 reviews
Kurt Eichenwald

HarperBusiness, 1996

An exciting read....
This is not Eichenwald's best book. But it's still better than 95 percent of the junk that passes for thrillers these days. In fact, I would be raving over this book if I hadn't read Eichenwald's "The Informant" and "Conspiracy of Fools" first. Those two set a very, very high bar. This one doesn't clear it completely, but it still gets darn close.

Wealth Happens One Day at a Time: 365 Days to a Brighter Financial Future13 reviews
Brooke M. Stephens

HarperBusiness, 1999

excellent book and as easy to read as a novel
Like the other people who reviewed this book, I just love it. I first borrowed it from the library and then purchased it for myself. I like the way it is made up, in tiny steps and really easy to read and follow. It truly inspired me to take a new look at money and I found out that you can save money in more ways than I ever thought possible. I highly recommend it. It is well worth the price.

The Effective Executive: The Definitive Guide to Getting the Right Things Done (Harperbusiness Essentials)56 reviews
Peter F. Drucker

Collins Business, 2006

Timeless, practical advice, immediately implementable
In this short book are some of the most trenchant, clearly-written statements on how to be an effective executive ever written. It contains some philosophical statements, more real-world examples, and most importantly, it details actions the executive can take to become immediately effective. I wish I had read this 20 years ago! Other books like Good To Great and Built To Last are excellent, ...

Serious Creativity: Using the Power of Lateral Thinking to Create New Ideas8 reviews
Edward De Bono

HarperBusiness, 1992

buy only this one...
By now I think I have read about fifteen of De Bono's books and this is certainly the best. Many of the others seem to be mostly regurgitations of the the same old stuff. Does he get paid by the word? He claims to have written about 25 books, but I think he has to a great extent written one book over and over again. And he seems so pompous and arrogant. How can someone with such arrogance be ...

Read this before spending a dime to start any business
Everyone that starts a business is a technician that suffers from an Entrepreneurship seizure, hence the E Myth. Stephen M. Pollan

Harperbusiness, 2000

Super Advice
The book gives you straight answers on how to face challenges, financial and otherwise, that come your way in life: on the job and at home. Fear of Finance
This is an easy to read, clearly written discussion of many financial topics women need to deal with. Built to Last Successful Habits of Visionary Companies1 review

HarperBusiness, 1994

A Classic
"Built to Last" is an enlightening and interesting classic on business strategic management. The authors, Jim Collins and Jerry Porras spent six years in research and compared the practices of 18 visionary companies in the USA to those of a matched set of good, though not great, companies. Their fundamental observation is that average companies are driven by the power of "or:" You can have either ...

Broadening the Ownership of Capital
This final book by Lou Kelso and Patricia Hetter Kelso explains the first ESOP Lou created, in 1956, and how that experience can carry over to: MUSOP (Mutual Stock Ownership Plan, a trust owning several small businesses for the benefit of all their employees.) The costs of creating and administering an ESOP are usually far too great for smaller corporate business. The MUSOP would allow ...

Honey, I Want to Start My Own Business: A Planning Guide for Couples1 review
Azriela Jaffe

HarperBusiness, 1996

Must read book for couples wanting to work together
This is a perfect book to read and complete the surveys together with your significant other. I read this book in one sitting and can't wait to get started going through the surveys with my husband and seeing where we differ in our ideas and where we have the same ideas, and spend more time on sitting down and communicating together. As most of your know with the busy schedules of work, ...

Cancel the Meetings, Keep the Doughnuts: And Other New Morsels of Business Wisdom1 review
Richard A. Moran

Harperbusiness, 1995

A business book that is (finally) sensible!
In today's' business world, guides come in all shapes and sizes. There are dry, long tomes, short catchy ones with funny titles and flashy artwork and thousands in between. Most tell you the same things: What you should be doing, how to get to where you want to be and how to deal with all types of people. The exact same thing. You don't really need all of those books! "Cancel the Meetings, ...

Breakpoint and beyond: Mastering the future--today3 reviews
George Land, Beth Jarman

HarperBusiness, 1992

Understanding Change in a New Way
Many books tell us things are changing, but this is best one I've read that explores change itself. Change happens constantly, yet the "rules" underlying change are poorly understood. Land and Jarman meet this challenge with examples from the sciences, business, and individual lives. A central point of this book is that all systems go through distinct phases of change. These phases are visible ...

The Power Point3 reviews
Michael E. Gerber

Harperbusiness, 1992

Some important lessons inside...
I've proclaimed for a long time that the single biggest reason that Bill Gates is the richest man in the world is because he has done a better job than anyone else at getting people on his "bandwagon". This book talks about getting people on your bandwagon - customers, employees, vendors, and lenders. And then, it does a fabulous job of explaining why the system-oriented company will ...
